I watched Jack the Giant killer yesterday morning on my job. It was yet another boring day but thankfully Netflix came to the rescue.
I remember I wanted to watch this movie on the cinema when it came out in 2013 but for whatever reason I missed it and totally forgot its existence. Oh well, fast forward almost a decade later Netflix came to remind me of it.
As the name of the movie suggests, this is a fantasy movie based on the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale. I don't remember exactly how the fairy tale goes, but from the little I do remember, I think it's only loosely based. So if you expect an accurate narration of the story maybe you will be disappointed. Me, I didn't care much.
So... Overall, although not a huge fan of the genre this is a movie I enjoyed more then I expected.
I found the movie visually appealing and enjoyed the fairy tailish cgi. The action scenes were also pretty good and it had some fun moments and laughs too. The actors did a decent job in their acting and the pace was quite good and I can't say there was a moment I got bored.
It's not a perfect film, but it's a good Hollywood movie that I think both kids and adults will enjoy.
All in all, not any major complains! It was two hours I won't regret spending.
A 7/10 from me!
The ancient war between humans and a race of giants is reignited when Jack, a young farmhand fighting for a kingdom and the love of a princess, opens a gateway between the two worlds. source
