Episode 6 of Silo Season 3 shows that no one trust in no one and Im really enjoying this season, except for the past scenes from where everything started because to be honest is not as interesting as living in the Silo, its kinda the same old conspiracy story and the difference is that the Silo is its own silent character within the series, so its mostly each one of them are making their own rule, follow their own needs and face different realities. Inside Silo 18 everything feels urgent, personal and dangerous while the Before Times scenes just keep asking for patience without giving enough back yet, at times feel empty and flat even when a self driving car kidnap you. Juliette is the key for all of this, she has her memory back enough to understand what she needs and what she needs to reach Silo 17. Now she is not quite, she challenge Camille and neither of her can simply received order from the other. Camille is the one with authority but Juliette is the person with enough influence and information that ignoring her can create another problem, just imagine for how long she has been collecting Silo data since the times of the hard drive in Season 1. Now the one that works around the algorithm is Juliette not only Camille, she is aware that every option or path take it can affect Silo 18 and it will be judge and any plan she brings out can still be rejected if he risk is too high, for that reason she needs to be smarter and never give all the information at once, being in constant change with her approaches and work in a way that the algorithm can't really understand completely what she really wants. For Juliette that is a dangerous move, so it is really interesting how now the people in Silo 18 will start make their moves just because trust no longer exist, Juliette needs Silo 17, Camille doesn't trust her neither her husband and the algorithm start thinking in Juliette as a future problem, people is taking their sides and the way he play their cards will marked the difference.

Juliette Plays the Algorithm to Reach Silo 17

At this point the series is taking some speed as things start happening faster in Silo 18 since Juliette has her memory back but she is willing to lose her memories again only for the sake of the children of Silo 17, she request them to be safe and she will make that sacrifice, in that moment Bernard enter in scene and mention that for that mission she will need his two best engineers Shirley and Knox, they basically accept on the spot, Knox spoke with Shirley and told her that she is not coming that he will go but is going someone else to go with him, but if you have seen at least this season from the start you already know she is stubborn and convinced Knox that she is the only one that can complete that mission with him, so he accepted. Well is so understanding why Knox doesn't her to go, she is pregnant so if she go out of the safety place that is Silo 18 well she and the baby will be danger. At the end the ones that are going to rescue the children to Silo 17 is Patrick and Lukas but Juliette now needs to play this smart because she doesn't has the approval from the algorithm yet and still send them, before she goes to talk to it, she has an argument with Camille that is not happy for the decisions that Juliette is making, everything if fuck up between those two women. At the end Juliette talk with algorithm asking for Shirley and Knox to go to Silo 17 but it was denied and she knew that will the result and for that reason she has a back up plan that was Patrick and Lukas and the algorithm accept and after she left, Camille was in shock for the approval but here the episode give us something really important, no matter what the damn algorithm says or wants, nobody is safe and why I mention that, because after Juliette left the algorithm room, it told Camille that Patrick and Lukas are not going to complete that mission, so here I realized that no matter who you are or with who you are aligned no one is safe, the algorithm only wants control and Camille is there to follow every word.

Billings Stops Playing Sheriff

Talking about another line of event that I think it is important, we have Billings. Billings is the sheriff of this place he supposed to have the authority to make changes, create rules, guide the people but he has nothing, it seems that he is only there to fulfil an empty space, a position but that is doing nothing for him. People ignore his authority, the changes he is supposed to be making are not really happening and the cameras he expected to be removed are still recording the Silo, everyone is taking him for a fool but Im sure that at some point he is just going to snap. At least the investigation that he was following finally gives him a reason to stop trusting the systems he is supposed to represent. The episode show step by step how Billings decided that following the law is going to give him nothing, I he mostly realize this when he was talking with Hank, he told him that the Silo instead of having 70 years of light only has 2 more years due to the light bulbs theft, Billings is upset because needs to finds answers and decided that needs to start with the dead of Orla, so he went to visit Mark Chambers, who guide to Knox but he ended demanding Emerson to watch the cameras footage, she lied to him saying that it doesn't work but he knew that she was lying so at the end he couldn't find anything about Orla but now the focus of attention was on Glenda Harwood, because she appeared in one place first and 10 minutes prior was in another, and it was impossible, Billings passed from frustration to confront a new mystery, how people on the mines move to fast in the Silo. I really like how Billings just open his eyes and start really pay attention to what is happening, also how he decided that he is not longer playing to be sheriff, almost like he got upgraded with a new purpose and no matter what he needs to go through to get the answer he is looking for.

