If you're longing for snow, you might not want to look at these photos, even though there isn't that much snow in these mountains.

Wenn du dich nach Schnee sehnst, dann solltest du dir diese Fotos vielleicht nicht anschauen, obwohl in diesen Bergen gar nicht so viel Schnee liegt.

Zavetišče pod Špičkom means something like shelter cabin or refuge under Špičkom / little spire, and this hut is located at 2,064 m (6,772 ft) above sea level.

Zavetišče pod Špičkom heißt soviel wie Schutzhütte unter Špičkom / Spitzchen und diese Hütte liegt auf 2.064 m Seehöhe.

The cabin is now closed during the winter, but is open from July to September and also offers 25 sleeping places.

Several different paths lead to the cabin, and among others you can start from the Vršič pass or from the parking lot at the inn below the Soča spring (Zadnja Trenta, Koča pri izviru Soče) to the hut. The walking time is given as about 4 hours on both routes.

From the cabin you have the opportunity to climb several mountain peaks, with Jalovec being the most attractive destination at 2,645 meters (8,678 feet).

However, surefootedness is required, as well as you shouldn't be afraid of heights to climb this rather steep mountain. There are some places that are not secured, where you have to climb freely.

Jetzt im Winter ist die Schutzhütte geschlossen, aber von Juli bis September wird sie bewirtschaftet und bietet auch 25 Schlafplätze.

Zur Hütte führen mehrere verschiedene Wege - unter anderem kann man vom Vršič Pass oder auch vom Parkplatz beim Gasthaus unterhalb der Soča Quelle (Zadnja Trenta, Koča pri izviru Soče) zur Hütte aufbrechen. Die Gehzeit wird bei beiden Strecken mit etwa 4 Stunden angegeben.

Von der Hütte aus hat man die Möglichkeit, auf mehrere Berggipfel zu steigen, wobei der Jalovec mit 2.645 Metern Höhe das attraktivste Ziel sein wird.

Jedoch ist für die Besteigung dieses recht steilen Berges Trittsicherheit und Schwindelfreiheit gefordert. Es gibt einige Stellen, welche nicht gesichert sind, wo man frei klettern muss.

I took the first two photos with the 70-200mm lens about a month ago at sunrise a few kilometers after the Vršič pass in direction to Trenta. Apart from a polarizing filter, no filters were used.

The second photo shows an overview of the mountains with the Špiček (2,194 m / 7,198 ft) in the left half of the image, below it you can see the shelter cabin Zavetišče pod Špičkom at 2,064 m (6772 ft). To the left of Špiček is Mali Ozebnik (2,321 m / 7,615 ft) and to the right is Vrh Zelenic (2,278 m / 7,474 ft). The high mountain on the right is the Jalovec with 2,645 m (8,678 ft).

Die ersten beiden Fotos habe ich mit dem 70-200mm Objektiv vor ungefähr einem Monat bei Sonnenaufgang fotografiert, ein paar Kilometer nach dem Vršič Pass Richtung Trenta. Außer einem Polfilter wurden keine Filter verwendet.

Das zweite Foto zeigt eine Übersicht der Berge mit dem Špiček (2.194 m) in er linken Hälfte des Bildes, unter welchem man die Schutzhütte Zavetišče pod Špičkom in 2.064 m Höhe erkennen kann. Links vom Špiček ist der Berg Mali Ozebnik (2.321 m) und rechts davon der Vrh Zelenic (2.278 m). Der hohe Berg ganz rechts ist der Jalovec mit 2.645 m.

The next time I visited this place at sunrise on January 2, 2020, I had the super telephoto zoom 150-600mm from Sigma with me and took the other pictures you see here.

Bei meinem nächsten Besuch an diesem Ort zu Sonnenaufgang am 2. Jänner 2020 hatte ich das Supertelezoom 150-600mm von Sigma dabei und damit sind die restlichen Aufnahmen entstanden.

Then the sky turned to purple

These photos were taken without a filter, the sky and mountain actually had this color before sunrise - first the sky was dark blue and the entire mountain was purple, and then the sky changed its color to purple.

Diese Fotos wurden ohne Filter aufgenommen, Himmel und Berg hatten vor Sonnenaufgang tatsächlich diese Farbe - zuerst war der Himmel dunkelblau und der gesamte Berg lila und dann änderte der Himmel seine Farbe in Lila.

At the place of today's refuge there was a smaller hut until 1983, which was before 1950 a small Italian military outpost and was then converted into a mountain outpost in August 1950.

An Stelle der heutigen Schutzhütte stand bis zum Jahre 1983 eine kleinere Hütte, welche bis 1950 ein kleiner italienischer militärischer Außenposten war und dann im August 1950 in einen Bergaußenposten umgewandelt worden ist.

In 1983 the small hut was replaced by today's refuge, which also has a winter shelter room for 4 people.

The shelter is operated by the Slovenian Alpine Club (SPD).

1983 ist die kleine Hütte durch diese Schutzhütte ersetzt worden, welche auch einen Winterraum für 4 Personen besitzt.

Betrieben wird die Schutzhütte vom Slowenischen Alpenverein (SPD).

Information

The position of the refuge on the map should be reasonably correct, but due to the lack of location names or names of mountain peaks etc. on the map, positions in the terrain are difficult to find and the coordinate input did not work for me on Firefox.

Die Position der Hütte auf der Karte sollte so einigermaßen stimmen, aber wegen fehlernder Ortsbezeichnungen oder Gipfelnamen etc auf der Karte sind Positionen im Gelände schwierig zu finden, und die Koordinateneingabe hat bei mir auf Firefox nicht funktioniert.

Wow sieht das geil aus! Ich stell mir grade vor wie es sein muss, ein Wochenende so ganz abgeschottet von der Außenwelt in dieser Hütte zu verbringen - traumhaft :D
