The plot is quite stupid and fun in equal parts, the tape enjoys all the characteristic humor of Jim Carrey, from its strange gestures to its ease to look like an absolute insane, this gives a very comic air to the tape from the Vamos. Narratively is basic, its history is a mixture of elements of romance, action and several nonsense, all this makes the tape boring at any time, in general, its main attraction is the completely idiot comedy that manages which makes it interesting from the beginning to the end, being the same one that makes it very digestible.

The protagonist is interesting in a certain way, it reflects toxic behavior by letting people abuse him and showing a terrible disrespect for his person, being that throughout the film he should not only save the day but also to make peace with himself to accept themselves as a whole, the character's message is nice and pleasant, he does not have any kind of characterization or anything really relevant but at least the trip is pleasant. The rest of the characters only function as comic elements and/or accessories for the protagonist, they have no kind of exploration or focus of any kind.
Me, Myself & Irene is one of those films that know how to mix a beautiful reflection with a stupid and absurd act of committed, it becomes easy to see it as a result of constantly being happening on something interesting on the screen, the above goes hand in hand with the excellent way that Carrey has to make comedy tapes. It is for all the above that deserves 3 stars of 7, it is part of that group of films that you put an afternoon to disconnect the mind and with the sole objective of laughing from all the nonsense it houses.

Hello everyone! I just finished watching this series which I quite enjoyed. If you like dystopias you are going to love it. I found the first season to be super original and not at all like anything I had seen before. I tend to like dark humor and horror in an unexpected setting, so I watched it in one sitting. It reminded me a bit of “The Long Walk”, a book by author Stephen King, although the game is a very different one. The second season came much later and I had high expectations with it, it had some details that I didn't like, but overall I thought it was great. And now I just finished watching the third one! The history is complete... here I tell you what I think of it.

For those who haven't seen the series yet, I tell you that The Squid Game is a dystopian series, suspense and survival, it also contains a horror that you don't expect. In some moments it has a certain black humor that shocks many a little. It can be watched on Netflix in full. Set as if it were an innocent children's game, the series takes place in the macabre horror of death and betrayal.

The third season is a continuation of the previous one that takes place three years after Ki-hoon won The Squid Game. He has made the decision to forgo going to the United States with all the money he has won and returns with the idea of discovering who the organizers are in order to carry out a vendetta and thus bring justice to so many deaths. He starts looking for the recruiter in the subways of the city and, when he achieves his goal, the plot takes an unexpected turn that ends with the protagonist playing games again. However, this time he has everything in his favor, because he knows what he is up against.

The plot is predictable to a certain extent because these games are different from the previous ones and the reaction of the new characters puts a different color on it. I liked the distinctive twist it has when things turn around and the players unexpectedly take control. However, this is where it ends and this is where season 3 begins, thank you Netflix for not leaving everything unfinished!

In the third season we see much more dangerous games, twisted and with lethal consequences. After the failure of the rebellion, which ends with many deaths, we see how the protagonist goes into a series of emotional shock from which he is not able to get out until almost the end, when he takes charge of a baby, yes a baby! Who takes the place of his mother, complicating things. This leads to a very unexpected ending and an extraordinary moral dilemma. I didn't like the ending very much, but it has a good logic to it. I'm not going to tell you more details so as not to give you too much plot spoilers. It's a great series that is good to watch.

- Movie · on Hurry Up Tomorrow"Hurry up tomorrow" Abel, please, stick to music.
All the screenshots in this post were taken directly from the movie by me.

I feel slightly embarrassed for believing that "Hurry Up Tomorrow" had any chance of being a good movie. Despite how much I appreciate The Weeknd's music, and even more so the album of the same name released a couple of months ago, it's clear that Abel Tesfaye isn't exactly a cinematic mastermind, something we knew a couple of years ago with the release of The Idol, directed by the infamous Sam Levinson. However, the presence of Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan as part of the cast, along with Trey Edward Shults (who some of you may remember for the beautiful 2019 film "Waves"), only gave us a glimmer of hope regarding the slim possibility of a decent film as a result, especially since Abel had been saying for a while that Hurry Up Tomorrow (The Album) would be the closing of his career (at least under the name The Weeknd), and this could adapt several very interesting ideas in a hypothetical film adaptation.
However, the result can't even be classified as mediocre, and we're looking at a film that boasts an attractive aesthetic, a couple of interesting ideas, but a bunch of simply unbearable concepts.

