Amidst Shadows: Santa Inés Church by Moonlight

Greetings, dear friends. I am continuing my series of posts focusing on the details of my city's landscape. Amidst an unexpected blackout, I thought it would be interesting to capture the moment through my camera lens. The urban scene in Cumaná was transformed, turning the lack of electricity into the ideal setting for this photo series. I present a minimalist collection of images exploring the architecture of the Church of Santa Inés bathed in semi-darkness, where natural moonlight becomes the true protagonist, highlighting the church's beauty.

Amidst the semi-darkness—owing to the absence of artificial lighting—the neoclassical details emerged in dramatic contrast. Moonlight bathed the temple's majestic façade in cool tones, creating an almost mystical atmosphere that underscored the solemnity of Cumaná's heritage.

Amidst the dim light, the figures of a few locals passing through or lingering in the vicinity can be made out. These souls add a layer of narrative life, especially since their social activities give rise to points of light that further enrich the photographs.

This collection is an experiment in how the unexpected absence of light and natural light can restore to historic spaces their air of enigma and ancestral majesty.
