Dear Downvoters,
I'd like to say something about the downvotes and some of the negativity attendant with handing out $50 from someone else's stake for the day.
I appreciate the feedback and I take it on board. I know that @theycallmedan and others who are involved in @threespeak are watching this too.
Here's the thinking behind it as I understand it from a creator point of view. I want my non-Steem audience (of which I have a moderate number) to come here and see comments with $2 or more on them and wonder, why on earth did I spend 15 minutes writing an interesting comment on YouTube or Facebook to make Zuckerberg et al a bit richer. Back when I was on Facebook, before the UK government deemed my pages too dangerous to exist, people did that all the time.
I want to bring them all here: the 1.2 Million we had on Tommy's page (let's say it's really 100k because Facebook stats are all lies). 24 hours before we lost that page (after heavy pressure from the UK government) we put out a video that gained 1 Million views before the page was deleted. It was the most interacted with political personality page in the UK. We had higher interaction rates than Corbyn or Theresa May or even Nigel Farage.
Right now the insanely bad onboarding and the general useability problems mostly around passwords and keys are hampering that. @threespeak (and @steempress) both have interesting systems to allow non-Steemians to leave comments and collect escrowed rewards, that wasn't working the other day when I had my upvotes but its fixed now on @threespeak. This could be a game changer.
Right now these kinds of upvotes are like spending some money on marketing, something that's been WOEFULLY absent from Steem since early 2018 when @jerrybanfield's advertising ceased because of the illegal crypto ad ban.
I know some of you think that @threespeak are spending YOUR rewards on these upvotes and there are some crappy, obviously there for the cash only, comments being rewarded. But they have these votes to give by dint of having a very very large stake in the future of Steem and while I haven't been here that long, @oracle-d and @theycallmedan seem to be hyper dedicated to making this place work.
So that's the context of a few sub-par comments getting $4 rewards. Big deal. The point is to show the outside world that you shouldn't be leaving interesting comments on YouTube or Facebook but putting them here where you can get rewarded.
