Bean-paste based foods are definitely an acquired taste, I do not imagine it being enhanced in any meaningful way by a whole duck-egg π I have had them with a touch of cool mint, which was better than the first one I tried, which was like a cross between sweet, savoury and spice.
I buy a lot of unusual things even when I am sure I probably won't like them as I love to try unusual, novel, new things. Just to know that I have. M'lady thinks some of my choices are rancid, but we are only here once, right? I wanna try it all, broaden my palate, horizons and mind.
I used to work with a lot of agency workers (temps) and I always sought them out with friendship as they were usually left to the side in the factory, I was so often thanked (for basic human decency π although it was quite a closed-minded workplace)
Long story sort (that's never bloody true by the way!!!) I had food brought in for me so much π€£ it seems that many cultures show their thanks for kindness with home-made food. My friend Sankar and his lady Pavani both used to bring me samosas, pakoras and amazing lime pickle. Through Covid when m'lady and me were quite ill, I would receive a text message, saying Mr Steve, check your doorstep. There would be fresh cooked, warm food. I received gifts of African food too from my friend Godfrey and that is how I first got to try moon cake!
(Told ya, it wouldn't be a short story)
Being the only one (often not a joke!!! It used to disgust me with my colleagues, oh I did tell them!) first to break the ice and offer a reassuring smile kept me really quite well fed over the years!
