Ashes Of Love (That's A Wrap)

I think the first time I heard mention of this series was while I was watching Marcus Here, an asian entertainment YouTuber. At the time he showed clips and images of the series and I did not like the look of the lead actors.

I do watch clips of almost anything that pops up in my stream though (which is mainly Asian dramas). So when this started popping up my interest was piqued. It takes a while if ever before I decide to get into a series. I'm not sure what it was that grabbed my attention but I dove in with doubts.

It starts with a quick introduction of some of the characters which in the beginning is a bit confusing. I think this could throw anyone from continuing as it goes too fast for you to get a grasp of who is who and what connections they have.

I think it was the innocence of the female lead (Jin Mi, played by Yang Zi) that kept me watching. When she was born, her mother gave her a pill that would prevent her from falling in love.

Some years later it flashes to the heavenly realm where the legitimate royal heir (Xu Feng, played by Deng Lun) is going through some ritual and his mother (Tu Yao, played by Kathy Chow) is on edge refusing to let anyone near him until his trial is over. There is an attack on him as he is attempting his phoenix form for the first time and this is how he ends up in the flora realm where he meets Jin Mi.

She is so innocent she does not know the difference between male and female and attempts to castrate the heavenly prince thinking his 🤔 is a tumor. 🤣🤣

After some time healing Xu Feng goes back to the heavenly realm taking the flower fairy back with him. More characters are introduced and the story proceeds a bit at a snail's pace as Xu Feng's love for Jin Mi grows.

Little does he know she cannot return his feelings. She is not immediately introduced to the royal parents but she does meet the elder prince (Run Yu, played by Luo Yun Xi) who also falls in love with her.

Hmm, brothers fighting over a girl. A little overdone??

In my opinion, it is the supporting cast that I like the most. The uncle (Dan Zhu, played by Xia Zhi Yuan) is the moon immortal or the god of love. His character is humorous and playful. He goes around tying red strings on people he wants to get together. This includes Jin Mi and Xu Feng, whom uncle absolutely adores.

Lord Put Chi, better known as Yan You is the ever-present and often summoned best friend of Jin Mi.

Then there is Jin Mi's second biggest supporter next to uncle, Liu Ting, played by Chen Yu Qi. I had to include the photo of Liu Ying with the love of her life Mu Ci played by Zou Ting Wei.

Jin Mi is loved by most of the people in the Heavenly realm but those who do not like her after finding out Xu Feng is in love with her. Mainly Xu Feng's mother and the leader of the bird tribe to whom his mother plans on marrying him to.

In essence, Xu Feng and Jin Mi go through a lot to be together.

The costumes were beautiful and the sets were well crafted. The plot and the actor's chemistry were another positive for this series.

Overall, it is a decent show even though I feel the producers could have accomplished the end goal with fewer episodes.

Watch it and let me know what you think.

I usually don't watch this kind of series, I like more romantic Doramas hahaha but in the current time, very few I've seen with fantasy theme but this review is interesting, I'll probably watch it. Thanks for sharing 💜
