I would like to say only this, "They failed to make true entertaining even a formula movie".
Hehe, I have to see it, it looks like I'm going to love it! Hehe
I understand your disappointment, however, perhaps each film is made for a different type of viewer. I'm sure I'll love it because your review helps me imagine the plot and it looks interesting. Thank you.
I completely agree with your point, @wiseagent. Sometimes we judge these kinds of productions by demanding a level of narrative depth that the directors themselves never intended to provide. Jon Lucas and Scott Moore have always aimed to deliver straightforward entertainment—a quick, uncomplicated "escape valve" for viewers who simply want to switch off for a while after a grueling week.
Not every film needs to impart a profound life lesson or revolutionize the genre; lighthearted, escapist humor has its own audience and its own place. Even if the script is predictable and relies on clichés, if it manages to get a few laughs through the cast's chemistry and physical comedy, it has achieved its main goal. At the end of the day, commercial escapist cinema exists for exactly that reason: to have a good time without overthinking things.