Camille and Sims No Longer Trust Each Other

The conflict between a Camille and Sims is real and something that I bet nobody expected to be so ambigous because even though Camille should send Sims to clean, she just cant because of two things and thats his position at the Silo and the fact that he is the father of their only child, but they no longer trust each other and for being husband and wife things are going to be more difficult for both of them, starting with Sims knowing about Juliette, Bernard and the people working against Camille, while she can tell that he is keeping something from her. Camille on the other hand is changing in every aspect and all because of the pressure of running IT and knowing what can really happen to the silo, while Sims is more open to work against her if she turn into a menace and go to far with her decisions, Camille is desperate to maintain control in the silo and she is already moving in that direction because by her own she decided to place the Vitamin D+ with the approval of algorithm, she doesn't care about anyone neither her family although she says the opposite, she basically puts in a balance either they kill us or we forget, she is so focus in her terrible choice because she is so confident and has put so much trust into the algorithm who seem to have that same amount of confidence in her and she is doing this mostly because she believes control is safer than letting Juliette keep building support. She doesn't care about the people that is going to lose their memory, just imagined Knox and Shirley are pregnant imaging the scene that they drink the water with the Vitamin D+ and they forgot totally about that baby or Shirley wakes up not knowing who the father is or why and when she got pregnant, thats why their history tells how many people throw themself to the void of the Silo becuase their lifes even though they were already sad, had no meaning for them anymore, how that is going to the affect the baby or that Billings don't remember that is only 2 years of light and the supplies are also suffering. Is going to be very interesting see how this is going to be a reset for the silo and how is going to affect everyone.

This episode has been a great trip but end with a scene from the past that didnt have anything interesting at least for now, with Helen and Daniel. They are inside a car driving through the highway when suddenly Daniel can't no longer control his car, someone or something taking them to a place and they can't resist. While that is happening Helen confess why her carrier ends, she has big news but one of her source was discovered so she didn't hesitated and decided to damaged her own career and protect that person, that's all or maybe it is how the episode wants us to believe, probably the end of her carrier has something planned to prepare her for what was coming and that also with his brother. After that talk, the car was lead to a hangar where the Senator Rosalind Thurman appears and offers Daniel and Helen a role in stopping what is coming, this is first time in a while that their section feels like it is moving directly toward the creation of the silos instead of giving another small clue. There's more to discover with Helen and Daniel and the role that they are going to take in this important task that is save the world but at the moment I want to know how everything in Silo 18 is going to continue working because they are more enemies than allies, well at least until the past scenes get more interesting, they will at some point.

On episode 5 we finally get confirmation of something I was suspecting and gets me very skeptical for when real danger arrives because Robert Sims finally becomes more than the angry enforcer who spent two seasons wanting the power Bernard would never hand him, and only kinda did when they were out of options and turn Sims into his shadow but this was a desperate move that not even the algo took as a close deal, because when the time arrive it was his wife chosen as head of IT. Keeping Bernard alive gives the episode a strong center because its not one clean motive, its resentment, fear, curiosity and worry for Sim's son mixed together, and the episode never pretends one good decision wipes out what he has done. He has hurt people for years telling himself he was protecting the Silo and now Camille has him doing that same dirty work while keeping him in the dark, exactly the position Bernard always kept him in, except now he refuses to stay useful and uninformed. Saving Bernard is still risky, the man has lied to him, killed people and used him for years, but Sims gets that killing the only person who has read the Order just makes him useless to the system and at the same time hands Camille and the algo all the leverage. There is nothing heroic about saving Bernard, Sims always works on this best interest but this time might be noble, he needs Bernard to predict Camille, needs Juliette alive for what she learned in Silo 17 and needs the people he used to hunt down to pull this off. He is not joining hands with everyone asking to be forgiven, he is building a plan with people who hate him because everyone in that room has found something worse to worry about and its not anymore about if they going out of the Silo, its already known there are others so now it seems that the series is pivoting into how we going to get to those other Silo.

