Hey gamers, how's it going? Hope you're all doing well. Continuing my adventure in Space Hulk, and just like we left it yesterday, we've officially stepped into Chapter 2, The Cadia's Hand. So let's not waste any time and get right into it.
Destroy the Nest
The first objective dropped on us right away: destroy the nest that's taken root somewhere deep in the ship. This means we've got to methodically sweep through the installation, purging every section of the vessel as we push toward the source, the actual heart of the infestation where the Genestealers have burrowed in and made their home. And man, this part of the mission really nails that dread-filled atmosphere Space Hulk is known for. You're walking through corridors coated in this organic biomass, walls that look almost alive, pulsing with whatever nightmare fuel the Tyranids secrete when they set up shop somewhere. It's genuinely unsettling in the best way possible.
What I like about this "purge the nest" objective is that it's not just a straight corridor walk with enemies popping out on a timer. It actually feels like you're closing in on something, like the deeper you go, the more the environment starts warning you that you're approaching the source. More biomass on the walls, tighter spaces, more Genestealer chatter echoing from somewhere close but not quite visible yet. By the time you finally reach the main source of the nest, there's this real sense of "okay, this is it," and destroying it feels genuinely satisfying, like you actually accomplished something instead of just checking a box on an objective list.
Grandmaster Belial's Orders: The Augur Array Primus
Once the nest goes down, Grandmaster Belial himself steps in with our next task, and this one's a bit more personal to the whole Dark Angels mystery. We're now tasked with locating the Augur Array Primus, some kind of sensor or scanning installation aboard the hulk, and we need to get it operational, or at least reach it, before we can even think about extraction. The reason behind this mission ties into locating the ship belonging to the Dark Angels that's apparently drifting somewhere within this same wreck.
Now, if you know a little bit about Dark Angels lore, and I've been reading up on this since I honestly had no clue going in, this whole thing hits different. The Dark Angels carry this massive secret, they've spent ten thousand years hunting down their own brothers who betrayed the Chapter ages ago, guys they call the Fallen. So when Belial sends us to track down another Dark Angels vessel hidden inside a Space Hulk crawling with Genestealers, it's not hard to guess this isn't just some routine salvage mission. There's clearly something the Order doesn't want getting out, and as a Deathwing Terminator, you're basically the guy trusted enough to go dig into it. That secrecy adds a really cool layer of tension on top of the usual "don't get eaten by aliens" stress the game already gives you.
Getting to the Augur Array itself is no cakewalk either. The path there is loaded with narrow maintenance shafts and cramped machine rooms, exactly the kind of spaces where Genestealers love to ambush you from angles you can't react to in time. A few times I got caught completely off guard by one dropping down from an overhead vent right as I was trying to interact with a console. Classic jump-scare territory, and it works every time even when you're expecting it.
The Push to Extraction
Once the objective is finally done, all that's left is getting out alive, and that's exactly where things ramp up hard. We've got to make our way to the extraction zone and board the ship waiting for us there, but of course, the game isn't going to let that happen quietly. To even reach the extraction point, we have to cut through a genuinely massive number of enemies actively trying to stop us before we can escape.
This section honestly felt like the game throwing everything it had at us in one last push, kind of like a final gauntlet before the mission officially wraps up. Genestealers coming from multiple directions at once, tight hallways turning into chokepoints, and that same relentless "if you stall, they keep coming" pressure I mentioned in my last post. It's chaotic, loud, and honestly a blast to fight through with a squad backing you up. There's something deeply satisfying about finally seeing that extraction ship come into view after clawing your way through wave after wave of Xenos trying to rip you apart.
Wrapping Up Chapter 2
So that pretty much sums up how Chapter 2, The Cadia's Hand, played out for me. Destroying the nest, tracking down the Augur Array Primus under Belial's orders, and then fighting tooth and nail just to reach extraction, it's a mission that keeps escalating from start to finish without ever really giving you a breather. And honestly, the fact that it's tying into this bigger mystery around the Dark Angels and whatever secrets they're hiding on that other ship has me way more invested in the story than I expected to be going in.
So that's the update for today, gamers. That's how the adventure in Space Hulk: Deathwing is going so far. See you all in the next post!
