Sunrise at Neds Point Mattapoisett

Sunrise at Neds Point Mattapoisett

Good Morning, I hope life is treating you well

For today I am sharign a few shots from a sunrise walk I took at Neds point in Mattapoisett MA last year, Its about a 20 or 25 minute drive from my house so an easy and quick drive to get to and a lovely spot I enjoy visiting inthe early morning

Now something i didnt know till I read it today its called Neds pOint by most but is officially known as “Veterans of Mattapoisett Memorial Park,” its a nice spot for a panoramic view of the harbor, Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod, and the Elizabeth Islands as you relax there, I will be honest I have spotted the harbort easy to tell with the boats there, but havent noticed which is cape Cod or the Islands, probably because I am there inthe early morning, but next time I am there I will open a map App and work them out :)

The most recognizable feature of this picturesque coastal park is Ned’s Point Lighthouse, a 39-foot stone lighthouse built in 1838. Today, it’s one of the smallest active lighthouses on Buzzards Bay

aside fromthe lighthouse which I mainly focus on when i am there, there is a small beach as you can see its a bit Rocky, and part way along it there is a sign saying private property so I havent explored far down it I try to respect peoples private property

the green area isnt that big but it does have some tables and benches rest rooms and such I imagine on a nice day it may be popular, as I said I have always gone there inthe early morning so I am just guessing that

Awesome photos as usual! But you know me by now... I always love lighthouses...lol!

What struck me in this post though, is that you mention this lighthouse as being one of the smallest active lighthouses. I don't know if it's just me, but I'm so used to always seeing the biggest of this, the highest of that...but it's not often that I see the smallest (or one of the smallest) of something. Even in my own posts, I discovered items which according to information boards are the highest etc... So I found this quite refreshing

Thanks for sharing it with us, @tattoodjay👍!

It's crazy to think that something built over two centuries ago, is still in good condition and works. Imagine all the historical events that lighthouse must have seen over the years.

You took some really cool shots. Well done!

All these photos are nice, but that one in the evening where the top of the lighthouse is lit up is extra special.