Bernard is now a beacon of knowledge so its just obvious he gets a lot more interesting once the episode leaves him burned, weak and depending on people he gave every reason to hate him, still they take every oportunity they can get a cheap shot. Shirley, Knox, Walker and Carla have zero reason to trust him, especially after he threw Shirley and Knox under the bus over Judge Meadows and turned the Silo against them and this is something I really like because it never feels like they are just this happy team, instead the episode never makes you believe or tells you to forget that just because he now admits he spent years following orders he believed would protect the Silo, all of the sudden this is a pure change of heart. I still do not forgive the guy, you really get to grow at least some dislike of him and I am not really sure how much of his help is regret versus just wanting to survive. He was ready to die before learning Juliette might know how to stop the safeguard, so staying alive gives him a reason to keep going, would he be on this position if he didnt got into the fire?, got to give it to Tim Robbins because the guy sells that uncertainty well. Bernard is in real pain, scared and out of control for once the Silo doesnt rusn around him, but he still knows more than almost anyone living in it, its just all the unconfirm knowledge of the Order that he has, the forgetting drug, the relics and the radio channels gives the group what they need and still he is not the one calling the shots, this drug and the relics now make so much sense why they never wanted them out in the wild on Season 1. Its alsmot like Bernard has to ask for trust after years of making trust him impossible, which is a much better use of the character than just killing him off, they flip the script and it gives his scenes with Sims real weight since both men now understand what it feels like to protect a system.

Juliette finally getting her memory back is the other reason this episode feels like the season moved past its slowest episodes, something that has always hunt this series but same as the relics the missing memory idea had a real point in here, at the end made this five episode so much worth, because the truth is that five episodes of waiting for her to remember the safeguard was starting to hold everything else hostage and this episode gives the answer room to breathe instead of dragging it into another long mystery. Sims and the rest gather relics tied to her life, some bring back pieces of George, her dad, and people she used to know, but at some point it felt useless like trying to solve a math problem they have no clue what the formula means, none of it gets her to remember the thing that matters. The Pez dispenser is what finally breaks through and its not just some random relic, it carries Sims own fear that the forgetting drug could wipe out his son and leave Anthony unable to remember him, such the irony almost like they kept a character alive for this three seasons waiting for this moment, imagine if you would know that realic would make it all the way to this episode and be what triggers her memory. Juliette used that same dispenser against his family once, so there is still anger wrapped up in it, but he gives it back anyway because her memory might save everyone, a real change for both characters, its just like that moment call for a white flag without apologizing to each other. Once Juliette remembers Solo, the poison and the pipe that can be capped, the episode gives the group an actual direction, she does not get every answer back which stop from it feeling too easy, but remembers enough to act. At the same time there are some other key factors like Walker figuring out the radio channels, Bernard knows how the Order responds, Sims built the hidden network and but there is still the missing supplies that even though Bernard does not demand that much, might be related to someone plan on their group.

As any other episode it aint perfect and my biggest worry is that the series keeps piling on urgent problems when the safeguard should be the focus so Im not sure if the entire episodes is trying to grasp too many problemsa the same time or will they be able to make the best out of each one. The second most important one aside from Jules getting back her memory is supply, where Billings finally learn why Orla was digging into Critical Supply and this matters a ton because the missing light bulbs are not some small theft, Carla explains the Silo used to have decades worth left and now there may only be enough for two years and the gardens depend on them, so stopping the poison will not mean much if the food system collapses right after. I like that consequence, it makes the theft feel bigger than someone stealing stuff to trade, whoever took those supplies stole years off the future of everyone living down there and Orla probably died getting too close to the answer, but she could have discover they were keeping Bernard so could be that someone fat finger and kill her on the spot. My real problem with it is timing, not the idea, there is already Juliette with the pipe memory, Camille moving against Sims, Bernard hiding below, Lucas and Patrick joining up, Walker testing new radio channels and the before times footage stacking on another mystery; making a pause here did you notice how good the episode was because they focus on the Silo only?, so yeah the supply case risks becoming one more thing that gets a few minutes a week while the show juggles which danger matters most. Billings has felt cut off from the main story for too long, he was key on season 2 and now feels like doing his cop thing in the background tying his murder investigation to the survival of the whole Silo could finally make his part in the season way bigger, I just need the show to commit to it. Two years sounds far off next to poison that can go off any minute, but an underground society running out of the lights it needs to grow food is not some side plot and now it has to keep the theft from getting buried under everything else, I just hope they give it the importance it should.

