Writing about my childhood hero is taking me through an extraordinarily colorful nostalgia, the mystery, suspense and thriller all coagulated in a mesh of rainbow filled haze and the fresh smell of dirt just after a morning rain. After completing The Sherlock Omnibus for the seventh time it still was as wonderful as for the first time I read it. And all of that reading was just before I turned ten.
So inside one portion of my brain, Sherlock Holmes still resides as the greatest sleuth ever to exist. And for even a while I believed he was a real blood-filled human. It took me to realize the truth till my puberty.
For all the glory Sherlock bore in my mind, This movie failed to deliver even for the sake of it.
After a full decade when I am trying to write a review of this movie, it’s quite hard as I’m thinking it might be unjust to write whatever I am truly feeling because I’m judging it from a literary sentiment. As a Film it was good, at least to a few.

He is perfect as an arrogant Tony Stark but not as a clever eyed sharp faced Sherlock that the books painted. And the deductive intuition filled fast paced montage showing all the methodology of Sherlock solving the case is true in its visuals but false in how the facts an deduction the book Sherlock used

But I believed it’s not true. As the Watson in books was soldier AKA doctor AKA writer. Where Jude Law in the film look like a chemistry teacher from a really conservative British school from the 50’s
With the grand trend that started after 2000’s where the hero always saves the world or at least a city or two the movie followed the same path. Where’s Sherlock never was a navy seal, a spy or even a super hero.

But the plot of him coming back from the dead, killing the parliament and taking over the world made me think it was a mix of Rick Riordan and Dan Brown books. I do not think Conan Doyle ever envisioned such an antagonist for any of his books.
But despite all the hate, I would really like to give kudos to Robert Downey Jr as he did do his best to portray such a grand character and he succeeded doing so in his own way.
Guy Ritchie is good director who can build a neonoir like utopia or dystopia as seen in King Arthur: Legend of The Sword or The Man from UNCLE. But he almost ruined one of the greatest character of English literature. The third movie of this franchise is set to drop in 2021 with the same cast. At least the new had ten years’ worth of pitiless reviews to set him on the right path.