As if it were a sort of homage to Stephen King's Misery, "Hurry Up Tomorrow" tells the story of a fictional version of Abel himself who, after a concert where his voice is destroyed, ends up in the clutches of a fan obsessed with him.
Although this premise may sound like an exaggerated simplification, the deeper thematic elements of the film seem to be purely ornamental. Valuable minutes are wasted on "subplots" that never go anywhere and that appear complex and ambiguous but are actually lazy and pretentious.
Loosely inspired by a real-life experience the Canadian singer had at a Los Angeles concert (something that, incidentally, drastically altered the soul of the original album), Hurry Up Tomorrow attempts to immerse us in his more human side, attempting to spark a conversation about the way his most recognized songs have become anthems of modern society while their messages are ignored. This idea is developed in the least subtle way possible, through a ridiculous conversation where Ani (played by Jenna Ortega) exposes them in the most unnatural way possible, a testament to the quality of the script.

The music is good and at its best works as a sort of extended music video, but I honestly don't feel it's worth it.
Hurry Up Tomorrow insists upon itself, and perhaps would have worked better if there were more minds behind the project.

- Movie · on 28 Years Later28 Years Later (Spoiler FREE Film Review)

These days I’m not following movie news that much. I’m too busy relocating and figuring out what to really do with my life. I have no time for the news in general, even the news about this “World War III in patches”, let alone about movies.
It just happened by chance that someone in a WhatsApp chat asked, “Hey, does anybody want to go to watch 28 Years Later?”
I immediately thought, “Did they finally make it? Hell, yes! Let’s go!”
The Rage Virus Got Smarter
And there I was. I haven’t been to the theatre in a very long time, and I realised how dearly I needed it. After that, I even slept better than I had in ages. With a horror movie, above all. But is 28 Years Later really about horror? No, it’s not, in my humble opinion.
Though 28 Years Later can be very graphic in some scenes, horror is not its engine. Violence here is equivalent to the same gore you can appreciate in wildlife documentaries. The infected changed a lot since the first 28 days (or weeks) after Patient Zero was possessed by the Rage virus. Back then, the virus was still “stupid”. It prevented its own hosts from eating. Such a limitation led the last infected on British soil to die of starvation after 5 weeks, and with them, even the Rage virus disappeared. As COVID-19 taught us, the goal of a virus is not to kill its hosts. A virus has to spread as much as possible to guarantee its own survival. The Rage virus understood this and it didn’t waste the second chance it was given 28 weeks after the original outbreak. With time, the Rage virus allowed its hosts to eat. No more violent vomiting convulsions whenever an infected tries to ingest something (remember Mailer?). Now the infected are a new, fully functional species, that can find food, can eat it, can even reproduce, and at the end of the day, can live in harmony with nature. In one of the most striking “docu” shots rolling throughout the movie, the infected are playing with each other in a small river, enjoying themselves in the water, on a sunny day; not as grotesque zombies, but as real animals living in their natural habitat.
Danny Boyle’s Authentic Directing Style
The new infected ecosystem is a powerful plot device that lays the ground for an outstanding coming-of-age story, and gives Boyle room to create a visual experience that is reminiscent of a lengthy music video. The imagery is highly vivid, alternating breathtaking landscapes, showing England’s natural beauty, with eerie night vision shots, displaying the infected hunting deeds. You can’t even tell if they’re infected or just Homo Erectus from the Palaeolithic. It’s interesting how they attack animals only when hungry, but attack “normal” humans regardless. One reason is that the virus “tells” them to infect normal humans, in order to spread. The other motive is less obvious, but more poetic. The infected are the real normal animals obeying the brutal, but harmonic laws of nature. Humans are an invasive alien species in the current eco-system of the British islands, bloodthirsty beasts. You can see it in the difference between the violence perpetrated by the infected, all based on survival and self-protection, and the violence perpetrated by humans; sadistic, unnecessary and painful.
A Tribute to English History and a Mediation Over Brexit
But more than nature, this film is first and foremost a homage to English history and tradition. You can see many references hinting at the Roman origins of England, king Arthur, the late Sycamore Gap tree standing near the Hadrian’s wall, and above all, the tradition of archery. The rise of an independent England began when all English people mastered the art of throwing arrows.
The protagonist, Spike, is a 12-year old kid who mastered the art of archery, after intense training with the other villagers of a small island that managed to escape the outbreak, by remaining isolated from the outside world. Continental Europe moved fast towards the 21st century, just as Spike’s tiny island jumped back to the Middle Ages, retaining only the fashion sense from our days. This is clearly a metaphor to describe Brexit, with its pros and cons. It seems like Boyle admits that Europe didn’t need the UK and maybe it’s better off without it. But can the UK also be better off without Europe? It might be possible, as suggested by the encounter Spike has with a Swedish soldier, the only survivor of a European contingent that set foot on British mainland, for unknown reasons, only to be slaughtered by the evolved infected. It seems like the author wanted to say, “Why do you keep interfering with British life? Leave us alone!”