This episode finally gives season three some real direction, and its all because of Bernard, well and Sims who was a bit suspicious already last episode with all the memory stuff he was talking about his kid. Before this, the season had plenty going on but none of it connected, Juliette losing her memory, Camille taking orders from the algo, Sims wandering around without much purpose, different groups hiding from the raiders. Bernard turning up alive near the digger void pulls all of that together because he is not just some guy who survived, he is someone who knows more about the Silo than almost anyone, and him being alive means the story everyone was told about his death was a lie but most importantly the algo has no idea of this even with all the cameras and mics around the Silo, somebody hid him and treated his burns for close to three months without Camille knowing, though its not confirmed how much of that Sims arranged himself. I liked that the episode does not rush to explain the whole plan the second Juliette finds him, he just greets her and thats enough, because the real point is that someone close to power helped bury the truth about him. I also love the double agent traps every where because you got to admin there were multiple times where the nurse couldnt be trusted and then when she say go to room 76 who shows up?! fkn Sims I was like wait a minute who is lying and who wants Jules dead?. That makes Sims way more interesting since he was the one who told everyone Bernard was dead and clearly knows more than he has told his own wife. It also gives Juliette someone who might help her figure out those missing months, since shes already getting pieces of George and the digger void back, so Bernard turning up there feels like it actually means something. First time all season the Silo plot has somewhere real to go.

Sims is a lot harder to read this episode, which is good since his scenes finally connect to something bigger than backing up Camille. Camille decides Juliette has to die in medical and Sims offers to handle it himself, which could have played as another cold move, until Amy changes the plan and makes his offer feel suspicious in a much more interesting way. Amy sedates Emerson, gets Juliette out, and admits someone already asked her to swap the memory drugs before Juliette started refusing them, the most awesome part of all this is how things starts to unfold from Amy to Sims to someone even higher. Then Sims is just waiting in pump room 76 telling her she needs to listen, so obviously Jules just got out from Medical when she though Amy was going to kill her and the got into Pump Room 76 where Sims shows up and she thinks he also wants to kill her, ends up been the total opposite. Juliette has every reason to run from him considering she got no memory, by all means even from Shirley but there is something about her, but the episode gives us enough to think Sim might have been trying to help her all this time, specially trying to pospone Vitam D+ not only for his son. Im not ready to say Sims is one of good guy, he could be protecting his family, protecting himself, using Bernard for information or trying to stop Camille from wiping everyone out through the water, there is something of interest for him, nothing is because of his good heart, and what works here is that none of those options let him off the hook so he still a suspect and cant trust him. If Sims hid Bernard, that was still a calculated and dangerous call. Amy matters more now than before, at first she was just a simple nurse following orders, her choice explains why Juliette has been getting her memory back, and her getting caught make Juliette have more skin the game because knowing her, she would want to save Amy. I kind of wish Juliette had listened to Sims for a few seconds, but her distrust still makes sense and now Bernard gives him another shot at proving what he was actually trying to do.

Billings finally gets a break that makes the Orla investigation feel like it matters and we needed that because this part had been crawling like he was getting nowhere and had no real purpose on this season, I got a big hunch he is going to get on Juliette side soon or latter. Orla did not die from the poison in the mines like everyone assumed, she was hit in the back of the head somewhere else and moved into the tunnel so her body would stay hidden, somebody made sure she stayed lost. Billings still does not know what she found, but everyone around Supply gives him reasons to keep digging, her sister was the one who first called Mike her boyfriend and Mike does not seem bothered shes gone, that was such a killer question "it doesnt bother you..??", Billings was trying to get any kind of emotions out of him but show none so he knows something is going on. Glenda shows back up acting ready to take the shadow position and Carla has apparently been missing for months, none of that proves who killed Orla, and the episode is smarter for leaving it open instead of rushing an answer, I like that because its keeping some of the good stuff for latter, but what really matters is that Orla was looking into missing critical supplies and now she is dead and some evidence can disappear, that could connect to Bernard, the water plan, the mines or something else entirely, since Bernard would need food, medicine and clean dressings to stay hidden, so diverted supplies is one guess, but nothing here confirms Orla found him or that her death came from the people protecting him, probably Orla over reacted when discover the entire operation and someone fat figer killing her. I like that the series is having Billings follow the evidence instead of grabbing the easy explanation.

