  1. Luke Cage Season 2 Overall Review@filotasriza32925d

I finally, finished watching season 2 of Luke cage and it was totally beyond my expectations!

    Spoiler Alert

For all those that haven't checked a single episode of the second season don't bother yourselves with this post and instead jump to this one. Once again, beware as i am gonna spoil the shit out of it and share my experience watching it with all of you.

So down in Harlem Luke Cage is very popular after all the events that happened in season 1 and in Defenders and everybody knows him, both the citizens and the criminals. The new enemy in town is called Bushmaster and is a Jamaican fellow that came to take down Mariah and as he says claim his birthright. He has done his investigation and knows who Mariah has under her payroll, who her supporters are and in general knows all the variables that may be in his way.

To make ''a name'' and to become a bigger threat in the eyes of everyone and Mariah's ofc he goes down Harlem and kick Luke Cage's ass. In case you wonder how did he achieve it, he takes a Jamaican natural remedy that works like a steroid and enhances his power, speed and makes him somewhat bulletproof. At the same time Mariah wants to go out of the illegal life and with illegal methods :P she obtains a bunch of million out of a legitimate company. Aside from that she tries to sale her gun business to the highest bidder. She even brings back her daughter to her life in order to be seen with her by the public!

Bushmaster creates his own gang, which rules, kills everyone that support Mariah and go after her only to be stopped by Luke Cage but again kicking his ass. Mariah after that experience that nearly cost her life becomes a cold blooded gangster that kidnaps Bushmaster's uncle, take him back to his restaurant and kill everyone inside. Then she lets him see them dead and burned him alive.

Somewhere around here we learn the true story of Bushmaster because till then it was just his words against everyone. Turns out that the club known as Harlem's Paradise was built by Mariah's and Bushmaster's grandpas. When a sign of threat came Mariah's grandfather chose to sell his partner and killed him only to receive a bullet by him and die a couple of days later. After that it was supposed to be half-half between Mama Mabel and Bushmaster's mother and when she asked her legitimate share, Mama Mabel and Buggy burnt her house with her inside as well as Bushmaster who his mother saved a couple of seconds before she died. Later on Buggy shots Bushmaster when we was just a kid but he was saved by his uncle that carried him to a shaman like woman that introduced him to the nightshade (the steroid).

Long story short and later on we get to see a little bit of fight with Iron First and Luke Cage against gangs as well as Bushmaster and Cage against again gangs. Bushmaster tries to kill Mariah but fails and is damaged critically only to be saved by Mariah daughter that she is so sicked and tired of her mother that literally poisons her and kills her in prison.  The final scenes are Bushmaster leaving the country and going back to Jamaica cause now Mariah is dead and Mariahs lawyer is ready to open her will. Her will states that basically she gives nothing to her daughter and the famous club that called Harlem's paradise is given to Luke Cage and the reason behind it ,is to make him a villain or change him for the worst.

Will Luke Cage change and become a villain?
How will her daughter receive that gesture and what she will do?

Given how it ended they must create a season 3 i think! All in All it was a great season, with a great plot and both great new characters introduction as well as character development. I am very pleased this came out to be a great season because frankly in most of these series or superhero movies the next season turns out to be worst than the first one

  2. Luke Cage Season 2 Episode 1 Review@filotasriza32927d

    Luke Cage is back baby!!

In case you have no idea who Luke Cage is, let me inform you that he is a superhero hero made my Marvel that lives in Harlem a place full of gangs. His main superpower is to be bulletproof so knives, chains and guns can't do shit to him but he also has enhanced strength and speed.

The first season came out at 2016 and had quite good reviews. The show also won 1 Primetime Emmy award among the 5 other ones. Also, i believe the show was successful because the hero is black. We don't have many black superheroes and as natural not many series with them as the main star so this tv show was a big deal.

    Season 2

Now let's talk a bit about Season 2. It came out 2 days ago at June 22 and has 13 episodes about 55 minutes each. In order to watch it you have to obviously watch season 1 first and then the Defenders. The Defenders is something like the Avengers but instead of having Iron-man and Captain America, here we have Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. In order to get some more info and understand better the season 2 you must have watched that as well. I haven't watched all the episodes of season 2 yet only the 6 first but still i won't spoil, i will only mention a couple of things that you can watch from episode 1.