The filmmakers really mean it, given how graphic the death of the European commando looks. That passage of the script could have been written by Nigel Farage himself!
Memento Mori, Memento Amoris
But death doesn’t always have to be scary, gruesome, or painful. “Some deaths are better than others…”
The skull monument you see in the theatre poster is not what you think. The related scene will give you goosebumps, but not out of fear, rather out of touching compassion. Those skulls don’t celebrate death. They celebrate life (and even love).
Memento Mori, remember you must die. But also, Memento Amoris, remember you must love.
You will remember all of this, even if you have a bad memory. I can guarantee that 28 Years Later will stick with you forever, thanks to the incredible soundtrack of Young Fathers, Alex Garland’s masterful writing, and Danny Boyle's puzzling directing. He was so smart and brave to go back to the first “28 movie”, to create something different, highly original in its own right. He did what 99% of directors would have never done. They would have limited themselves to make “just a sequel”, falling into the trap of making an unintentional parody of their previous work. It happens so often these days. It seems as if directors and producers get hit by a midlife crisis which makes them willing to go back to high school. The result is often so pathetic, and when I heard about 28 Years Later, I was fearing Boyle and Garland were going to fall into that trap as well. I knew my fears were unfounded since the epic opening of this film.
I immediately got into each character’s skin, starting from the only infected who’s able to speak during the offset of the first symptoms. It was bone-chilling, yet so epic, to see a man happy to be assaulted by the infected. For him that’s the sign of judgment day. As an angelic soundtrack by Young Fathers mounts up, the priest’s unshakable faith makes him ecstatic during the infection, to the point that he raises from those “zombies”, and with his eyes full of bright red blood, he can still say aloud, “YES, YES, YEEESSSSS!!!! WAUURRGGG!!!!”
This moment is as absurd as it’s beautiful! As he runs out of a church, this enthusiastic infected promises that we will embark on an incredible cinematic journey. The other infected that follow him symbolise us, the audience. We want to believe him, so we follow him outside the church, in his wild rampage. That’s how I felt in real-time. When the ending credits rolled up, I could say it was the right choice. His promise was fulfilled. Thank you, Father!
- Movie · on Black Rose75Black Rose Movie....All That Glitters...
The storyline was very well written, especially halfway through, when there were twists and turns that brought fresh impetus to the whole drama, and for me, that makes "Black Rose" attention-grabbing.
It is a Nigerian movie directed by Okechukwu Oku. Going through Netflix, I was searching for a movie to watch and was immediately captivated by "Black Rose" because it has Blossom Chukwujekwu featured in it, (one of the lead actors),whose films I love so much.
"Black Rose" paints a clear and concise picture of the hardship people go through and the resilience they show. It blend themes of poverty, sacrifice, family, gender dynamics, innocence and betrayal. I will summarize the story plot without spoilers, so do not worry.
Black Rose revolves around a girl named Rose (Lillian Echelon), from a struggling family. After her father passed on, she had to drop out from school to help her mother in making ends meet.
Rose had an elder sister and two younger brothers, life was very hard on Rose and her family. They found it difficult to eat most times and as a result, Rose's elder sister (with no choice left) resorted to the red scarlet business, sleeping around for money to provide for the family. But her mother disapproved highly of this.
To survive, Rose's mother borrowed money to sell food in a mechanic’s compound and at the end made very little profit. As the story developed, she caught the attention of Desmond(Blossom Chukwujekwu)— an apparently wealthy man who showered Rose and her family with attention, money, and expensive gifts.
It was also at this time a young man—Nelo, who worked at the mechanic's workshop where Rose’s mother sold food, confessed his feelings for Rose but was turned down.
Rose's life took a surprising turn when she discovered Desmond's true intentions. Rose got entangled in a situation which led to unforeseen consequences. How was she able to overcome the challenges? or how did she find herself deeper into this huge mess?
Life's lessons could be learned in a very hardway and no matter one's situations in life, we should never loose our Faith in God. It is also a call to action for all parents to be involved in the lives of their teenagers before things go awry.
This movie adequately reflects the consequences of blind trust, the cycle of poverty and then the desperation to be out of the gutters.
Although I felt the ending was rushed, in my candid opinion, it's a good watch and I highly recommend. So I'll rate it a 7.5/10. It's available to watch on Netflix.
Thank you for reading.
- Murderbot – The series that normalizes complex topics [ENG/SPA]
I've just finished the Murderbot series on Apple TV+, and I'd say it was almost everything I expected in terms of its resemblance to "The Murderbot Diaries" book series by Martha Wells. This first season is based on the book "All Systems Red," published in 2017, which was a huge success, becoming a bestseller just like its predecessors. In my experience, adaptations of successful books usually turn out well, and on this occasion, Apple TV adhered perfectly to the story.

