Manchester Junto Al Mar como fue llamado aquí en Latinoamérica, es una película escrita y dirigida por Kenneth Lonergan un director que en verdad desconocía, así que indague un poco por su bibliografía y digamos que viene de dirigir en teatro tuvo su opera prima You Can Count on Me, la cual le valió una nominación al Oscar al mejor guion original, cosa que no sabía, hasta que llego su más grande éxito “Manchester By The Sea” el cual tuvo la participación de los protagonista, Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler y Lucas Hedges. La película fue aclamada por la crítica y el público en general, afianzando la actuación de Casey Affleck como la mejor actuación en los premios Oscar Y el guion original por parte de su director.

Manchester By The Sea, as it was called here in Latin America, is a film written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan, a director that I really didn't know, so I did some research on his bibliography and let's say that after directing in the theater he had his first feature film You Can Count on Me, which earned him an Oscar nomination for best original script, which I didn't know, until his biggest hit "Manchester By The Sea" came along, which had the participation of the main characters, Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler and Lucas Hedges. The film was acclaimed by critics and the general public, establishing Casey Affleck's performance as the best actor at the Oscars AND the original script by its director.

Esta película tiene una historia digna de admirar, su sutileza y sencillez la hace grandiosa, diferenciándola de todo lo visto en el género dramático. El film nos narra la triste vida de Lee Chandler “Casey Affleck”, un conserje de una pequeña residencia ubicada en la ciudad de Quincy en Massachusetts, tratado de muy mala manera por las personas que viven dentro del recinto, añadiendo su actitud netamente inerte y fría carente de emociones, el cual un día recibe una terrible noticia, su hermano había muerto y tendría que hacerse cargo de su sobrino Patrick Chandler “Lucas Hedges”, esto hace que nuestro protagonista tenga que volver al pequeño pueblo de su niñez Manchester, el cual trae recuerdos del terrible pasado que aconteció en este.

Intentare hacer esta reseña sin revelar un detalle importante de la trama, así que discúlpenme la vida si se me escapa algo de esta magistral obra, Manchester junto al mar es una película que conmueve desde principio a fin, cada escena esta tratada con una sutileza, realismo y maestría que ya desde el comienzo nos da un pequeño interludio de cómo es nuestro protagonista su actitud fría, su mirada que sin decir mucha palabra expresa tanto y trasmite un gran sentimiento, esto hace que nosotros como espectador empaticemos con él, queriendo averiguar qué fue lo que paso con él, lo cual esto la película te lleva a la perfección y al momento de descubrir ese triste pasado que lo atormenta, es aquí cuando ya nosotros como observadores no aguantamos las lágrimas y sentimos como propio el profundo dolor de nuestro Lee.

I will try to make this review without revealing an important detail of the plot, so excuse me if I miss something of this masterful work, Manchester by the Sea is a film that moves from beginning to end, each scene is treated with a subtlety, realism and mastery that from the beginning gives us a little interlude of how our protagonist is his cold attitude, his look that without saying much word expresses so much and transmits a great feeling, this makes us as a spectator empathize with him, wanting to find out what happened with him, which is what the film brings you to perfection and the moment of discovering that sad past that torments him, it is here when we as observers cannot stand the tears and feel as our own the deep pain of our Lee.

Hablando de Lee, interpretado por Casey Affleck un actor muy famoso por películas como Ocean ElevenS “La Gran Estafa” , The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford y Interestelar, también conocido por ser el hermano menor del aún más conocido Ben Affleck. Este papel se convirtió en mis interpretaciones favoritas de la vida, lo que consiguió Casey en este papel es increíble, una actuación perfecta en el papel de pies a cabeza, como su mirada como mencione anteriormente te hacen sentir tanto dolor, esas actitudes frías, como lidiaba con su pasado y la culpa, aunque no lo era lo destruía cada día, todo esto lo interpreto de perfecta manera, tengo dos escenas que me dejaron con un triste sentimiento de dolor, La primera es la que surge en comisaria en donde nuestro protagonista intenta realizar un suicidio y la ultima la guinda sobre el pastel, es casi al final en donde tiene una conversación a sola con su esposa en donde con lágrimas en los ojos le dice “ Ya no hay nada allí, No hay nada Allí” Escenas como esas te parten el alma y te hace pensar de que personas viven un infierno así o similar, pero que sienten el dolor como Lee de forma contenida sin que los demás sepan y guardándoselos para ellos mismo.

Speaking of Lee, played by Casey Affleck, an actor very famous for films such as Ocean ElevenS "The Big Scam" The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Interstellar, also known as the younger brother of the even more famous Ben Affleck. This role became my favorite interpretations of life, what Casey achieved in this role is incredible, a perfect performance in the role from head to toe, as his look as I mentioned above make you feel so much pain, those cold attitudes, how he dealt with his past and guilt, even though it was not it destroyed him every day, all this I interpret in a perfect way, I have two scenes that left me with a sad feeling of pain, The first one is the one that arises in the station where our protagonist tries to carry out a suicide and the last one is the cherry on the cake, it is almost at the end where he has a conversation alone with his wife where with tears in his eyes he says to her "There is nothing there, there is nothing there" Scenes like that break your soul and makes you think that people live a hell like that or similar, but they feel the pain as Lee in a contained way without the others knowing and keeping them for themselves.