My biggest complaint is still the Before Times stuff, it moves way slower and with way less danger than everything happening inside the Silo, its like the Silo situation sets the bar so high the side line cant keep up. Helen and Daniel know Steve is gone, his work area got destroyed and the recording tied to Charlotte disappeared with it, they know they might be watched which is why they are staying at Palmers place instead of home and it should make every move like they getting closer to the danger zone as they get closer to the truth of what went down in Iran, but too much of this part is still people slowly talking through clues. The chess game at least gives them something, and just something because its a hunge and nothing really concrete since Steve may have been sending messages through his moves and Daniel asks Sam to figure out who was playing against him, who at first came up with some sht show like he was panicing. Then shows up this older goverment guy who makes the threat clear when he offers Helen a newspaper job and reminds Daniel that Charlottes care is being paid for by the same powerful group they are investigating so they can pull the plug anytime, thats not a friendly offer, its a warning that they can be controlled without anyone needing to arrest them, sometimes giving others what they want says more than taking form them because its a clearn sign of who is in control. My issue is they react way too calm after learning how easily Steve and the recording got erased, their reasons for hesitating make sense but arguing about it just takes too much time and gets them nowhere. Sam calling back gets things moving again but the episode keeps what he says hidden so we are still at the same place, the only thing that change was that they got an offer to shut the hell up and I get they want to hold things but this part needs more than another lead followed by another meeting. The Silo plot has a murder, memory loss, a planned killing and Bernard hiding underneath everyone, Before Times cannot keep crawling at half that speed, they have to spice it up quick.

So far I would say this is the strongest episode of the season because it turns a bunch of separate problems into one bigger conflict. Juliette is getting pieces of herself back, Shirley helps her escape, Lucas tells Kennedy the outside is still dangerous and Bernard shows up in the one place that unlocks some of what Juliette lost because she had some strong feelings from the times she spend with George here, we got all of this characters holding different pieces of the truth and none of them trusting each other. Juliette needs Bernard but has every reason to hate him, Lucas knows things about the Silo but Kennedy will not accept his belief about the outside is wrong, and Sims might actually be helping but nobody should trust him without proof. I like that the episode does not pretend these people can sit down together and sort everything out, the lies are too personal and too many of them have already hurt each other in the past or hurt someone related to them, all this going on and Juliette still dont remember her father, they guy who bomb himself for the cause, so wait until that sink in. Bernard changes things because he can explain part of the missing three months and might know why Sims kept him alive, this season needed that kind of real progress. Bernard gives her a way back to the truth and gives the plot someone who can push back on Camille, but the ending alone is not enough, next episode has to actually use him, explain who helped him, show what Sims wants, and get Before Times to stop circling the same danger, but knowing tv series, they just wont, they know they got us hooked so it wouldnt surprise me if we get a filler episode next. This episode finally feels focused and the season needs to hold onto that instead of turning Bernard into one more secret it refuses to explain.

Well there are things that just dont change, and that is Silo turning a bit draggy while all the mistery is brewing up and unfolding, there is still a lot to uncover and remember and so does "A Dark Web" because it turns to be good at when the investigation actually has consequences, when the grind is happening the cop work, but the episode takes too long getting there. Juliette getting sharper after secretly stopping the pills is a good change, she finally feels active again instead of waiting for people to tell her who she used to be and Rebecca Ferguson sells that shift without needing a speech about it, there are constant actions like her taking the gloves from that worker and going straight down using that rope, she just jumps into the void. She starts reading people again, notices when Kathleen Billings is hiding something and refuses to accept Lukas Kyle is dead just because everyone else already gave up on him, honestly I thought he was. I like that her instincts come back before her memories do, it shows Camille has not managed to erase everything that made her dangerous to IT and the algo. The problem is the search drags through too many conversations saying the same thing, Shirley avoids her, Knox has nothing solid and the people at the mines only confirm Lukas had good reason to hide there, the mines is a floor I would love them to explore more, mainly for context of the what the Silo is. The best part of these scenes is Juliette turning the blame back around, Shirley is hurt Juliette does not remember their friendship, while Sims carries a colder version of the same complaint since his son still remembers being scared of her, even though she cannot recall any of it, she has lost almost everyone and cannot even understand why their faces are supposed to matter, that hits hard specially when she cant remember what is to have a father.

