Author's note: The folloing movie review was published on January 27th in Spanish language here in Steemit.

I must confess that this movie, which was released on Netflix in January 25th, left me a little unconvinced. Adapted from the Spaniard cartoonist Victor Santos' webcomic (which I hope to get and read it someday), Polar is a movie that reminds you of the ones starred by actors of the 90's as like as Jean Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Dolph Lundgren, between others; of course, it has its healthy dosage of violence, as well as some decently comical scenes and the high concentration from his lead actor, Mads Mikkelsen, with great professionalism. In fact, is due to this actor, whom many may have seen in films like Clash of the Titans and 007: Casino Royal, that this movie isn't ruined at all. I mean, at least Mr. Mikkelsen didn't waste efforts on being a Netflix version of John Wick. As a matter of fact, some fans of the mentioned trilogy consider him as a lost relative.
The story entertains despite its ups and downs and to generate that it was written with the feet. It entertains and, briefly at the ending, explains the meaning of some elements that accompany Mikkelsen's Black Kaiser along the visual ride between oversaturated colors and violence while he struggles to save a Vanessa Hudgens' Camille so disconnected of the reality and with more secrets that Black Kaiser himself.
However, it was the organization Damocles, the main antagonists, that made me feel unconvinced about this film. I have to admit that I didn't know if they had just come out of a fashion show by John Galliano or a school anime because of the ostentatious, brightly colored and semi-quirky clothes, or from a GTA Saint Andreas videogame gang due to their gangster behavior. Is like we are before a group of bullies from a typical American high school composed by the jock (Alexei), the cheerlander (Hilde), the one who sleeps with everyone (Sindy), the hippie (Regina), the jock's friends (Facundo and Karl), everyone's mom (Vivian), and the lap (Mr. Blut).
All these enemies seemed like cardboard, as fast was their entrance as their exit, without any kind of hand-to-hand combat between one of them and the Black Kaiser. Did they know that Vivian was right when she told Blut to make an exception with the world's most lethal assassin? Judge by yourselves.
