La historia de Slasher, de sus protagonistas y víctimas han tratado de evolucionar con el pasar del tiempo, no hablo de la base de las historias, sino de los personajes, de su forma de ser, de y de comportarse, esto lo digo porque antes se enfocaban en cumplir el cliché de las víctimas y por supuesto mantener al otro personaje importante en estas historias, The Final Girl, está evolución se ha visto de forma lenta, muy lenta y sé por los tiempos que vivimos, cada vez que sea estrenada alguna historia de terror habrá cambios para ser más actual.

The story of Slasher, its protagonists and victims have tried to evolve over time, I'm not talking about the basis of the stories, but the characters, their way of being, of and behave, I say this because before they focused on meeting the cliché of the victims and of course keep the other important character in these stories, The Final Girl, this evolution has been seen slowly, very slowly and I know for the times we live in, every time it is released any horror story there will be changes to be more current.
En "There's Someone Inside Your House" veremos la historia de un grupo de chicos que cursan su último año en la escuela secundaria en un pequeño poblado de Nebraska en dónde la vida es completamente tranquila, pero esa paz o tranquilidad terminará a causa de horribles asesinatos de algunos de sus compañeros de clases, horribles crímenes que vendrá acompañado de revelaciones que cambiará la opinión sobre las víctimas, esto hará que aumente el temor sobre quien será el próximo en morir porque todos tienen secretos.
In "There's Someone Inside Your House" we will see the story of a group of kids who are in their last year of high school in a small town in Nebraska where life is completely quiet, but that peace or tranquility will end because of horrible murders of some of their classmates, horrible crimes that will be accompanied by revelations that will change the opinion about the victims, this will increase the fear of who will be the next to die because they all have secrets.
Si existe un género del terror que me guste de ver, esos son los slasher y es por eso que no pierdo la oportunidad de ver un film (de este tipo) que llamé mi atención, una de estas oportunidades la ofreció Netflix con el estreno de su nueva película original basada en la novela "There's Someone Inside Your House" del 2011, la cual su historia está influenciada en películas como "SCREAM" y "I Know What You Did Last Summer"; este film fue dirigido por Patrick Brice, un director que ha ganado fama por dos film dentro del género del terror como son "Creep" y "Creep 2", en esta oportunidad su trabajo es lo que más me ha gustado del film, Brice sabe cómo crear la atmósfera perfecta para las escenas de suspenso, sabe que planos debe tomar y como dirigir al espectador siendo impredecible en las escenas predecibles de los asesinatos, no existe ninguna escena mala y hasta puedo decir que no hay ninguna toma que sea mala, todas son muy bien hechas y hasta puedo decir perfectas para este estilo de films, aparte de eso, las demás escenas de complemento son excelentes gracias a la fotografía que hay en cada una, sin ninguna duda que la elección de este director fue la mejor.
El guion vino por parte de Henry Gayden; es par mí el gran problema de este film, como dije en el comienzo de esta publicación, las historias de terror, en especial las slasher, buscará de alguna forma de encajar en lo que sucede en la sociedad actual, la necesidad de una conexión creo que es importante para que exista un éxito, sea en cualquier ámbito del entretenimiento, en esta historia se busca eso teniendo un cast que pueda encajar en lo que pide la sociedad, esto para mí es positivo, algo bien hecho y pensado, el problema está en el desarrollo de estos personajes los cuales no fue nada especial y se perdió la oportunidad de hacer algo mejor; no tengo ninguna queja de los motivos de las muertes, porque siempre he creído que no es para nada importante y más en este tipo de films, mi queja está en el poco potencial que pueda tener el antagonista y volverlo anti climático cuando esté debe ser uno de los puntos fuertes en la historia, este es un fallo qué afecta a este film.
If there is a horror genre that I like to see, those are the slasher and that's why I do not miss the opportunity to see a film (of this type) that caught my attention, one of these opportunities was offered by Netflix with the release of its new original film based on the novel "There's Someone Inside Your House" from 2011, which story is influenced by films like "SCREAM" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer"; this film was directed by Patrick Brice, a director who has gained fame for two films within the horror genre such as "Creep" and "Creep 2", this time his work is what I liked most of the film, Brice knows how to create the perfect atmosphere for the suspense scenes, he knows what shots to take and how to direct the viewer being unpredictable in the predictable scenes of the murders, there is no bad scene and I can even say that there is no shot that is bad, all of them are very well done and I can even say perfect for this style of films, apart from that, the other complement scenes are excellent thanks to the photography that is in each one, without any doubt that the choice of this director was the best.
