ENGLISH VERSION
The Addams Family (1991): A Very Peculiar Family
Good afternoon, Scrobble community, today I bring you another classic that I'm sure most of you have seen and enjoyed. I know there are several versions of this story, both in movies and series, but I think my favorite will always be this adaptation.
So, without further ado, let's start with the movie.
🎬 A bit of context
It all begins when the Addams family believes they have found their Uncle Lucas, who had been missing for almost 25 years. According to the story they are told, Lucas had traveled to the Bermuda Triangle, where he lost his memory and disappeared.
The man who appears bears a striking resemblance to Lucas, but he doesn't remember anything about his previous life. Who brings him to the family is a woman who pretends to be Dr. Pinderschloss, a supposed specialist who has been helping him with his recovery.
At first, the family is happy to have Uncle Lucas back, but little by little they start to notice some strange things. Although he physically resembles him, his behavior doesn't quite match what they remember.
To celebrate his return, the Addamses throw a big party and invite family and friends. Lucas doesn't recognize anyone, but during the traditional Mamushka, he manages to dance and perform the same pirouettes they remember him doing. This makes the family start to think that he may have really recovered some memories.
However, behind it all, there is a plan. The supposed Dr. Pinderschloss and the family lawyer, Tully Alford, are involved in a scheme to seize the Addams fortune. The man posing as Lucas is Gordon Craven, the son of the woman behind the scam.
Thanks to some documents, they manage to make everyone believe that Gordon is actually Uncle Lucas and that, therefore, he has the right to the house and the family fortune. Thus, the Addams end up being expelled from their own house.
But as Gordon spends time with them, he starts to genuinely grow fond of the family. Although at first it was part of the deception, he begins to doubt his mission and decides to confront those who brought him there to try to return their home.
And here lies the big question: Is Gordon really Uncle Lucas or was it all part of a deception?
If you want to know what happened, I invite you to watch the movie, and if you've already seen it, you have to watch it again haha.

⚠ ALERT: From here on out, there will be many spoilers, so be careful.
♥ What I liked the most
This movie seems so fun and entertaining to me. It's the kind of movie you can watch over and over again and never get bored.
Among the funniest scenes I saw is when they throw this big party for Lucas and various relatives and family friends start arriving.
On one hand, I really like the dance they perform, the Mamushka. It seemed that Lucas had remembered all the steps, because it wasn't just a dance, but they also threw knives and did pirouettes. I found it very entertaining.
Another funny scene is when the lawyer's wife meets Uncle Thing, a character who has hair all over his body haha. It seems they start socializing and, although she doesn't like him at all at first, they end up getting along very well, to the point of starting to date haha.
I also like the relationship between the family's children, Merlina and Pericles. They are always playing, but in a super intense way, with knives and other dangerous weapons, although they seem to enjoy it a lot. Even on one occasion, their mother Morticia swaps their weapon for a bigger one so they can play better, haha.
Similarly, when the children starred in a play, the scene was about a death fight, and they managed to create a great effect with the blood. With the help of their uncle Lucas, they were able to make it even more realistic.
And another thing I have always liked about these movies is the romance and love that exists between Homer and Morticia. It's a love in their own style, a bit gory, a bit extreme, a bit crazy haha, but you can feel that they are meant for each other. Obviously, there are the typical kisses that Homer gives Morticia on the arms and his words in French to refer to her affectionately.
I really like that each family member has their own particularity. There's also the grandmother, who cooks and performs various spells. The butler Largo, who doesn't speak and only makes noises, but is still very funny. And Fingers, who is also very funny despite being just a hand, but helps his family a lot.
💭 Some reflections
In this specific movie, I always thought the story was somewhat confusing haha, because at first it seemed to be Uncle Lucas, but then it seemed like it was all a trick, and in the end, it really was him haha.
There are many unexpected twists, because it turned out he had gone to the Bermuda Triangle and had indeed lost his memory. What still raises some questions for me is how he ended up being found and how he got involved in this woman's and the lawyer's entire plan.
And that, when did it happen? Because he was lost for 25 years and then what exactly happened? Well, there are several questions that come to mind hehe, but I never stop enjoying this movie.
If anyone knows more about my questions, they can write it in the comments hehe. And I would also like to know which scene you liked the most.
Have a great day and see you in the next post.
