I can not exactly wrap my head around the last time I saw a full fledged action spy movie and that too Mission impossible. For as long as I can remember, different parts of the American action spy film, Mission impossible, have come out and usually people are always so psyched about it.
I do not like seeing a movie when everyone else in the world is seeing it too. Why? Because the movie would end before it even starts; especially the good one. I can remember on many occasions how people narrated the entire plot of some movies I intended to see and believe me when I say that it felt like I had already watched these movies. I have very good narrators around me.
In the same light, the aforementioned reason is why I ceased to watch "Mission impossible; dead reckoning part one" when it was initially released. I purposely avoided any conversation whatsoever about the movie and here I am, four months later. So far, I haven't heard anyone hype the movie anymore, this way, I watched the movie without any spoilers.
About The Movie.
"Mission Impossible:Dead Reckoning" is an American action spy film released on the 12th of July 2023 and directed by the one and only Christopher McQuarrie. There are so many phrases that can be used to describe this movie but "splendid masterpiece" would do for the moment.
Mission impossible:dead reckoning is basically about a new and improved weapon. Ethan and his IMF team mates and meant to track down this weapon which can be absolutely lethal in the wrong hands. It is a war ground with so many people on Ethan's trail.
Unlike the power thirsty villians, Ethan is after the good of humanity but like they say, nothing good comes easy. The series of events that lead to the possession of this lethal weapon are just mind blowing.
Cast
I feel really excited talking about this cast. I guess this feeling is inevitable due to how tremendously well the casts performed.
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
Tom Cruise has played the role of Ethan Hunt for forever and each time he shows up, he brings his A game. This is evident in the way he acts and how effortlessly and flawlessly he does so. Tom Cruise Is indisputably one actor that knows his onions.
Ethan Hunt was specifically sent on a mission to retrieve a key. To accomplish this mission, he needed his team mates. This is yet another proof that no man is an island; even the best of the bests. Ethan skillfully manoeuvres his way throughout the mission, amidst the turbulence and glitches, he still manages to stay afloat.
Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell
Ving Rhames is one other prominent actor in the movie industry but I haven't seen so much of home lately. He played the role of Luther Stickell –one of Ethan Hunt's team mates. Such people are usually needed during missions because of their expertise.
Luther tried his best to manage all the casualties from the backend while Ethan handled the front end. So Luther was somewhat like the brain while Ethan was the muscles.
Hayley Atwell as Grace
Grace was one character that made me question the talents humans have. She was an expert pickpocket and research has shown that people who are expert pickpockets didn't have it easy during their childhood days.
Her socially unacceptable talent was harnessed by another person, making her a vital pawn in this impossible mission. She performed beautifully and I must say that I was extremely impressed.
Henry Czerny as Agent Eugene
Agent Eugene and Ethan Hunt had history. The tension that emanates between two people who had history is always a really entrancing sight to behold. However, they didn't end on a right foot making them enemies.
Just like Ethan, Agent Eugene was on a mission and as one would expect, his mission was the direct opposite of Ethan's mission.
His timely and gentlemanly appearance made his character look more attractive. He was basically a ghost but a ghost on a mission.
My Opinion
This was a really good watch. It was amazing seeing a movie under the action spy genre that is actually good, after a while. One thing that always gets me in all mission impossible movies is the action songs played in the background. The songs are always perfectly timed and I'd give it up to the brains behind this.
The fact that they brought in the word "entity" which was "all knowing" made the movie even more captivating. The entity was a high end technology which had its own feelings and could make decisions by itself. This was a very clever addition to the plot.
It is amusing how the quality of this series hasn't dwindled over the years, rather, it keeps getting better each time. I liked how I was able to watch this movie with the knowingness that it was close to perfection.
Almost every scene in the movie was captivating. One could tell that each scene was a follow up of the successor and that the scenes were not just added to contribute to the length of the movie. The valour with which each and every one of the actors and actresses performed was just commendable.
Recommendation.
This is one movie that I can see over and over again with no regrets and this is coming from a person who isn't a sucker for action movies. I would wholeheartedly recommend this masterpiece to anyone who is looking to get entertained. Brace up as it is going to be one of the most well spent two hours of your life.
