I haven't written a movie post in a while, so I felt it was about time. The Day of the Dolphin is a 1973 movie directed by Mike Nichols. who - over half a century ago - directed The Graduate ( dustin Hoffman's breakthrough as an actor ).
The Day of the Dolphin has an IMDb story description that sounds like it could make for an awesome B-Movie:
"A marine biologist teaches his dolphins to communicate in English but shady characters plan to kidnap the trained mammals for a more sinister purpose."
Nevertheless, it managed to get two Oscar Nominations ( Best Sound & Best Musical Score ).
Okay, who am I kidding here? I never saw The Day of the Dolphin. I wonder if it's better than the TV series Flipper that I used to watch as a kid. Or if it reaches the dramatic intensity of Free Willy. I will probably never know, as I don't plan to watch this movie.
Alright, let's cut the crap. I leveled up towards Dolphin level today, in other words: 5000 SP. I'm not gonna lie, I had to do some buying for it. I exchanged a couple of coins for Steem and then powered up.
I have been dreaming of becoming a dolphin, since I entered this platform. I never had the ambition to become a whale. Nevertheless, after over two years of minnow hood and feeling that the dolphins kept swimming ahead of me, I started to get somewhat tired. So, over time, I bought myself a faster motor.
Today was the day where I finally caught up with the other dolphins. It's fun to play together.
All joking aside, most of my Steemian friends are minnows and - now I've turned myself into a beautiful dolphin - I'm not gonna behave differently ( towards them ).
The biggest change will be that my upvote is worth a little bit more. It's crazy that, even now, it's only worth 5 dollar cents. I remember the days, probably at the height of the 2017 bull market, where my 100% vote was worth 20 cents. A funny thought, as I had way less Steem Power back then. I guess the Steem coin was worth 20 times more back then.
Anyhow, I haven't lost faith in the platform. In fact, I'm starting to like it more and more. A bunch of new tokens ( especially Creative Coin, but also PAL coin and LEO ) have made writing and investing even more attractive. Besides that, I am meeting more and more interesting people on here and, let's be honest, this place ( and especially the Discord chat ) is where a bunch of my best friends hang out. So, believe me when I say that I have no plans of leaving anytime soon :>)
In about two and a half weeks, I will meet up in real life with @yangyanje and he and I are gonna do some awesome things. I can't wait to share our travels, adventures, creativity and upcoming projects with you all. Actualy, I can wait and I'll have to. I am pretty patient these days, due to daily meditation.
