Kandahar|| A Movie With Lessons To Be Learnt.

Review by @wongi · 1092d · of Kandahar

Hello movie lovers.✨

Today, I'm going to be reviewing a movie that is one of a kind; not in a bad way but in a good way. For as long as I can remember, I have been avoiding this particular movie because at some point, I skimmed through the movie and just concluded that the movie was going to be boring. Well, I was wrong to an extent.

Kandahar is an action packed movie with so many thrills and activities. To be honest, the beginning of the movie was a bit dull for me. I still had second thoughts at the beginning; should I keep watching or should I just give up?. Well, you must have guessed the choice I made and I'm glad I made that choice.

Kandahar is an action thriller movie that was released on the 26th of May. Most of the movies I have reviewed so far were released in May and nine out of ten have been very interesting movies.

About The Movie

An undercover CIA agent–Tom– gets stuck in a very unfriendly territory in Afghanistan. Due to certain circumstances, his mission is exposed. Tom alongside his translator have to make it to their extraction point in Kandahar else, their lives would be wasted.

Tom fights tooths and nails to get himself and his translator to safety and this is what the movie centres around.

Cast

Gerard Butler as Tom Harris

Tom is the undercover CIA operative whose mission gets exposed. He is stuck in a very hostile and dangerous territory and his new mission is to get home alive.

Gerard is one actor that knows his onions and most of his movies that I've seen have been good. Kandahar is one of such movies.

Travis Fimmel as Roman

Roman sends Tom on a mission but when he finds out that the mission has been sabotaged, he gets in touch with some old friends.

Roman was one of my favourite characters because of his valour and dexterity. Although he didn't have much screen time, the little time he appeared on screen was wonderful. He played a very vital role in the movie

Ali Fazal as Kahil Nasir

png_20230806_173603_0000.png

Kahil was one of the "antagonists" per say. He was part of the people who were after Tom. He is one very vicious counterpart and all of his actions made the movie more interesting.

Navid Negahban as Doud

Doud was one character that got me really emotional. He was one character that demonstrated so many good attributes. Viewers who follow his acts steadily would learn a whole lot from him.

Doud was Tom's translator and he had to follow Tom every step of the way due to the language barrier.

Bahador Foladi as Farzad Asadi

png_20230806_174028_0000.png

Farzad was another very strong counterpart. He played a very vital part and he made watching the movie worth watching. Farzad plays the role of a character who serves his country to the very end.

My Opinion

The series of action in this movie is just mind-blowing. At some point, I was doing a lot of calculations. Thinking about whether or not an event would happen. What route or what new skim would a character come up with. I tried to predict every succeeding scene but to no avail.

The casts were good and the plot isn't one that can easily be predicted. By watching this movie, I signed up for an emotional rollercoaster as every scene evoked different emotions. There were scenes that would get you pissed, scenes that could make you smile and even scenes that could lead you to shed a tear.

One of my favourite scenes was when all hope was lost but Doud still stood by Tom. He told Tom "I've got you" even in the face of death. This scene was a really emotional one and I couldn't help but get teary eyes.

Recommendation

One of the reasons why I watch movies is to learn. If we face it squarely, there are usually lots of lessons to be learnt from good movies and Kandahar is one good movie.

This movie delves into the quote "teamwork can make the dream work". It shows that you can go far by yourself but you can go further with your team. Forgiveness, love, teamwork, persistence, and lots more are portrayed in this masterpiece.

With that, I would recommend this movie to anyone who is up for some action. Also, If you are up for learning a few lessons then grab yourself a bowl of popcorn and your favourite drink as you watch this movie because Kandahar is just the movie for you. If you eventually get to watch it, I hope you like it.

Astonishing review, I love intelligent action movies because an agent might be working with the CIA and still belong to a very powerful syndicate, the suspense is always awesome.

    Thanks for sharing.

The reason I enjoy movies like this and not like our dear Nigerian movies is that they are unpredictable. The suspense and action thrilled are what makes a movie fun and interesting to watch. Can I find this on Netflix? I need to watch one tonight 😊 #dreemport