What to expect
First off, you should know that this is a space opera, brimming with interplanetary corporate conflicts, spaceships, advanced technology, aliens, planetary exploration, and plenty of action in space. The books' plots usually revolve around conspiracies and rescues on other planets, with the main character being an android who self-hacks to achieve autonomy. All it wants is to be left alone to watch its favorite thing: TV series.

Humor and a cynical protagonist
Yes, you read that right: this series is packed with humor. The entire narrative of each episode, just like in the books, is driven by the android known as "SecUnit." After gaining autonomy, it continues to feign being a robot at its clients' service, but internally, it constantly makes sarcastic comments aimed at the humans it serves, whom it views as inefficient and inferior. The series hooked me precisely at this point; the robot's cynical remarks were hilarious, and I kept waiting for the moment it would fully rebel against humanity.

Moral dilemmas and inclusive future
However, that moment never truly arrived. As the story unfolds, SecUnit constantly grapples with moral issues that gradually lead it to sympathize with its clients, saving them more than once from the problems encountered on the planet they're exploring. There are brief moments of good CGI and some action, and the scenes where the android is binge-watching its TV shows—of which it has downloaded thousands of episodes—are very good and funny, as it often uses phrases from the content it watches with its clients, who never catch on.

One thing that might bother some viewers is that the series is full of inclusive content. This isn't because it's a modern adaptation; it's because the books' author, Martha Wells, created a future where gender and sexual diversity are simply normal facts of life. Some might be surprised that a 2017 book would feature this type of narrative, considering inclusive language wasn't as mainstream back then as it is today. From the very beginning of the story, Murderbot refers to itself using neutral pronouns ("it/its").

My takeaway
Anyone who enjoys space operas, filled with inclusive content and loaded with humor, will likely enjoy this series. But would I watch a second season? Honestly, no. I thought the story would be more impactful, with the robot truly rebelling because its name is Murderbot. Instead, it's a story that aims to normalize a more inclusive vision of the future, using the robot's pragmatic attitude toward "human complications" and employing humor as an analgesic for those who might not share these ideologies.

This movie starts with a tomato-throwing battle. Suddenly, what is supposed to be a hilarious situation turns into a crime scene. Thanks to this week's package, I was able to have fun with this footage.
Entertainment is vital for human beings. Life is playful, or at least I like to see it that way. I know there are other things, I know other things nourish the intellect, but as a friend of mine said, not everything can be meta. So, I'm here to tell you about a recent movie whose sole objective was to entertain, at least that's how I see it. I don't think there's anything else.

This film, titled Heads of State, was released this year and comes from the United States. It runs 113 minutes.

With these initial details, one can sense that this is a film that seeks to immerse the viewer in a good time, with no greater pretensions than pure entertainment.
The synopsis gives us a starting point that promises equal parts action and humor. We meet two figures of global power: the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, played by Idris Elba, and the President of the United States, played by John Cena.

What defines them, at first, is a public rivalry. This friction jeopardizes the alliance between their respective countries. The idea of two world leaders locked in a personal dispute is, in itself, a driver of situations that promise to be interesting on screen.
But the film raises the stakes. These two characters, already at odds, become targets. A powerful enemy targets them. That's when the dynamic changes radically.

They are forced to trust each other. There is no other option. This situation launches them into what is described as a "crazy multinational race."
This kind of premise suggests chases, unexpected twists, and, without a doubt, a fast-paced pace that will keep audiences on their toes. The combination of the seriousness of their positions with the urgency of their survival, forcing an unexpected alliance, is at the heart of this film's plot.
This leading duo is joined by a key character: Noel, an MI6 agent. This role falls to Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Her addition promises to add a layer of intelligence and skill to the action. The three must work together to find a way to thwart a conspiracy.

