Far Cry 4: A Dangerous Journey Begins

nominated by @gabrielatravels · curator vote 9%

When I think about First Person Shooter game, Battle field, Far cry and many more game came to my mind. But I choose to play Far cry because this was one of my favorite game series.

First Impression

---

Far Cry 4 started in a very interesting way. Ajay Ghale comes to Kyrat to fulfill his mother's last wish. But things become dangerous very quickly. Before I could understand what was happening, there was an attack on the bus and everything changed.

Then Pagan Min arrived. His first appearance was really impressive. He looked calm, stylish, and dangerous at the same time. he took Ajay with him to his palace. The beginning of the game was full of mystery, and it made me curious about the story.

📑 Gameplay Story 📑

--- #

Pagan Min, the dictator of Kyrat arrives and takes Ajay to his palace. There they talk, it seems like Pagan Min knows Ajay's mother very well.

After Pagan Min leaves the room, Ajay decides to escape. During his escape, he sees that the Golden Path leader who was traveling with him is being tortured.

Before anything worse happens, Golden Path members come to rescue him, and a gunfight begins. Ajay escapes in a vehicle, but it is attacked and falls into a valley.

Ajay contacts Sabal, who asks him to reach a nearby tower. On his way, Ajay learns the basic gameplay mechanics, fights enemy soldiers, and uses stealth to survive. Finally, he reaches the tower, but enemy forces attack and destroy it before he can find safety.

🌎 World & Graphics 🌎

--- # My first impression of Kyrat was really good. The environment is beautiful and alive. The mountains, forests, and villages create a very natural atmosphere.

Pagan Min's palace also deserves a mention. It has a royal and luxurious look that perfectly matches his character. The game does a great job of showing both the beauty and danger of Kyrat.

The graphics still look very good, considering the game's age. The lighting, environment design make exploration enjoyable.

I even spent some time taking pictures with the in-game camera because some scenes looked amazing.

🎓 Learning the Basics 🎓

--- # This episode teaches many important gameplay tricks in a simple way. I learned how to use guns, crouch, assassinate enemies, and throw rocks to distract them.

The feature that I really liked was the camera system. By using it, I could mark enemy locations before attacking. It made planning much easier and encouraged me to play more carefully.

Instead of running into combat, I chose to use stealth whenever possible. Taking down enemies through assassination felt very amazing. I think this playstyle will be very useful in future episodes as well.

👍 Best Moment 👍

--- # My favorite moment from this episode is Pagan Min's introduction. His personality, royal style, and connection with Ajay's mother made him an important character.

I also enjoyed using the camera system and silently taking down enemies. It was fun.

⭐ Episode Rating ⭐

--- # Far Cry 4 had a very strong beginning. The story quickly caught my attention, the gameplay mechanics were enjoyable to learn, and Kyrat looks absolutely beautiful. I will rate it 8 out of 10.

-> Thank you for reading my first journey in far cry 4. If you enjoyed this post, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Far Cry has always lived and died based on the world it presents to the player (and the antagonist since FC3).

In the case of 4, setting the game up in the Hymalayas was really inspired, it really helped visually differentiate the game from its predecessors, which featured tropical islands and a war torn African country.

Thematically, they did do a huge callback to 2, since both games feature countries which are in the middle of civil wars, even adding Longinus to 4 to bring the point home, since he outright says that he was involved in the war from 2. They also showed the whole angle of both sides of the war ending up as bad for the country, because (spoilers beyond this point) the state either remains under Pagan, becomes a theocracy under Sabal, or a drug state under Amita.

Far Cry is also my favourite game. I last played Far Cry 3. After that, I didn't get a chance to play this series of games. But the start of the game is still the same type.
