I Complete the Junk Dealer's Mission and Reunite Him With His Love | Death Stranding

Hello gamers, how are you all doing? I hope everything is going great for all of you! I'm continuing my adventure in Death Stranding and I'm very happy to report that I finally managed to complete the Junk Dealer's mission and successfully bring him and the Chiral Artist back together. After the disaster of my last attempt where I watched my client die on my back in the middle of a BT encounter and had to start the whole thing over, this second run was a completely different story. Prepared, focused, and with a much better understanding of what this mission actually demands, I went back in and got it done. So let me walk you through exactly how it went this time around.

Transporting the Chiral Artist Along the Safest Route

The biggest lesson I took away from failing this mission the first time was that improvising the route simply does not work when you have a living person on your back. The Chiral Artist is not cargo you can repair or recover if something goes wrong. She's a human client, and if the BTs get to her, the mission ends immediately with no second chances. So before even picking her up from the studio this time, I mapped out the route carefully and committed to it completely.

The key adjustment was going around the worst of the BT concentration zone along the coast rather than cutting straight through the middle of it like I did the first time. It adds a little distance to the trip but the difference in BT density along the safer path is enormous, and when you have someone on your back who cannot take a single hit from those things, a longer route with less exposure is always the right trade. I also made sure to go into this run with a fully loaded kit, Blood Bags stocked up for the Anti-BT pistol, a good supply of Hematic Grenades as backup, and the Bola Gun ready to go for tying up any stray BTs before they got close enough to become a real problem. Having the Floating Carrier available to manage the rest of my cargo while carrying her also made the whole operation significantly more manageable than last time when I was trying to balance everything at once.

Escaping the BTs

And of course, even with the better route and the better preparation, the BTs made their presence known. Because that's just how Death Stranding works. You can plan everything perfectly and the Timefall will still start falling at the worst possible moment and the BB will still start reacting and those ghostly shapes will still start appearing out of the ground around you. That tension never fully goes away no matter how prepared you are, which is honestly one of the things that makes this game so effective. You never feel completely safe out there.

But this time the difference was in how I responded to that tension instead of panicking. When the BB started reacting and the Odradek began spinning, I slowed down, tracked the BT positions carefully, and started using the Bola Gun to pin down the ones that were drifting too close to my path. Then the pistol for any that got through the bola and kept coming. The combination of those two tools working together is incredibly effective for controlled BT navigation, something I wish I had leaned on more aggressively in my first attempt. At no point during this run did things escalate into a full BT boss encounter the way they did last time. I stayed disciplined, kept moving, and the Chiral Artist stayed safe on my back the entire way through the danger zone. Once we were out the other side of the BT territory and heading north toward the Junk Dealer's shelter along the red sandy terrain, the tension finally broke and the home stretch felt genuinely good after everything this mission had put me through.

Finally Reuniting the Junk Dealer and the Chiral Artist

And then we arrived. I walked up to the Junk Dealer's terminal, completed Order No. 34, and what followed is honestly one of the most quietly touching moments I've experienced in Death Stranding so far. This man who has spent the entire time I've known him being hostile, bitter, and convinced the world owed him nothing but more pain, this same man completely transforms the moment the Chiral Artist appears. You can see it happen in real time. The walls come down. The anger drains out of his face. And standing in front of him is the person he thought he had lost, the person whose absence turned him into the closed off, resentful character we met at the beginning of all this.

The reunion itself is understated in the way that Kojima handles these emotional beats really well. It doesn't go big and dramatic. It's quiet and real and that makes it land so much harder. And the immediate payoff for finally connecting these two is that the Junk Dealer joins the UCA. After all the hostility and resistance and the two failed conversations and the dangerous missions he sent Sam on, he finally opens up and connects to the network. Which unlocks new crafting options and moves the story forward in ways that I'm already excited to explore. But honestly, in the moment when that scene played out, none of that mechanical reward was what I was thinking about. I was just glad these two people found each other again. Death Stranding keeps doing this, burying genuinely human stories inside the wildest science fiction world imaginable, and somehow it works every single time. See you in the next post gamers!
