So I just finished binge watching the fifth season of Cobra Kai..And boy oh boy did I enjoy it!
I still remember my first thought when I finished the first season so many years ago..." If season two is even half as good I'll be a happy man"..
And then, season after seasons the creators of the show kept blowing my mind. I doubt anybody could have imagined those three silly 80s movies we grew up with would have led to such a bad ass sequel decades later!
Anyways, season 5 was fucking amazing. I was pretty happy with season 4 although I remember wishing they would have just wrapped everything and finished the show as a fifth season felt unnecessary to me and I was afraid the show would plateau. Well..
I stand corrected, as it couldn't have been more badass. We get everything. More comeos from the pasr, great fights... And a Terry Silver that is the epitome of the Evel guy. He is such a dick you just can't..not root for him. Him terrorizing poor old Danny boy gave me a hard on🤣
As always, this season hit all the sweet spots perfectly, with nostalgia from the old films, bringing character building to super swallow (in the original films) characters, a breath of fresh air with the new kiddos, epic fight scenes, comedy, music, etc etc etc.
Yeah, there were a few scenes that felt a bit cringy and the "Miguel finds dad" arc was imo unnecessary.
This season finally gives enough closure to everything so this time a six season might not be coming.. But if it does come.. You bet your ass I will watch it right away
Overall, season 5 was simply great and if you have loved the show up to now you won't be disappointed. And if you haven't started it yet...
You'd better do, I promise you won't regret it. Probably one of the few "reboots" from the 1980s that is actually a masterpiece. The creators have delivered something that can capture old and young audiences alike!
