Jupiter's legacy is an okayish watch!

Review by @trumpman · 1875d · of Jupiter's Legacy

Jupiter's legacy is a mini superheroes series that popped up on Netflix a couple of days ago. It is based on a 2015 comic by the same name. I have never read or heard the comic before, but since I like superhero stuff I figured to give it to watch today.

In total, it's only eight episodes, some of which are less than 40 minutes long so I ended up finishing it in one go.

During the first couple episodes I was like mehhhhhhh but it gets better as it moves on, especially thanks to the plot.

Most of the superheroes have boring powers, essentially they are like superman (eye lasers, flying etc) but weaker. Actually, the coolest superhero is the one that doesn't have any superpowers but instead has a super gadget, lol.

Anyways, I feel this could have been a lot more but considering that it is a production by Netflix it could have been much worse. It stinks of mediocrity when it comes to casting, special effects and anything else and felt somewhat rushed. Also it sucks that it didn't have many action fight scenes.

Overall, an okayish watch if you like superhero shit and have nothing better to watch.

I'll give it a 6/10.

Smile... I was trying to remember which person you were referring to that has supergadget. Then it occurred to me that it was the son of the villain who had this gadget that can make him teleport to any place he says. That is very awesome. In a way, he is powerful. I love the way he killed THE BOSS; He just commanded it to disappear to the heart of the boss then the deal is done. That is line one of my best scene in the movie.

The biggest shocker to me was the ending of the movie, realizing that the brother of the great utopian could kill his daughter because he wants to lead the super heroes. That's crazy mehn.

I just wrote my review on Jupiter's Legacy. Guess I am a little more positive about it, I also forgot to mention that it is really low action, but I like some of the characters and I really wanna know what happened to George.

Lately all the stuff coming out has been boring crap or just no real story to it. Not sure even after this review I'll be spending time on it.

I'm glad for the honesty, honestly. Okayish is good for those sleepless nights of mine when my brain no longer wants to be creative or the kids keep waking up. I'll check it out.

Thank you for giving us your opinion, as you say it's not really worth the time lost, especially being a series has the quality of making you curious enough to see the next episode ... and so on.

there can#t be enough superhero movies. do you know if another season is planned?

I just finished watching it and I agree with your point of view.

At some points of the show, I didn't really know if it was trying to be lame on purpose or it was just poor writing. I mean, what the hell are those uniforms and names?! lol

The whole flashback thing is what saved this first season (or volume) in my opinion. It was actually a lot more interesting than the "present day" plot. I believe a solid 6 is indeed a good rating.

I agree it was meh, but after reading your post I decided to re-examine it.

I feel it was more focused on the origin story and the reason for the rules of the Union. It is those rules that are the main villain in the story and set up Volume 2.

So for a super hero movie it was missing the big fights / special effects etc...

but tried to be more like Falcon / Winter Solider and focus on creating characters and setting.

It is still meh tho :)

I love the setting, the cinematography is stunning, my favourite kind or superhero is actually the one i cannot predict how easy their superpowers is, but since it TV series I think you might grow to like it episode by episode. Hahaha 6/10 not bad

I don't know if watching superhero movies is proof of brain :P they are not known for intricate or thought provoking plots :)

Hardly have time for Television. I find tv series to be a bit too long so I mostly don't bother. Last Netflix series I can remember watching completely was The Witcher

Another series?? I have not even started the last one you talked about. I guess I will just move at my pace. I have added to my list of series.
