On first glance, some people would dismiss this movies without a second thought because of the title; "Puppy love". They would probably expect to see a bunch of puppies running around and wiggling their tails. They aren't exactly wrong as there are dogs and puppies involved.
In my part of the world, whenever a person is given the opportunity to choose between a cat or a dog, a greater percentage would go for the dog. I do not have a problem with this. Coincidentally, after seeing this movie yesterday, I went out with a friend to get some snacks and right there by the entrance was an adorable puppy. The puppy looked really scared as many people were walking in and out. All I wanted to do was grab the puppy and carass its hair but my friend told me this wasn't right. Because, I didn't know if the puppy was vaccinated. All I could do was stare with so much adoration.
Puppy love is a movie about this form of adoration. Released on the 18th of August, 2023 , the movie is a masterpiece directed by Richard Alan Reid and Nick Fabiano. It is an American romantic comedy that promises to be entertaining!
About The Movie
After an utterly disastrous first blind date, Nicole and Max vow to delete each other's numbers. Their vows were going smoothly until they learned that their dogs found a love match and to top it all up, they had puppies on the way.
The plot may seem very predictable at first but the build up of events that followed the love match were just entrancing. Especially when two of the main characters were direct opposites on the personality wheel.
Cast
Lucy Hale as Nicole
First thing I would like to say about her is that she is one very pretty cast. Nicole is a free spirit who doesn't like to bother herself with so much, not even her hygiene. All she is interested in is living her life. Along the line, she is cladded with the responsibility of taking care of a furry friend. From here, her life pretty much takes a turn.
Grant Gustin as Max
Max is the most socially anxious character I have ever seen since I started watching movies. Apart from his social anxiety, he was also a very sanitary character. He ensured that he cleaned any surface a human had come in contact with before touching such a surface. His character contrasts greatly with that of Nicole but the opposite is the case with his dog.
He adopted a dog due to his social anxiety and ever since then, he fell in love with the dog. With the dog in his space, his life starts to take shape.
Michael Hitchcock as Dr. Hert
There can't be a movie about furry friends without a veterinarian, or can there?. Dr. Hert is the veterinarian in this movie . A character with a fairly good sense of humour. He usually made these jokes that could take you two minutes of reasoning before understanding. Quite comical.
Al Miro as Hunter
Hunter played the role of Nicole's client. Weird would be the right term to describe him with. I came to this conclusion when he called a bathroom 'room for bath' in his accent.
Hunter's role was minor but went a long way in enhancing the viewers' wonderment.
Nore Davis as Sid
Sid is Max' colleague at work and always covered up for Mac. Sid was the only person Max was comfortable talking to before the entrance of his dog. If you have a friend that gives terrible advice, then that's Sid.
My Opinion.
I think this movie was lit. It was a totally interesting watch although the scene reveals were not the best. I enjoyed watching the movie from the start to finish. The coincidences, the flourishing love, the contrast and the general build up of events were just on point.
I must say that I had a good laugh while seeing this movie as the directors paid special attention to the comical aspect of the movie. One part that stood out for me was when Max and his friends went into a bathroom with the dog to test if the dog was pregnant using a pregnancy test strip. The test was obviously inconclusive because dogs can't be tested with a test strip for humans but they didn't know this. Just hilarious.
I would like to commend the directors and everyone who played a role in the production of this movie. One thing I know is that it isn't an easy task getting animals into their roles but it happened with no glaring mistakes. Just genius
Recommendation.
This movie contains everything a person could ask for and more. It is satirical, comical, educational, entertaining, name it. If you ever want to have a good laugh then I highly recommend this movie to you. I believe you would enjoy every bit of it.
