Hola.
Hello. Several days have passed since the earthquake that shook my country, Venezuela. Amidst all the material devastation, I feel that the hardest part isn't rebuilding the walls, but confronting the emotions that have been trapped since that moment. Sometimes I wonder how to move forward when I know that many people around me have lost more than just objects; they've lost homes, family members, and even their own lives.

I speak from the perspective of loss, and I know that everyone processes it in their own way and in their own time. I also speak of that deep feeling that lingers in your throat every time you think about it. I can continue with my daily routine, go to work, take care of my family, but every time I open social media, there are those faces, those stories that weigh heavily on me and make me feel a mixture of guilt and sadness. I don't know if it's guilt for being able to continue living with some semblance of normalcy, or simply a confusion of emotions, a reflection of my sensitivity and empathy that sometimes seem too much for me to bear.

These past few days I've felt like I'm struggling to move forward. I find a lot of refuge in my family, in my grandmother, in my aunts, because they provide me with a safe and healthy place, words of encouragement, and the comfort I need to keep hope alive. However, every time I see social media, where images of destruction and pain are multiplying, my motivation falters. It's as if that reality traps me and reminds me how fragile we are in the face of nature.

I firmly believe I'm not the only one experiencing this mix of feelings. Many people must be going through something similar, feeling down, confused, perhaps finding their own ways to move forward. That's why, in an attempt to transform this sadness into action, I've looked for ways to help, to donate, to support those most in need, and that gives me a small light in the darkness, the feeling that, however small, my help can be a bridge of safety and healing for others.
Although I am alive, and my family is too, my home was not damaged and neither were those of my relatives, I still have that feeling as a Venezuelan, that my fellow citizens lost everything.

Thinking about all of this, I also reflect on my own dreams and plans. I've always longed for a home with my boyfriend, a safe place filled with love. I've saved little by little, working hard to achieve it. And it pains me to imagine so many people who lost everything in a matter of minutes, years of work and sacrifice reduced to ruins. That thought fills me with helplessness and sadness, because I can't fully understand Mother Nature's motives.

Amidst so many turbulent emotions and thoughts, the only thing that has given me the strength to go on is clinging to my family, as I've already mentioned. Telling them how much I love them, spending time with them, and recognizing the importance of every moment together. They are my refuge and my hope for finding meaning in this difficult situation.

I know it won't be easy and that the process will be long, but I trust that, step by step, with love and mutual support, we can heal and believe in life again. And in the meantime, I've learned that it's okay to feel sad, confused, or vulnerable. Because those emotions are also part of our journey toward resilience.
With all my heart, and with my emotions on full display, I will contribute to a better, safer, and stronger country.