After all the events that took place, Luke Cage is now something like a celebrity in Harlem. Everyone knows him, they take pictures with him, they buy Luke Cage T-shirts and heck there is even an app dedicated to him. His reputation isn't only limited to the everyday people of Harlem but to the everyday criminals too, that they fear him now more than ever. While Luke Cage ''plays'' the hero of Harlem Mariah and Shades want an out of the their criminal life so she is selling her business to the higher bidder.

    season 2 trailer

At the same time Luke's father is appeared and we don't know yet what's his role gonna be in the series but Luke doesn't want him in his life. Misty Knight is there too and we get to see how she is doing given her injury and what changes in her life after all the events.

Finally what seems to be the main villain make his appearance and he seems a real badass. It's a Jamaican called "Bushmaster" that seems do be as strong as Cage if not more. I won't spoil what his aim is or who exactly is he, it's not a big secret though you gonna find it in the first 2-3 episodes. All i can say is (and that is my personal opinion) that he is way cooler than the previous enemy Diamondback who was like a mere thug.

I go to watch over 1-2 or more episodes now and sleep cause it's too late :P. I hope season 2 to be better than 1 and thanks that it's on Netflix and all the episodes are out together!

  3. Luke Cage Marvel Series ( Review#5)@filotasriza33417d

It’s time for Marvel again, I know hmm no no I can feel it that you wanted this too. Today I am gonna write my review about the Luke Cage series.

Luke Cage is a Marvel comic created by white men as a response to the blackploitaion movement of 1970s that became a set of series with the help of Netflix production, creating 1 season with 13 episodes. The story follows Luke Cage a black man that is an ex –cop, ex-con who has undergo serious experiments (if you watch the series you will find out why where and how he undergo these experiments) and now searching for a place to stay undetected.

The place is none other than Harlem a place many black people live as well as gangs, mafia and criminals that rule the entire area. Luke Cage keeps a low profile as he works on a barber shop as a cleaner and on a night club as a bartender.

Luke Cage powers are not the fancy ones you are used to as he is bulletproof, knifes, guns even bazookas cant harm him!

As I said above with his powers the same rule applies for the whole set. Don’t expect fancy enemies and monsters but instead get ready for a very deep dive into the neighborhoods of Harlem, the criminal underworld and the politics behind it.

Soon Luke Cage will be in a huge dilemma

Close his eye against everything happens around him or Do something about it

What makes this show awesome is that they made everything with extreme care and provide us with the dark and underground world of Harlem. They made new enemies in different positions like:

    Cornell ‘’Cottonmouth’’ Stokes

Owner of the nightclub Harlem’s Paradise and a man that grew up in Harlem Cornell runs the whole criminal activities in Harlem while as every criminal, he is looking for more and more power and money. A great thing in that show about Cornell is his backstory in which you gonna realize what made it into the man he is today and even feel sorry for him or believe it was inevitable!

    Mariah Dillard

A powerful woman in the field of Harlem’s politics sharing the cousin bond with Cornell Stokes with whom grew up in the same house. Her goal is to obtain more political power and nominated herself as to represent Harlem within the city council. Mariah is a very strong woman and she became like this from her early age (well you will see how ;))

    Shades

He is one of my favorites in this show. First of all, he is played by Theo Rossi you may remember him from Sons of Anarchy (Juice Ortiz) and this time he is a villain working for Diamondback that has been sent to Harlem and Cornell to watch over and advice the criminal activities. He has a long past with Luke Cage and he was too grew in Harlem. He don’t have powers but he is a very skilled manipulator that from a mere thug manage to achieve great things ( I don’t want to say what you have to see it for yourselves)

    Diamondback

While I don’t want to spoil much think Diamondback as the final and stronger enemy of Luke Cage. He has money and power and a criminal empire behind him and ofc a huge story with Luke.

    My Conclusion

It’s a great show not like the previous one marvel did but still a very quality one. The reason many dislike it I believe its because of the dose of realism it provides. To be bulletproof and fight mostly thugs, gangsters and criminals without superpowers isn’t considered fancy at all. My opinion is that exactly this dose of realism and the continuous character development with the questions ‘’ Am I really a hero?’’ ‘’ Do I deserve being called like that?’’ Luke ask himself is what does this show amazing. The cast is way too good and if you like constant gun shootings, bazookas and more guns in a world that money, politics and criminals rule the city then I suggest to watch it without doubt!  The only thing i didnt like and i have to be honest is Diamonback. I didnt like him at all as the main vilain and most powerful one, it remind me just a common thug.

Here is the Luke Cage trailer if you wanna check it out
