I was checking out Netflix today at work to see if there's anything decent enough to kill my time. Didn't find anything that peaked my interest other than an anime called "Parasyte: The Maxim".
Did some googling first as I didn't want to start anything too long. I am too old and busy to watch an anime that's 500+ episodes 😳😅 Turns out parasyte is just one season long (25 eps) making it perfect for a quick binge watch.
Here's a quick breakdown of the plot
The 16-year-old Izumi Shinichi lives with his mother and father in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo. One night, worm-like aliens called Parasytes invade Earth, taking over the brains of human hosts by entering through their ears or noses. source
Parasyte is a Japanese science fiction horror manga series written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki and published in Kodansha's Morning Open Zōkan and Monthly Afternoon magazine from 1988 to 1995. The manga was published in North America first by Tokyopop, then Del Rey, and finally Kodansha USA. The series follows Shinichi Izumi, a high school senior who is the victim of a failed attempt by a parasyte organism to take over his brain. Instead of burrowing into his brain, the parasyte landed in his hand and matured partially up his arm.source
So far I am ten episodes in and I really love what I a seeing. I like the style of the animation, the fights, the gore, the voice acting and the occasional adult humor. Music is not exactly my taste but it's good enough. The story and the characters are also quite interesting and I can't wait to see how it concludes!
So far I will give this one an 9/10. If you like scifi, aliens, gore and anime I think you will love it! I let ya know if my final thoughts in a couple days when I'll finish it!