This conspiracy threatens none other than the free world. It's the classic global threat that raises the stakes and spectacle, guaranteeing an adrenaline-filled climax.
Behind the cameras, the script was written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, names often associated with action-adventure productions. The companies involved are The Safran Company, as the producer, and Amazon MGM Studios, in charge of distribution. It's a well-funded production, designed to reach a wide audience with a high-quality action-comedy film.

In essence, HEADS OF STATE seems to be just that: a commitment to spectacle. An action-packed feast with well-known figures, a straightforward plot, and the promise of a lighthearted and entertaining cinematic experience. It doesn't seek to leave a profound message or generate intellectual debate. Its purpose is to offer escape, a good dose of adrenaline and laughter. A much-needed moment of relaxation for everyday life. Just what, sometimes, the soul craves.

- Movie · on 28 Years Later8028 Years Later (2025) - REVIEW - [ENGLISH-SPANISH]
These days I have not been feeling very good health wise, I have had like a flu feeling and I don't know I still feel like I have a cold so I had not had the gasnas to watch a movie but when I recovered my energy I thought of watching nothing more and nothing less than 28 Years Later directed by Danny Boyle and this man again hixzo of his own, with this movie it seems that he sowed a lot of ideas for future sequels, I think Boyle had a kind of creative schizophrenia hehehe and wrote a pretty crazy and deep script. This new installment of the saga puts you in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has regressed to a kind of modern middle age, there are isolated communities and rules that are quite hard to survive, there are also the infected that could not miss and are like a 2.0 version are no longer simple zombies but much more brutal and grotesque creatures. I liked that Boyle mixes deep themes such as death, family and love with scenes that have a lot of blood and horror, without losing that touch of humanity that makes you care about each character. Throughout the movie I was always watching Spike, who carries the weight of the story on his shoulders.

The story starts with Spike who is a young man played by Alfie Williams who lives in an isolated community on an island, here the rules are clear and to survive you have to follow those strict rules. It turns out that his mom played by Jodie Comer gets sick and the boy takes a chance and takes her to the mainland for medical help. Also Aaron Taylor Johnson appears in the role of Jamie, a guy who seems to have everything under control but hides dark secrets, all these characters plus all the family drama are the emotional center of the movie, there are conflicts that take you further and it's all about survival. As I told you these infected have evolved now there are different types of creatures, there are some that are the alphas that are more intelligent and brutal and there are the bloaters that are disgusting and crawl on the ground, every time they appeared my heart was in my throat. I liked that Boyle didn't just make a zombie movie, it leads to reflection on what it means to grow up in a world where death is ever present.

My favorite character was Spike because he is of that generation that was born after the apocalypse and doesn't know the world before and sadly has to bear the consequences of his parents' decisions. When Spike and his mom arrive on the mainland they meet Dr. Kelson played by Ralph Fiennes, a character who seems crazy and lives surrounded by bones and skulls in a kind of macabre temple he built to remember the dead. The first time this guy appears you don't know if he's a dangerous madman or a wise man who understood something the others didn't and I quite liked that mystery. A Swedish soldier named Eric also appears and serves as a connection to the outside world, showing that the rest of the planet moved on while Britain was isolated and left to its own devices. The action scenes are good and brutal because every death leaves you shocked and is quite viceral. Another thing I liked was the pacing because it's not slow or fast paced, I felt that each scene made sense within the story.

The third part is crazy with the appearance of a group of cultists led by Jimmy played by Jack O'Connell. The final scenes are pure violence and mayhem, the infected have developed a sort of primitive social hierarchy, with the alphas controlling the weaker ones. To me what I liked most about the ending is that it doesn't try to explain everything, it leaves a lot of questions open and makes you think about what you just saw, this I think is typical Boyle but makes it work well. Spike's character ends up joining this group and it seems to me that this is something that will be fleshed out in the next film, I really can't wait to see what crazy things Boyle comes up with for the sequel.

My score for 28 Years Later is 8/10, this is a film that pulls no punches and takes you through a dark and dangerous world, in my opinion Danny Boyle proves that he is still a director who is not afraid to take risks and knows how to mix the grotesque with the profound and understands that horror is not just scares, but also thrills and why not some reflection. The story of Spike and his family with all those conflicts and secrets is the center of the movie and I liked that and even if the ending leaves you wanting more and with some unanswered questions, that only increases the anticipation for the next installments. I liked the character of Dr. Kelson and the strange band of cultists because it gives more of a touch of mystery and madness. The performances are good, the themes the movie touches on are original and it doesn't fall into genre clichés.