Camille is the most interesting person in the episode because every choice she makes can be explained, but that does not make any of it okay. She does not want to put the memory drug in the water because she knows what it would take from close to ten thousand people, and Robert seeing that Juliette cannot remember her own father makes the danger personal for him. Camille and Sims are risking a lot here, not only been affected by this drug but their son is the priority and Camille is starting to see it as collateral damage because she clearly told Sims to make sure their son makes it alive of that Silo no matter what, this also includes all the memories he might have of them together as a family. I obvious whey she keeps looking for a way out even when that means killing others, especially when the algorithm keeps presenting the drug as the safe option without caring whether the people left behind still know who they are. At the same time she keeps treating every delay like permission to gamble with somebody else, she lets Juliette go search for Lukas because it might confirm he is dead and expose Patrick Kennedy, and that is not a careful plan, it is Camille avoiding one terrible decision by pushing the risk onto Juliette instead, its almost like she gambling and letting Juliette reckless somehow save the Silo and avoid using the Vitamin D+. She admits protecting Anthony is the whole point of what she and Robert want, yet she is also willing to destroy other families the moment their lives get in the way. The more pressure she is under, the easier it gets for her to call cruelty necessary and that bothers me because she is starting to put dutty over her own family while the algorithm just throws more gasoline into the fire by adding to those thoughts.

I think one of the aspects that is hurting the season the most is this present and past situation going on, both have very good moments but the transition is very drastic to the point that the series cuts you off from one to the other, in some cases during very interesting moments. In the present we got Daniel and Helen who have the right kind of danger around them, the goverment is on their tails, but their part of the episode feels weaker because it keeps the useful information out of reach. Daniel learns the pilots used communication equipment that could be recorded and Helen thinks she can track that recording down through one of her dark web contacts, her getting fired right after she starts asking questions gives the investigation a sense that someone got their eyes on them, especially with that same mysterious man showing up near people connected to Charlotte and the mission. The missing contact and the wrecked room point toward somebody working to bury that recording, though the episode never says who or why. The problem is the episodes doesnt let use listent to the recording that scares them so badly, shocked faces only carry so much when the recording itself is missing in action been the sauce that would give more context of the situation with the pilots at Iran. We know twenty seconds of it exist and that it changes how Daniel sees the situation, then the evidence disappears before it tells us anything clear. The chess move after the contact gets warned about being tracked feels like it should matter and provide us more context but it never arrives, we never learn what it means and this creates a big disatisfaction for me. Daniel deciding to go back for the tape shows the investigation has become more than a family matter to him now but I wish the episode just stop hidding this info and start to data dump what really went down and why, there are ways to do this properly without telling the entire story but they just keep hiding everything.

I mention above how cool would be if we get more context about the mines, a place everyone describes as hell but once they start showing it its not like they describe, at least now what they show on this episode. Camille ordering the fumigation is the moment that changes how I see her, she turns into the monster that the series is expecting. She believes Lukas might be digging toward another Silo and the algorithm warns that contact between silos could set off the safeguard, that explains her panic, but it does not excuse pumping gas into occupied tunnels without giving anyone enough time to get out. She knows miners can die and gives the order anyway because stopping Lukas matters more to her than anything as he is an important link in the chain of Juliette getting back her memories. The episode also pull this foolish and reckless moves without much ground as when Knox and Juliette jump right into the mines full of gas, that choice comes with a real consequence instead of another easy win, but still too convinient as when Juliette grabs a mask, tries to help a man, loses the mask when he takes it off her and collapses before she can get out. Her instinct to help somebody does not protect her from the damage around her, I wonder if this toxic gas is going to have some sort on effect on her phisically or even if that somehow kicks in some old memories. Lukas finding her and carrying her out gives the search a satisfying moment setting him up as the hero of th emoment, even if it is a little convenient and it matters because Juliette was right when everyone else had already given up on him. Finding Orla Kent in the mines also gives Billings an actual case instead of just a disappearance sitting in the background. Camille gets what she wanted because Lukas gets forced out into the open, Juliette gets proof he is alive and Billings gets a body that could expose another secret, none of that feels like clean answers, its just the tip of the iceberg and there is more cop work to be done and grind to uncover the truth which is why this episode works better than the earlier search did.

