Colour predjudiced

Before you go any further I want to say that this post is extremely colour prejudiced...that's right, colour is not welcome. It's not like I don't like colour just that sometimes the absence of it lends a different feel or tone to an image and I find it appealing so I've selected a few to share here.

If you're ok with that then proceed, if you're not ok with it you'd best be moving along.

Below is a selfie I took of Cleo and myself - she was snoozing and I couldn't resist a cuddle even thought I knew she'd wake up. I like this shot because in black and white my beard and her fur look sort of the same.

This is a building in the city taken from ground level and I like the geometric shapes, the contrast between the straight lines of the building and 'motion' the structure in the foreground brings to the shot despite it being constructed by straight lines.

This one reminds me of the passage of time. I imagine someone buying this tractor brand new back in the day and putting it to work for the first time and now, years later, it sits abandoned and discarded and left to rust away.

I find cafe's are often vibrant places as their owners go out of their way to create a happy and welcoming mood and vibe as they know people will buy more and come back more often; it's odd to think of them (see them) as dull and colourless as this image portrays.

I like this image although as far as being anything special photographically it's not I guess. I like the way the reflections come up in black and white in the glossy paintwork and how the different light makes the paintwork look like it's not uniform and the way the sky reflects in the hood; of course, it's a legit Porsche too.

Here's an angry looking sky taken on an evening on which a storm had just come through. In real life it was quite pretty, nice blues and greys in the sky and contrasting aqua in the water, although was still somewhat sombre-feeling. In this image it seems rather bleak but I like it nonetheless.

Ok, that's it for now...just a few colour prejudiced images I thought I'd share. if you have any comments you can leave them below if you'd like.

I prefer B&W , photos convey much more to me in black and white than in color, it sounds strange but it's a personal preference

I enjoyed the post, every detail, especially the Porsche and the old tractor but also the shape of the building and the calm of the see, magnificent work mate, I loved it

  • @zekepickleman(79)· 813d

Wow these are some solid and impactful shots when you bring the contrast out with the black & white!

The depth of field on the coffee shot is pretty powerful. Makes me contemplate my coffee this morn and let the background fade away as I focus on my thoughts and my brain wakes up.

The cloud shot is downright menacing and I couldn't imagine it would look that mean in colour!

I used to convert images to black & white for Monomad Mondays back in the day but haven't in a while. I wonder which of my recent shots might translate well.

They are all beautiful photographs and in some, like the one of the coffee, the contrast and brightness of the light are excellent. The sky fascinates me but the best of all is Cleo's photo! That's the best one ever!

    Hug Galen!

If I found a time machine and found myself in Ancient Greece and Rome, I would take black and white photos there. There is a certain beauty in the absence of color and the absence of a long-gone era. I like the photo of the tractor.

  • @abdulwahab4004(52)· 814d

aesthetically pleasing. It's not always important that the presence of colors makes things beautiful, sometimes black and white gives you simple and sober vibes, not many colors to amuse your mind just black and white and you find it beautiful.

  • @nanixxx(76)· 814d

I prefer black and white to colour, so it's fine for me. Perfect, I'd say.

What beautiful pictures. My favourites are the second and third. In that order... Then the others.

These poor animals, I do the same thing to the cats and the dog if I see them snoozing anywhere and they're so cute you just have to. But then they start up the almighty purring (in the case of the cats) or the tail wagging (the dogs) and that's even cuter. Least they can sleep whenever so it's not like they're too deprived XD

I'm impressed you made black and white photography work, I can barely paint in grayscale (I think the only reason I know how to is because I've done light and shadow in greyscale previously but even now I mostly do it in colour) and photography is beyond me.

I'm a bit addicted to colour

I didn't find the cafe pic boring or dull, but mostly because I was busy looking at the contrasts and reflections which I feel really come into their own when you remove most of the colour :)

Cuddling, teasing sleeping pets is the best.

Colors are great. But sometimes it just has to be black & white. I like your pics.

  • @outwars(72)· 814d

I really like how the black and white just strips the image down. Without the vibrant colors, you are just left to appreciate the form of the object, and the shadows. The lack of distracting color makes the focus of the image pop out more. Those are wonderful pictures.

  • @jacey.boldart(73)· 814d

I'm kinda partial to colorful !

I do like how the B&Ws pop out so many interesting details that you might otherwise miss seeing, when multiple colors are singing so cheerfully all around.

I like the assortment of the photos you showed.

I was the same way with our dog when she was with us. She would finally settle down and I couldn't help but snuggle with her because she looked so cute. Of course it woke her up and unsettled her!
