Vlog 453: Splinterlands: Untamed coming out tomorrow + The importance of second revenue streams to sustain the Steem blockchain.

Splinterlands: Untamed is being released tomorrow.

As an investor in the game, I am looking forward to how the new cards will affect the Alpha and Beta card prices and also the price of DEC.

The other part of the vlog is about what would happen if the STEEM price went to 1 cent and why I think that wouldn't matter for the sustainability of the blockchain if there are enough projects here generating revenue from other sources.

In other words, if there are enough projects here utilizing Steem in their business model and generating revenue because of it there should be enough incentive to pay for the infrastructure (full node/witness) and keep it going even though that would only generate 1 cent STEEM tokens for them.

It will just become a cost on the balance that can be offset by the revenue a project makes.

Steemit.com is one of these projects I see being able to do this once communities are out. I'm hoping communities will increase engagement. Make a lot of people have more fun and want to be here and that would lead to more eyes on the site that should lead to more advertisement revenue.

And they sure have enough SP to fill a big pool of RC credits to onboard plenty of users that can start posting here without having to buy STEEM first.

It's a fun thought experiment and I like how more and more projects are searching for second revenue streams, stepping away from the reward pool as the only revenue source.

And don't worry I don't think STEEM price will go to 1 cent for real.

@exyle, In my opinion some changes have to be adopted in Price Reduction Period but in my opinion it will not going to put impact on the value of Product Market.

We have awesome product and more projects are creating their home here. So, i am bullish about Steem no matter what the price aspect is. Stay blessed.

Made me wonder how we can find a better use-case for #spt other than just upvoting content. So far we have just relied on Splinterlands to come up with something down the road. So far their timetable was dedicated to more important things. But maybe the SPT whale community should come together and do something. Maybe even in cooperation with #steemleo as their are great financial advisers in these things.

I'm the guy who was constantly saying wait don't buy, it's going to 15 cents (while steem was going down from 0.45 to 0.2. Now I'm saying buy (and I put my money where my mouth is, although can't afford much).

Steem is not going to 7 cents. Remember me. If it does, it will barely touch it for very few days, not enough to dollar cost average.

I remember you asked me why I believed that steem was going to 15 cents during the recent bitcoin run up and I said I was assuming two things: 1- The bull market has not started. 2- Altcoins go down faster than Bitcoin in a bear market.

Now, even if we still consider those two assumptions to be true, the absolute bottom for steem would be preciseley at 7 cents, assuming Bitcoin bottoms at 4k. And I don't think that Bitcoin will break its previous lows at 3k. Also, steem has been flat compared to Bitcoin for a while, no longer going down faster. In my opinion, this is due to the fact that the Steem price has become so low that even with all the sell pressure from the inflation it only amounts to very little in dollar value, and the buying pressure is becoming almost as strong.

I have started dollar cost averaging into steem at 13 cents, and will keep doing so every month. I don't mind it going a bit lower.
