The plot of the film was based on a book written by the author of the world-famous magazine Sports Illustrated Joe Posnanski. Joe Paterno trained football players at the University of Pennsylvania for 46 years, and as a result, athletes managed to set a record for the number of victories won. Paterno was fired in 2011 because of a sex scandal: the investigation managed to find out that he knew about the illegal actions of his assistant Jerry Sandusky, who seduced 15-year-olds in the shower rooms for ten years, but did not prevent it. So brilliant career Paterno ended in a painful fall from the height of success, and on the morning of January 22, 2012, the legendary coach passed away.