The ending is what makes the episode stronger because it turns Camille from someone stalling an awful choice into someone actually ready to make one, Lukas and Juliette plus her memories is a very dangerous setup she doesnt want to deal with, anything is better than getting the Silo wipe out during a "safeguard protocol". Juliette is unconscious in the hospital after the fumigation and the algorithm tells Camille her death could be spun into a story about sacrifice and unity, which would get rid of Juliette as a threat while letting everyone else skip the memory drug entirely. I can see why Camille wants that option to be real, she would only have to sacrifice one person, Anthony would still remember his parents and the Silo could be told Juliette died a hero saving people in the mines. The problem is that only works if Camille is willing to murder a helpless woman and lie about it afterward, I mean many have done it, her husband is a specialist on this matter and should as him. The algorithm praises exactly what made her useful, her skill at deceiving Robert and playing both sides during the rebellion, and even though that is manipulation, she still responds to it. Her admitting she once admired Juliette makes it worse, she used to respect that Juliette searches for the truth and now she treats that same instinct as dangerous enough to justify killing her, you live long enough to see your hero turn the villain. I do not think the show kills Juliette here because the entire series turns around here but the cliffhanger works because the real question is what Camille tries next and how far Robert lets her go. This episode drags in a few spots and the Daniel and Helen side of the story needs to give us more than missing evidence and scared faces. Even after all this small problems, the episode ends in a much better place than it started, Lukas is alive, Juliette is paying for her reckless search, Billings has a new mystery and Camille has crossed a line that is hard to explain away. I give this episode a strong 7.5/10, I know it might be boring for others but I do like the investigation work and the risks taken here, even when some are just too dumb.

I have not been feeling that well lately, got the cold but nothing that puts me on bed, still took the time to watch Silo S03E02 and the level of paranoia this show keeps building on is completely nuts, just think about whats going on if you were Juliette, who the F can you actually trust?. The episode starts by revealing the algorithm has 352 years of data while speaking directly to Camille, which changes everything about this underground world, since they have apparently been calculating human behavior for centuries, and still there are wildcards here and there, those who dont fit the data. It turns very creepy when you give it a second thought, watching the system flat out tell Camille that her frustration is noted, like it is just another data point while she is out there trying to force this new narrative onto Juliette, treating human beings like lab rats in one giant experiment, measuring every little reaction to keep control. Hearing the algorithm state that six Silos total have gone through full resets, makes me feel like all this Silos are ant farms, an even their own Silo about a hundred and forty years ago was reset too, confirming that wiping out the memory of an entire population is just standard operating procedure for whoever is pulling the strings. I love how trapped this show makes you feel, watching the system track a graph with a red line and a blue line while it orders Camille to keep up the medication for two more weeks straight, tighten the security around Juliette and double her effort to convince her that she is the one person Juliette can actually trust, Rebecca is doing such a good job playing a version of Juliette that is totally lost and different from previous season.

Its very obvious that even though things are fuzzy, Juliette slowly fight back against the mind control they are pushing on her, one of the first actions take is that she finally spits that memory erasing vitamin down the sink drain, proving she still has that rebellious spark we have seen on previous seasons. Knox had already filled her in on how Lukas Kyle went down into the digger void before he vanished and there is this brief moment where Juliette is staring up at the stars in the cafeteria, sparks up a loose a splinter memory tied to him, which feels like a huge victory after watching her walk around in a haze. It gets even better when she slips away from her security detail by faking her security "touch" her, that was hilarious because latter on she ask her security detail to forget her in the most stone cold way, but this still proof she is getting her sharp edge back. The sequence where she finally meets up with Patrick Kennedy and the other rebels is very cool though, and the rebels using a hidden tunnel built right into the storage room to slip past the raiders makes you wonder how many more are hidden around, and will they investigate this tunnels? makes me think more and more about the ant farm. Kennedy drops the truth bomb that the helmet Juliette brought back has the number 17 inside of it, while the one they stole has the number 18 and watching her mind try to process the existence of other silos based on the helmet number, she do start to remember but cant get to understand things, you can tell her frustration and Rebecca Ferguson make it look so real.

