Nara Park Japan. Where the deer roam free.

I would like to share some photos from our day at Nara Park in Nara, Japan.

Nara Park is a perfect way to spend the day. Strolling through the trees and checking out all the temples and shrines.

This beautiful park is about a 20min walk from JR Nara station. At the entrance is a big lake, keep an eye out for the turtles that live there.

At the entrance to the park you come across some temples.

As you walk past the temples and enter the park you see straight away hundreds of wild deer grazing on the grass and sleeping under trees.

There are people selling biscuits that you can feed the deer with. Some of the deer will actually approach you and bow for a biscuit.

Haha it's so cool. I found myself just constantly bowing to the deer that approached me.

But be careful as some of the deer get a bit aggressive and try and take all the biscuits from you and will start biting at your clothes, or they might kick you. Or even steal old ladies handbags as the sign indicates.

I wonder how many old ladies hand bags were stolen from these ruthless forest deer gangs before they had to make a sign to warn everyone to pay their biscuit toll or deal with the consequences...

Once the novelty of bowing and feeding the deer wore off it was time to explore the park, covered in deer saliva haha.

We came across the Nara museum but it was a holiday there and the place was packed so we got an ice-cream and chilled next to the pond.

I'm not sure how this deer got on this little island. But he was just chilling there.

We head out to the Todaiji temple which is home to a giant Buddha.

Once again the line was huge so we didn't enter the temple. Just chilled and had a beer out side and hung out with the deer.

From there we took a stroll through the forest heading to Kasuga-taisha.

At the entrance there is a deer Statue fountain.

Along the way there is so many lanterns. Deer hang out in between the lanterns in hope for a biscuit from passers by.

Biscuits or the bag lady your choice..

Kasuga-taisha shinto shrine is just beautiful. The shrine is painted red and it just makes this place look amazing with all the green trees that surround it.

It is a great place to just relax and take it all in.

After exploring this place we made our way back to the main street for some dinner.

We made our way back passing by some more shrines and temples.

Then chilled out at another temple to watch the sunset of Nara and it was breath taking!

So if you ever visit Japan and are staying in Osaka, it is definitely worth the JR train ride out to Nara for a cheap and amazing day out! You won't be disappointed 😊

Absolutely fantastic post. From beginning to end. Beautiful pictures and fun narration.

Japan seems to have the most unbelievable places. The other day I read a post about an owl bar. I am curious how do they manage all the manure with so many deers. Everything looks so clean. How was the smell? Also, do they cut their antlers?

I love traditional asian architecture. All these buildings and all the way they have designed the park and incorporated nature seems taken from a fantasy book/movie. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful experience.

wow so close to deers. My daddy and I are wildlife lovers and I would love to visit this place with him once in my life.This is just too good, I love that shot in whcih deer is posing for you with that innocent looks on its face. I did not know a park like this exists, so nice. thank you for sharing this and congrats on your curie vote .:):):)

Browsing through steemit world or better the curators like @curie used to open the world for you, Among the many posts on this great platform this is one such. There is a thrill in watching some places that we may never get a chance to visit in their life time. So sitting in a far away country and getting a chance to go through the special places that is famous in those places is what one of the great thing I am looking forward to steemit.

This post looks really great with short briefs and some wonderful snaps included. Getting so close to the wild beers are an entirely different way of enjoyment in a zoo since in many of the places these kind of creatures were always inside the cage.

The fist snap of the post showing the entrance of the zoo with background with mountains and the way you captured the temple deserves special mention here. And the last snap at the wee hours of sunset and the good bye from both of you in the way of NAMASKAR makes it quite interesting too.

I love how they are selling beer in such a place. You need one after a deer knocks you down.

Great photos all throughout, and the one with the deer in between the lanterns shows he/she means business. You are in their spot, not the other way around!

I have never heard of this place and it is amazing to see all those deer free and not afraid of humans like they would be anywhere else.

What a great place to spend the day, and thank you for showing it to us :)

I came across a few deers in nature before but they all run away as soon as they spot you. I guess that these got 'trained' because of the treats that they get from the visitors. I can imagine that those handbags were full of treats so those deers just wanted to take what rightfully belonged to them of course :D

The world of deer hahha I would like with all my soul to visit it one day, it looks so fun and pleasant to walk, besides Japan is my second favorite place! I love everything they have, look at that perfect place ♡

fantastic post about this unknown place in Japan !! always nice to see less popular places, even if there were many tourists there too !! but what beautiful deer, I would never have thought of free deer in a park in Japan, and so in harmony with the guests !! What time of year have you been? it's very hot? congratulations for the beautiful photos and for your curie rating
