Yes, the world revolves around money. I admit it's a harsh reality, given everything you just described, and in a way, we're slaves to a paradigm that's been around for millennia. I wonder what came first: power or money?
In any case, in recent years I've been quite captivated by Diogenes of Sinope. Because what it all comes down to is freedom. Perhaps the wealthiest billionaire isn't so different from the poorest. Both are governed by the same system and, consequently, driven by extremes. I've witnessed a convergence of these two sides of the coin and how the wheel of fortune plays with them. In an instant, one can go from generosity and abundance to misery and scarcity.
Capitalism, socialism, communism, anarchism—these are all models that end in -ism. Ideologies that ultimately confer power on a select few.
It's also ironic that only a few manage to achieve true freedom. Without money or the power that comes from the system. A freedom that, from an outsider's perspective, implies great sacrifices. How I envy them.