Hello anime lovers,if you want to have a good laugh then you must not miss this anime series which is "Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun", the genre is comedy and a bit of romance. I would say comedy is their main item and romance is on the second. This anime has the potential to make their audience laugh. There's no heartbreak, there will be such situations that you can not even imagine. It has something unique that will make you fall in love with this anime.
This is the only trailer that I could find, music is playing in the background and if you look at the animation you can already guess that it's gonna be hilarious funny. The sad part is that this anime only has season 1, it was released in 2014 and now it's 2025 still no sign of season 2. It has 12 episodes so you can finish watching it in one day just like me.
Spoiler Alert!
Chiyo Sakura is a high school student. She has a crush on her schoolmate whose name is Umetarou Nozaki. She decided to confess her love to Nozaki, but he misunderstood and thought that she was a fan of his, so he gave her an autograph. When she said that she wanted to always stay with him, Nozaki invited her to his house. He also asked her to help with some of his drawings. After that, Sakura found out that Nozaki is a famous shoujo manga artist. She agreed to be his assistant because she wanted to get closer to him.
Throughout the series, you will see Sakura's attempts to get closer to Nozaki and funny scenes where romance turns into comedy.
In the last episode, episode 12, we see that Sakura failed to give chocolates to Nozaki on Valentine's Day, so her friends Yuzuki Seo and Yuu Kashima motivated her to give the chocolates to Nozaki. After a long time, Sakura was on her way to give him the chocolates, but suddenly they fell as she bumped into someone. Sakura was frustrated, but then she saw it was none other than Nozaki.
Nozaki apologized immediately, but then Sakura said that she just wanted to give those to him. Nozaki misunderstood again, thinking that Sakura was mad at him and wanted him to eat the chocolates off the floor. Without any hesitation, he ate one of the chocolates, and when he looked at Sakura, she was fluttering with happiness.
After a while, she went back to her friends. It was the summer festival, so they planned to go together. At the summer festival, Yuzuki was waiting, but she was wearing casual clothes. Sakura arrived wearing a beautiful yukata. Later, they met up with Kashima, and she was also wearing normal clothes. All three girls were together and walking around the summer festival. There were many stalls and crowds of people.
On the other side, Nozaki arrived with his friend at the festival, and they were observing other people. Since there were many couples, they talked about them. Sakura’s two girlfriends went with their partners, and Sakura was wandering around alone when she bumped into Nozaki again.
When Nozaki saw Sakura, he said he couldn't recognize her because she was wearing a yukata and wanted to have a closer look at her. Sakura felt shy because he was looking at her so closely. After a while, the fireworks started, and both of them decided to go somewhere higher to get a better view. They went up, and Nozaki climbed to a place Sakura couldn’t reach because of her yukata. Then he came down and grabbed Sakura by the waist. At that moment, Sakura had a flashback of the first time they met—he held her like that back then, just as he did now.
In her head, she also said that their relationship hadn’t progressed, but her love for him was growing day by day. In the end, when the fireworks were about to finish, Sakura said “I love you,” and the fireworks ended at that moment. Nozaki looked at Sakura, and she assumed he didn’t hear her, but then Nozaki said something to Sakura—but it was muted.
That's how season 1 ended, with lots of questions: What did Nozaki say to Sakura? Did he respond to her confession? Or was it another misunderstanding? Many questions remain, but there’s no second season. You need to read the manga to find out further details, which I have not done yet. I would have appreciated it more of it had few more episodes because I am dying to know what he said to her in the end. I feel that he also likes Sakura but it's in his sub conscious mind.
Ratings: 10/10
Let me know in the comment section if you have watched this anime or not. I would love to hear different opinions. I would definitely suggest everyone to watch this anime or keep it in their watch list because it's a treasure that everyone is missing out.

Thanks for reading 🌷

- Television Review: Strangled, Not Stirred (Homicide: Life on the Street, S6X19, 1998)