The script came from Henry Gayden; is for me the big problem of this film, as I said at the beginning of this publication, the horror stories, especially the slasher, will seek somehow to fit into what happens in today's society, the need for a connection I think is important for there to be a success, whether in any field of entertainment, in this story is looking for that having a cast that can fit into what society asks, this for me is positive, something well done and thought, the problem is in the development of these characters which was nothing special and missed the opportunity to do something better; I have no complaints about the motives of the deaths, because I have always believed that it is not important at all and more in this kind of films, my complaint is in the little potential that the antagonist may have and make him anti climatic when he should be one of the strong points in the story, this is a flaw that affects this film.
Lo que me gusta de este tipo de historias es el balance que debe existir entre el asesino y su protagonista, esto es esencial porque si falla alguno, entonces la película pierde interés, en esta oportunidad me enfocó en el personaje principal "Makani Young" interpretado por Sydney Park, en esta historia Makani es una chica que ha sido trasladada a la escuela secundaria de este pequeño poblado, es una chica independiente quien vive con su abuela, ella es alguien que busca pasar desapercibida, sin crear problemas, pero en realidad, está solitaria chica lo que hace es crear una nueva identidad para que nadie sepa quién en realidad es o quién ella piensa que es, para mí, esta joven actriz hizo un buen trabajo, tiene la actitud y su desempeño es convincente, me fuera gustado que su personaje estuviera mejor desarrollado, más que nada su historia del pasado para ver una evolución mejor de su personaje y sobre todo lo que debe experimentar, creo que el guion lamentablemente no ayuda a esta actriz ni a ningún otro actor para que puedan hacer un mejor trabajo del que hacen en esta historia.
What I like about this kind of stories is the balance that must exist between the killer and its main character, this is essential because if either one fails, then the movie loses interest, in this opportunity I focused on the main character "Makani Young" played by Sydney Park, in this story Makani is a girl who has been transferred to the high school of this small town, she is an independent girl who lives with her grandmother, she is someone who seeks to go unnoticed, without creating problems, but in reality, this lonely girl what she does is to create a new identity so that no one knows who she really is or who she thinks she is, for me, this young actress did a good job, she has the attitude and her performance is convincing, I would have liked her character to be better developed, more than anything her past history to see a better evolution of her character and especially what she must experience, I think the script unfortunately does not help this actress or any other actor to do a better job than they do in this story.
No diré que no disfrute de esta historia, tiene buenas escenas, buena protagonista a pesar de lo mal desarrollado en el guion, tiene buena dirección y muy bien soundtrack, no es una historia original, pero creo que es muy difícil poder conseguir eso en este género, me gusta que haya tenido la ambición de querer ser actual, pero en realidad fue una excusa para poder captar a un público que tal vez no esté muy interesado en estas películas; lo que más lamento de esta película es que su último acto sea muy simple y a la vez aburrido, eso lo transforma en las típicas películas de Netflix que parecieran que saben cómo cerrar una historia, me molesta porque para ser sincero, le veo un gran potencial, si hacen un buen guion creo que hasta pueden tener una pequeña franquicia, dos secuelas más sin la necesidad de algún sobreviviente siendo el protagonista; queda en ustedes el ver este film, con las pocas expectativas que tenía me mantuve entretenido por un buen tiempo en dónde solo su final no me pareció el mejor, pero las escenas de muertes, el asesino, su protagonista y claro está su director, es lo mejor de este film, espero que si llegan a verla puedan disfrutarla y si no espero su opinión en los comentarios.
I will not say that I did not enjoy this story, it has good scenes, good protagonist despite the poorly developed in the script, has good direction and very good soundtrack, it is not an original story, but I think it is very difficult to achieve that in this genre, I like that it had the ambition to want to make a contemporary story, but in reality it was an excuse to capture an audience that may not be very interested in these films; what I regret most about this film is that its last act is very simple and at the same time boring, that transforms it into the typical Netflix movies that seem to know how to close a story, it bothers me because to be honest, I see great potential, if they make a good script I think they can even have a small franchise, two more sequels without the need for some survivor being the protagonist; it's up to you to see this film, with the few expectations I had I kept me entertained for a long time where only its ending didn't seem the best, but the death scenes, the killer, its main character and of course its director, is the best of this film, I hope if you get to see it you can enjoy it and if not I hope your opinion in the comments.
