My thoughts after the contest is over

So this was the last day when anyone could have submitted an entry to the first edition of the competition Books and Life (more about the contest you can read here.) The budget for this competitions was 600 HBD. 100 HBD went to a charity of my choice and 500 HBD will go to the best 5 entries in the comments. There is also a surprize award for the best long post entry. Thank you to everyone who participated.

So the book contest is over. I have discovered new exciting books throughout the many comments and posts that I have received. Hopefully as years pass by this competition will attract more people interested in the magic of books.

I have found myself having some thoughts connected to the Hive platform and the users that are here. I was having many ideas in regards to creating a book community and I was daydreaming about some stuff.

How would it be to be able to create small chat rooms with the users that I choose in order to have discussions and friendly conversations? Just like you could do it on discord. But on Hive.

How would it be to be able to have a video call with someone that I would like to have a face to face interaction? This could be useful when a topic is very important and we could connect more. This could be useful for people who maybe are virtual friends since forever but rarely see each other. Just like you would do it on Zoom.

How would it be for a user to be able to include live streaming from his account and allow all his followers or some of them to be included? These live chats could help bond a community and connecting a creator with people interested. Just like you would do it on Twitch.

How would it be to be able to sort the people you follow on colours which represent your interest on a topic that they represent in their posts ( I know yellow stands for food, purple for philosophy, green for art etc.)? How would it be to have a notification when one of your favorites tries to reach out and comment so the color would pop up and you would not miss it? Because one can receive so many comments that words can get lost.

I daydreamed about the idea of Hive being able to include more real interaction tools implemented on the platform itself, without the need to reach to other platforms like discord, zoom,instagram, telegram etc. I entertained this ideal and I imagined a more interactive Hive. With a single button from my Hive account I could choose to go live, to create a special chatroom, to instantly chat with a friend who is online at that time etc.I wonder if I am the only one dreaming of this. On Hive. Without having to click anywhere else I could do everything here. I wonder....

I might announce the winners earlier than the 7 days specified in the announcement as I have found the number of entries not too overwhelming to evaluate.

Good idea and foresight, it serves the purpose of connectivity and Hive's better growth.

It would be really nice if Hive had a system to chat with others. I look forward to such a wonderful discovery. If a chat feature is built on Hive, I will completely quit using other social media platforms. Of course in Hive I found some community and friends who are blessing to me.

Imagine if instead of sending a comment we could send a video comment (this idea occurred me right now). We click 'video comment', our webcam pops and we record and send, just like on Whatsapp. I'm not sure how that would word regarding the security, but it would sure be fun.

It'll be nice. Not just nice, but perfect. A dreem come true...interactions with people to discuss a lot of things. It'll be a unique beauty to see. A place where humans come together to explore lots of things without getting tired.

@creativemary I totally love your bookish daydreams about a more interactive Hive. Having live chats, video calls, color-coded interests would definitely bring the community closer. I hope this dream comes to reality so day. Fingers crossed.

Really the way you describe those interactions sound great! I feel it would attract more users on Hive, plus it would help a lot with the interactions in the communities themselves, personally I would like to be in a book lovers chat hehehehe.

Trying to reply to the general direction of your thoughts:

I'd say we should try develop better interfaces to make it easier to connect Hive to outside services that offer things like video streaming or voice call. These technologies change, and it's impossible to keep up, if we try integrating everything. I mean: We shouldn't compete with youtube as a video-platform. They are too good at it. We should rather embrace it and see how we can make best use of it, instead.

These are nice ideas, I have also thought about having a user-friendly live chat on #hive that can bring users together. I hope that these ideas can one day materialize.

That's some great ideas! I believe the way these ideas can be achieved, is through a different front. There are currently many different hive fronts, thus i believe it can be easier for such implementations. At the same time though, it needs to be something different and unique otherwise it will be like another Facebook, another Twitch and so on. Btw i think you can create YouTube-like videos and live through 3speak but i don't put my hand on fire.

Btw if you want to simply have a nice chat, let me know and i can share my discord name. I also think if i got it correctly that you are from Romania, i am from Greece, so it's nice i believe to know your close neighbors. Hey you never you may one day visit Greece or i visit Romania and its nice to have someone to tell you about must-go places, places that locals prefer, places to avoid, hidden gems etc

I buy the idea of face to face interaction because it will actually add value and also build up, it can be started with just few while gradually it will grow 🪴.
