Review by @van.illa 🎵3 🎬3 · 2h · of War Machine · 1 view

The movie War Machine is a military science fiction. It's an action thriller that was directed by Patrick Hughes, the main character, Alan Ritchson who is the center of the story. He is called 81 in this movie.

War machine begins with a military survival story. Before the scientific fiction began, what began as military training, ended as a fight for survival. A group of army rangers in training were faced with a very mysterious and powerful machine that kills really fast, made of very strong metals and built extremely huge.

The character, 81, a character played by Ritchson, is a soldier carrying the burden and weight of losing his brother and teammates due to an explosion that he alone survived. He carried the personal weight to accomplish his ranger selection in connection to his late brother. Being a ranger is a dream he planned to accomplish with his late brother, but death took his brother away, and not accomplishing that dream with his brother made him go through trauma and silent pains.

The greatest strength of this movie is the action, the powerful machine, the explosives the machine possessed, gun fire on every side, and surviving such a machine with human skills and weapons felt impossible. The soldiers try desperately to escape this machine because it seems impossible to defeat a machine that is bigger, possesses more weapons, built to destroy and way bigger than the height of ten men. The visuals of this movie were excellent and spectacular, the landscape used gave a sense of isolation. I find the character development of this movie a good one.

The character development is another strength of this movie. The main character, 81, by Alan Ritchson, is a character that the viewers watched his development. His journey in this movie is compelling, his determination to make to the ranger squad was deeply connected to his brother. From the beginning, he was that character that isolated himself from every other soldier, but as the movie progressed, we watched him evolve. He built a strong bond with his team, was able to lead them, and it kept evolving, showing many other vulnerable parts of a man whose emotions were locked up from the beginning.

The development of this character made this movie much more engaging, because it was a fight for survival. There was no limitation in character development in this movie. The soldiers weren't presented as individuals whose aim was to fight and defeat, but this movie gradually reveals their emotions like humans, their fear, their bond/relationship they share .

This review would make no sense without writing about how the character, the character, 81 was so fit for his role, his acting was so natural. The way he embodied his role made it very believable to me that he was going to survive the mysterious machine. Also, his supporting cast: Dennis Quaid,, Jai, Esai Morales, Keiynan Lonsdale, Stephan James and Courtney all made this movie fun to watch and added variety to the military unit.

At some point, watching War Machine felt like I was watching the movie Predator, Transformers and some military survival movies I had watched in the past, and that is where the story loses its originality. The storyline wasn't so new or original to me. It was really similar to most military survival movies I have watched, but I still enjoyed watching.

The emotional theme of this movie was surrounding grief, trauma, brotherhood, teamwork and perseverance.

This is a movie that focused on survival and teamwork, which made watching easier and very straightforward.

War Machine is a military science story, an interesting movie watch. However, the science fiction of the movie is one that would make the viewer suspend their disbelief and just accept to believe. The actions in the movie are what I enjoyed the most about the movie. The actions and every character displayed these actions perfectly. War Machine felt like a reinvention of the regular military science fiction, but it was worth watching. The movie delivered enough suspense, actions and explosions. For movie lovers who enjoy military action mixed with science fiction, I would recommend War Machine (2026). I will rate this movie 80/100
