There are some unsuspecting people who still do not understand very well that not all animation is necessarily entertainment for young people or better, sometimes it is not just entertainment. And that depending on their content and intensity, they can be even more uncomfortable than pleasant to be seen. There is no lack of examples of bittersweet animations that touch on pain and not only on the beauty of art as in the case of so many films and oriental animes, but this was uncommon in the mass media until a while ago. It was more common to see acid, sarcastic and funny drawings like South Park, Simpsons, and so on. However, rarely do some iconic works strongly influenced by existential issues, human and worldly difficulties, bitter but necessary situations, which at the end of each episode give you a lump in your throat instead of a smile. This is definitely the case with Bojack Horseman.
When I started seeing Bojack a few years ago I didn't give it much credit, it just looked like a bizarre drawing full of chaotic and junky situations that represented the lives of complicated people. I even ended up taking a long time to decide to try again. And when, more precisely in the second season, the drawing started to become more and more intense, real, deep and frighteningly I started to identify myself with not one, but with several characters, I was hooked by this story of pains and adventures human, acidic emotional situations, difficulties in relationships, addictions, money, betrayal, fear, chaos, suicide, guilt and all this only slightly softened by the incredible charisma of some characters.
I must say that in a few FILMS I found as much sincerity and reality in terms of existential conflicts and well-expressed human pains as I found in all the seasons of Bojack. And no, this is not a fault of Bergman, Tarkovski, Kurosawa, Wenders, that is to say that a deep and delicate director will speak. The fact is that, seeing so much, expressed in such a sincere and raw, visceral way, in full easy and popular access as Netflix, makes me think that we are finally accessing another phase of the human relationship with feelings and pains. No longer depriving such sensitivity and intensity only of cult cinema that is difficult to digest, and that bites the tongue whoever says otherwise, while watching episode 11 of the fourth season, about Beatrice's fragmented memories, on her journey towards dementia.

Unfortunately, not infrequently, we see that the vast majority identify very precisely with the most fragile, problematic, disturbed and humanly aware character of their misfortunes, the very horse that gives the series its name. I recently decided to start re-watching since the first season, now with a new vision of life already, three years after having seen it for the first time. And how interesting it is to observe everything in a new way, with certain experiences that make human and painful patterns so simple that so many of us experience even more identifiable.
