🎬Watching novelties. American Horror Story: Cult

Review by @weeklystats · 3219d · of American Horror Story: Cult

Attention. This text contains SPOILERS.

The season premiere took place on 05/09/2017, the last episode will be released on November 14, 2017. The season consists of 11 episodes. Theme of this season is Cult.
The episode begins unusually: we are shown cuts with Trump and Clinton's pre-election speeches, protests on American streets. The main color of the cutting: Trump is a monster, the embodiment of the Devil on Earth and he will bring only chaos and ruin.
To be honest, I was unpleasantly surprised. I do not bow to either of these candidates, they are both bad.

But I am so tired of this constant rehashing of the Trump's win. And now the same topic will begin to shove in all sorts of TV series. For example in "Homeland", a parody of Trump is already sitting in the president's chair.
The election night. The characters of Sarah Paulson (Ally Mayfair-Richards) and Evan Peters (Kai Anderson) watch TV and start hysterical when they hear about Trump's victory. At this point, it's time to turn off the episode, but I'm holding on. The girls communicate on the phone, discussing that the world is going to hell and tomorrow the country will roll back 100 years ago.
So, we met in the first episode:
- Ally Mayfair-Richards. Lesbian, married to Ivy Mayfair-Richards (Alison Pill), they have a son. Hysterical, full of phobias, afraid of everything. A psychologist and tablets must be her best friends. She begins to fever with every mentioned a word "election". Ally's state of mind perfectly shown in the supermarket scene, where even the trolley wheel shows how strained the nerves of the heroine. The main intrigue for me in her character is she really being watched by clowns or is she hallucinating well? I would not be surprised if Kai Andreson wears a mask with three faces.
- Kai Anderson is a freaking psycho. He attracts attention and I guess this is the best acting of Evan Peters. While I want to watch this season for the sake of his character. He clearly follows the Richardsons and somehow wants to punish them. The scene with Mexicans amused.
- Winter Anderson (Billie Lourd) is a nanny Ally and Ivy son. Her acting did not impress me, but maybe her character will open further. She introduces the boy into the world of murders and violence, showing him the clips in the darknet and the real massacre in the neighboring house. She is connected with Kai somehow.

What more can be said? I was pleased the number of clowns per square meter. I suspect that both the psychologist and Ivy are also clowns, especially after the final hysterics in bed. The opening is awesome, almost a real piece of art. I like the return of one of the heroes from previous seasons and the "way" of his return.
I didn't like the excessive politicization and propaganda. Hate for Trump is literally saturated every minute of the episode. It seems that the season was made to order. It's time to introduce a new genre - political horrors, although it's almost not scary, rather unexpected.