This episode although felt a bit weird because even though the past story is interesting too it kinda throws you off, mostly because the silo environment is all dark and claustrophobic and then you got the open world, still the episode does a create job at mixing political tension through the supporting characters reminds me so much of the best moments from the first season where things were mor political between Bernard and Simms. You have Sheriff Paul Billings sitting at his desk having a full blown crisis of faith as he rewrites the sacred pact, now caught in the middle of a huge cover up investigating the disappearance of Orla Kent. Orla went missing right after raising concerns about supplies disappearing from critical stock and noticing the chairlifts could be used to move resources around without anyone noticing, and the paranoia is off the charts when you realize Billings is covering for his own wife Kat, who is secretly working with the outsiders and got her wrist smack so she can be connected to the break in at IT during episode 1. The whole thing of throwing this vitamin on the water supply does look like total chemical warefare within the Silo itself without anyone noticing, showing how the upper levels dump memory wiping vitamin compounds straight into the water supply, I only wonder when this is going to blow up, watching the barrels going up the stairs at night and nobody knowing whats going on, its like parading a nuclear bomb that will actually wipe out everyones memory. The writers did a great job on this season so far in my opinion keeping things focus on the claustrophobic terror of being trapped underground with corrupt leaders.

I do have some concerns, nothing that serious though, mnostly how certain characters are acting right now though, particularly Shirley who completely ignores Juliette at the marketplace. I get that Shirley is hurt because Juliette looked straight through her the first time she showed up in the cafeteria after her recovery, but it makes zero sense for her to armor up and abandon her best friend, and it just feels like manufactured drama to keep Juliette isolated a little longer, making Shirley look like a total asshole and at the same time the boiler about to explode. Over in the before times timeline, I am struggling with Daniel and how easily he accepts Dr Victor explaining the memory erasure process on his sister Charlotte or even how easily he gave up where her sister is to reporter Helen, they making him look too naive for someone into politics, so watching Daniel sit there nodding while the doctor talks about building a drawbridge to wipe her slate clean feels incredibly stupid, by then he must understand that if they wanted to errase her memory it was for the wrong reasons. You would expect a loving brother to be furious that some random clinic is playing God with his siblings mind, but instead he treats it like a convenient way to rewrite history, but why? he also mention there are certain things he would like his sister to forget or dont think about him, this was a big wtf for me. The jump between timelines feels abrupt too, I did mentino this above, cutting from tense Silo moments to Helen questioning Daniel, and Helen bringing up that the planes had bunker busters and old communication systems from the eighties is interesting, like the Air Force knew what they were dealing with but not the pilots. I wish they go more into details of what the hell was that black cloud Charlotte and her crew got into at Iran, there is also that black goo that eat up their F-35 making them crashed, instead of just having characters explain it based on what they remember, also I just remember Charlotte called Daniel by the name Donald, who the hell is Donald?? , its just feels odd how both the past and present get intense and they just cut it off to move between timelines, would be nice if they just do a full present or full past episode.

At the end Season 3 is turning way better than Season 2 and thats withouth even getting into the real sauce, when Juliette finally recovers her memory, makes me wonder if they will keep this for the end. There is this dread sense that you can feel when the algorithm lays out that graph for Camille, showing how much risk Juliette can be for the Silo and the system if the memory protocol fails, is phenomenal and Camille is stuck force feeding Juliette a fake story about a refuge hut, knowing the system is prepared to dump that memory wiping compound into the water the second it decides she is too much of a risk. It is a smart way to set that set of tension without needing big action or any kind of confrontation, yet, mostly going entirely on psychological manipulation and the terror of losing your own identity. I mostly interested in seeing how Juliette uses these tiny splinters of memory to dismantle the machine from the inside, now that she knows the pills are the enemy. Despite my frustrations with the before times shananegans and Shirley acting so poorly, the core mystery of the Silo is still one of the most engaging puzzles for this series, when we though after S02 that Juliette was going to get real answers going back to Silo 18, that fire at the entrance screw up everything. I am giving this episode a very 8/10, because it delivers some crucial answers about the memory drugs while setting up a sense of silent panic around getting that vitamin compound into the water before things spiral down any further. Towards the end its going to be a battle between the Algorithm and humans, and honestly I do think there is someone behind all this and not just an algo.