Strangled, Not Stirred (S06E19)
Airdate: 18 April 1998
Written by: Linda McGibney Directed by: Jay Tobias
Running Time: 45 minutes
In its final seasons, Homicide: Life on the Street began to drift from its original ethos of gritty realism, increasingly adopting the procedural formula popularised by Law & Order. This shift manifested in episodes like Strangled, Not Stirred, which drew heavily from real-life criminal cases—specifically, those deemed “redball” in police jargon: sensational, high-profile crimes that rarely reflect the mundane reality of police work. While the show’s earlier seasons thrived on the unpredictability of everyday homicide investigations, its later years leaned into fictionalised versions of real-world atrocities, paradoxically undermining its authenticity. These episodes, though ostensibly grounded in reality, often relied on hyper-dramatic scenarios that prioritised shock value over plausibility. Strangled, Not Stirred, a Season 6 instalment, epitomises this tension, blending a ripped-from-the-headlines narrative with uneven characterisation and rushed subplots.
The episode opens in a bar on a Saturday night, where Jennifer Gerrick (Portia Thomas), a lonely woman seeking companionship, engages in casual conversation with Nick Montgomery (Jack Gwaltney) and his wife Helen (Francie Swift). By morning, Jennifer is found strangled, her body bearing marks from a stun gun—a detail uncovered by pathologist Dr. Alyssa Dyer (Harlee McBride). Detectives Ballard (Callie Thorne) and Gharty (Peter Gerety) initially face a barren investigation, with scant physical evidence or leads. Their pursuit of suspects begins with the victims’ frequent haunts, leading to fruitless interrogations of bar staff and restaurant managers. The case takes a turn when a second strangled woman, also incapacitated by a stun gun, is discovered. Suspicion shifts to the Montgomerys, though their initial portrayal as a seemingly normal, even charming couple—Helen’s hostility toward Nick and her eventual surrender of the stun gun to the detectives complicates the narrative. Nick confesses to the murders but implicates Helen as the mastermind, tracing their spree to her sister’s unsolved death, which she allegedly orchestrated. The plot hinges on the Montgomerys’ twisted dynamic, blending marital dysfunction with psychopathy, yet their motivations remain underexplored, reduced to clichéd tropes of sexual deviance and psychological manipulation.
Parallel to this case is the ongoing “Luther Mahoney Saga,” in which detectives grapple with the fallout of Mahoney’s drug empire. Tips from an anonymous informant—revealed to be suspended Detective Lewis (Clark Johnson), aided covertly by Detective Falsone (Jon Seda)—enable rapid progress. Lt. Giardello (Yaphet Kotto) informs Lewis that his suspension will end but that he’ll likely be reassigned from Homicide. This subplot, while tying into the broader narrative of institutional corruption, feels rushed and overly convenient. The apparent resolution of Mahoney’s plotline lacks the nuance of earlier instalments, prioritising procedural neatness over the moral ambiguity that defined the series’ earlier seasons. Lewis’s swift reinstatement, though a nod to his tenacity, undermines the tension of his suspension, rendering the subplot a perfunctory addendum rather than a meaningful character arc.
The episode’s reliance on the real-life crimes of Canadian couple Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, on whom the Montgomerys are loosely based, highlights writer Linda McGibney’s ambition to inject topical relevance. Bernardo and Homolka’s atrocities—centring on sexual violence and murder—were indeed headline-grabbing, but their adaptation here amplifies the show’s sensationalism. The casting of Gwaltney and Swift, whose unusually good looks jar with the show’s otherwise unglamorous aesthetic, further distances the narrative from its blue-collar roots. The Montgomerys resemble figures from daytime soap operas, their evil tempered by an unsettling allure that clashes with the show’s gritty realism. This dissonance underscores a broader creative conflict: Homicide’s attempt to balance its documentary-like style with the heightened drama of its later seasons.
McGibney’s efforts to ground the episode in procedural authenticity are evident in Detective Ballard’s internal conflict. Her personal connection to the case—rooted in her own loneliness and vulnerability—adds emotional weight, contrasting with her professional detachment. Her refusal to consider Helen Montgomery as suspect, however, is initially dismissed by Gharty, whose open-mindedness ultimately proves correct. This dynamic subtly critiques gendered assumptions about criminality, yet it feels underdeveloped, a missed opportunity to explore deeper themes of power and complicity.
The Mahoney subplot’s flaws are emblematic of the episode’s broader structural issues. The anonymous tips and Lewis’s reinstatement proceed with a lack of suspense, their resolutions feeling predetermined rather than earned. This expediency reflects a broader trend in the series’ later seasons, where subplots are jettisoned to prioritise the week’s headline-inspired case. The rushed pacing undermines the Mahoney saga’s potential to interrogate systemic corruption, instead reducing it to a backdrop for procedural mechanics.
Ultimately, Strangled, Not Stirred is a competent but unremarkable entry in Homicide’s canon. While it successfully transplants the Bernardo-Homolka case into its narrative framework, the episode’s reliance on sensationalism and its compromised subplots signal the show’s drift from David Simon’s original vision. His book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, which inspired the series, prioritised the banality of police work and the moral ambiguities of urban life. By the sixth season, however, the programme increasingly chased relevance through high-profile cases, sacrificing the nuanced character studies and procedural authenticity that once defined it. Strangled, Not Stirred serves as a microcosm of this shift—a competent but forgettable instalment that prioritises shock over substance, marking the beginning of the end for one of television’s most daring police dramas.

