Perhaps it's my morbid brain, but I find this title kind of pretty. One of my best friends lived in a house at the cemetery. His father is an undertaker and - as he takes care of the cemetery too - he got a house right where his job is. As a teenager, I visited my friend - and thus the cemetery - multiple times per week. When the gate wasn't open - out of office hours - I usually slipped through the conifers between their neighbors house and the cemetery's front garden. I remember visiting them on Sundays many times and sometimes having to sneak through these trees in front of the eyes of Protestant people going to or coming back from Sunday mass. It made me feel like a heathen, even though I was just visiting a friend.
The House by the Cemetery is the third and last movie in Lucio Fulci's 'death' trilogy, following City of the Living Dead and The Beyond
I find it hard to compare these three films, as I only watched them once and that is years ago. But, I can tell you one thing: I enjoyed watching all three of them. There isn't much difference in quality, something that is often the case in movie series. Especially when there's loads of time between sequels and when they aren't made by the same director. Fulci made these three films in two years. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
Here's the trailer. And, before you give it a watch, let me remind you once again that Lucio isn't named 'The Godfather of Gore' for nothing. Enjoy this - if you can - or don't watch it at all ;>)
If any of you has seen - or finds the chance to watch - this trilogy, I would love to hear your view on it in a comment to this post. Or, who knows, perhaps you even want to write about it yourself?
