Today was another beautiful sunny hot day in Bangkok and there are times it's so hot that you don't want to leave your air-condition office or apartment but i needed to go to Phra Khanong markets and stock up on my fruit and veggies as my fridge was crying to be filled up.
The market i like to go to is a few stops train stops away from my place but it is a worth while trip to this market as it has everything i need in one place.
I always find it a delight walking around these markets as i know most of the people in this market and they are always so friendly and chatty also there prices are really reasonable.
The main reason why i came to these markets today is that it is mango season now in Bangkok and i love my variety of mangoes and this market has all the varieties of mangoes possible.
There are many varieties of mangoes grown in Thailand i myself have seen maybe 20 different types all have there different flavor , fragrance , size and shape depending in the soil it is grown in.
I love most of the varieties of mangoes but the one that i like the most is what they call the King Mango in Thailand it is call "Nam Dok Mai" in Thai.
It can be up to 10 inches long and weigh from one kilo to one and a half kilos the skin remains green it doesn't turn yellow like the common mango you know it's ripe and ready to eat by feeling how soft it's getting.
The other amazing thing about this King Mango it's mostly all flesh with a skinny long seed found inside so there is certainly a lot of mango there to eat and juicy and sweet at that. The other amazing thing one of these huge mangoes can only cost you $1 US for one so i bought 3 i would have liked to buy more but it is a lot of weigh to carry home apart from all my other fruits and veggies that i bought.
Of course i couldn't wait to get home and mow into one of these King Mangoes just superb.
In Thailand mangoes are a very part of there culture known as the King of Fruits it is used in both, sweet and savory dishes. One of my other ways of eating this King Mango is mixed in with sticky rice and a sweetened milk with some nuts sprinkled over the top just to die for very popular dessert dish amongst the tourist and Thai's of course.
Well that was my exciting @wednesdaywalk amongst the beautiful people of Thailand markets and i was very content with my days shopping.