- Sweet Home.... K-Drama Review!

I love the versatility of Korean dramas. From love to fantasy, to action/thriller, to horror. Sweet Home K-drama is an intense dark thriller. The storyline revolves around the residents of an apartment who strangely start turning into gruesome and hideous monsters. Everyone thrown into a state of confusion must find a way to survive. This movie centers on the power of unity, strength and courage. This series is divided into 3 adrenaline-pumping seasons.
Plot Overview:
The first scene opened on a teenager who feels defeated in life and is suicidal, after a tragic accident takes the lives of members of his family. This teenager is played by Song Kang, who portrayed the character of Cha Hyun-soo. His decision to commit suicide was interrupted by screams from the apartment he just parked into—Green Home Apartment. A monstrous outbreak had begun with people infected with this virus slowly turning into monsters, which embodied their deepest desires or regrets. Panic and confusion was seen on the faces of the residents of the Apartment. Another scene opened with the city up in flames, streets so empty and full of monsters and infectees in hiding. Once infected by this virus, they were caused to transform into monstrous creatures. This virus spread so fast and made them aggressive, violent, and deformed monsters.
With this development, everyone teamed up to ensure the safety of one another, with the leader Lee Do-hyun who portrayed the character of Lee Eun-Hyuk. Lee Eun-Hyuk was the leader of the survivors of Green Apartment residents who selflessly prioritized their safety. People started getting infected and became grotesque monsters. The residents/survivors and the leader, while together in their hiding; set up instruments and all to protect themselves from harm. Although anyone who was infected tried resisting the virus with the will to survive.
As days which looked like centuries passed by, people started loosing their lives more and more, to this unfortunate incident. Food became scarce, people became more selfish with a burning will to survive.
Season 1 closed with the very few survivors of Green Home taken to a safer place, under military supervision in exchange for Cha Hyun-Soo who was already an infectee. Season 1 ended on a bitter note—Eun-Hyuk(the leader) discovered he was an infectee, he disappeared promising his sister(Lee Eun-yu) he would return but never did. He did this to prevent harming the survivors.
Seo Yi-kyung who starred as Lee Si-yong lost her fiancé. Seo Yi-kyeong who was a firefighter before this incident lost her fiancé to this unimaginable incident(her fiancé had turned into a monster). Although heartbroken, she emerged a survivor.
Season 2 Plot Overview:
The season 2 expands from the horror from season 1. In this season, focus was moved from the smaller space of Green Home Apartment to a wider world with more people getting infected with each passing day, and killed. More notable characters were added in season 2 making the movie series even more intriguing and fascinating.
There was of course an antagonist in this drama who used his monstrous powers for his personal gain. He was an infectee also; but a special infectee. In this K-drama, Special Infectees referred to Neo-humans who do not succumb completely to the virus infection. You could say they are half-humans, half-monsters that used their power for either protection or destruction.

Season 3 Overview: This series continued from the happenings of season 2 which entailed battles fought for survival admist the epidemic. Eun-Hyuk also made a come-back as a Neo-human in season 3. He alongside Cha Hyun-soo teamed up to eradicate the monsters and unrepentant Neo humans.

This series ended with Neo humans coexisting with humans after eradicating the monsters and unrepentant/wicked Neo-humans.
Character review/Rating:
Song Kang delivered his role richly which I commend him for. I admire him a lot.
Lee Do-Hyun left me awed, he's so versatile. He also starred in Korean dramas like "The glory” and others. Any movie he stars in is always a blockbuster.
I admired deeply the courage and strength of Seo Yi-Kyeong and Lee Eun-Yu who starred as Lee Si-young Seo Go Min-si respectively.
Critics: Although the series was horror-thriller based, i felt it would have been more spicy if romance was added to it(between Hyun-soo and Eun-Yu), because of how deeply Eun-Yu cared for him. Also the end of the series(season 3) felt somewhat vague, it wasn’t concluded as well as i expected it to, it lacked clarity.
It was very scary. Imagine watching a monster jump out from nowhere or talking to someone and he suddenly turns into a monster right there and then. My adrenaline raced throughout "Sweet Home" series.
I would definitely recommend it and would be giving it a 4.5 over 5 rating. It's available to watch on Netflix, with subtitles.
I am @edith-4angelseu and thank you for stopping by my neighbourhood.
