I hadn't really shared this movie before because I didn't have a good community to review it in; I remember when it came out it caused quite a stir, both because of the cast and the fresh comedy. It was released on March 7, 2024, on Prime Video, and directed by Peter Farrelly, a two-time Oscar winner. It arrived somewhat quietly, but with a bang, and those who have seen it know it's definitely worth checking out.
Realmente no había compartido esta película porque no tenía una buena comunidad donde hacer reseñas; recuerdo que cuando salió causó un poquito de sensación, tanto por el elenco que aquí se encuentra como por la comedia fresca que hay aquí. Esta fue estrenada el 7 de marzo de 2024 en la plataforma de Prime Video, y dirigida por Peter Farrelly, ganador de dos Premios Óscar. Esta llegó un poco silenciosa, pero apostando por todo, y quienes han visto esta película saben que sí vale la pena darle el gusto.
One Halloween, three kids caused such a big problem that they had to invent a story to avoid punishment. This led them to create a fake friend to cover their tracks, but despite the seriousness of the situation, they maintain their story into the future, using "Ricky Stanicky" at every turn to excuse everything, turning their lives into a complete fabrication. The twist is that, to avoid everyone wondering about Stanicky's presence, they hire a failed actor (John Cena) who is about to surprise everyone.
Un Halloween, tres niños causaron un problema tan grande que tuvieron que inventar una historia para librarse de todo castigo. Esto los llevó a inventar a un amigo falso, para poder cubrir su historia, pero a pesar de que esto es grave, ellos sostienen su historia hasta el futuro, utilizando a "Ricky Stanicky" en cualquier momento para que puedan excusarse para todo, haciendo que todo en sus vidas escale a una verdadera falsa. Although this actor leads a life of excess and has a bad reputation, this didn't stop the guys from hiring him, which gives him hope, and he tries his best to get into character. He takes his role so seriously that he even gives up his vices, since they idealize Stanicky as someone perfect. Although John Cena is often considered a "repetitive" actor, here he plays two different people and, in fact, does it very well, standing out in the film with a comedic style that only he can deliver.
Si bien, este actor lleva una vida de excesos y mala fama, esto no detuvo a los chicos de contratarlo, lo que le lleva esperanza y trata de dar todo para meterse en su papel. Se toma su papel tan en serio que hasta deja los vicios, ya que a Stanicky lo idealizan como alguien perfecto. Aunque John Cena lo creen un actor "repetitivo" aquí interpreta dos personas distintas y, de hecho, lo hace muy bien, siendo el destacado en la película con una comedia que solo este sabe mostrar.
I can't deny that William H. Macy's performance as Summerhayes was one of my favorites. I remember him from Shameless, where he starred alongside his family. Here, he's the boss of one of the guys, and many try to impress him, but he maintains a seriousness that seems to prevent him from opening up to others. Without a doubt, the most epic scene in this film features this actor, because despite being very serious, his humor shines through in his gestures, creating the most memorable moment.
No puedo negar que la participación de "William H. Macy" como Summerhayes fue de mis favoritos. Este lo recuerdo desde Shameless, pues es el protagonista de dicha serie junto a su familia. Aquí es el jefe de uno de los muchachos y muchos buscan impresionarlo, pero este muestra una seriedad que parece no dejarlo abrirse a los demás. Sin más, la escena más épica de esta película está de la mano de este actor, pues a pesar de ser muy serio, su humor está en sus gestos, dando el momento más memorable.
While the acting was decent, given the lighthearted nature of the story, one can't really expect too much, even though the casting was well-chosen, no one stood out. Peter Farrelly deserves credit here as the mastermind behind the film, because beyond the acting and special effects, the direction and writing were excellent. Its irreverent comedy makes it one of the best comedies I saw that year; it had been a while since I'd seen anything like it.
Si bien, hay que admitir que las actuaciones fueron buenas, pues al ser una historia ligera, no podemos esperar mucho realmente, a pesar de que el casting de esta fue bien elegido, como para no destacar a ninguno. Peter Farrelly se debe mencionar aquí como la gran mente, ya que, más allá de actuaciones o efectos especiales, hubo una excelente dirección y escritura para esta, con su comedia irreverente que la vuelve una de las mejores películas de comedia que vi en ese año, pues tenía rato que no veía algo similar.
