Hey guys, I hope you're all doing great and having a wonderful time. I'm on school vacation, which I love because it's given me time to read, learn algebra, play games, and watch some movies and series I've been wanting to see for a while.
One of the series I'm watching, and which has me completely hooked, is The Handmaid's Tale. I've skipped several episodes and I'm currently on season 2, but I wanted to talk to you about episode 2 of season 1. This episode has been one of the best I've seen; I can honestly say that it's from this point on that the series really starts to take shape and many of the things that are going to happen begin to make sense.
In this second chapter, we see the growing bond between Offred (June) and another handmaid named Deglend. Remember that the handmaids are subjected to a regime of constant surveillance where anyone could be a spy, and they are rarely alone. They always have a companion to watch over, making it very difficult to trust one another. However, a connection gradually develops between Offred and Deglend, to the point that, at a critical moment, Deglend proposes that Offred join a clandestine network against the oppressive system.
In addition to this very tense situation where Offred has to decide whether or not to ally herself, another situation arises that fills Offred with much doubt and fear. That day, the chauffeur informs her that the Commander wants to see her in his office that evening. This news throws her off balance and fills her with indescribable fear. She thinks about it all day long and mentally prepares herself to face the situation.
It's a very revealing episode, as it also shows us the birthing ceremony performed when the handmaids are tasked with bringing a child into the world and delivering it to their masters. For me, it was a very sad scene to watch because it depicts the dehumanization of women, who serve only as objects to carry in their wombs a being that ultimately doesn't belong to them and is snatched from their arms.
Once the ceremony was over, Offred returned to her masters' house. Her mind was clouded by the request to be in her commander's office at 9 o'clock sharp, an act that was forbidden. At the appointed time, despite the fear she felt, imagining the worst, she walked straight to meet her commander. Once there, she took a deep breath and felt relieved that she was not in danger. Her commander, however strange it might seem, simply wanted to establish some kind of connection with her through a game called Scrabble. It's important to note that this game, and anything related to any kind of knowledge, was strictly forbidden to women. June felt confused, but beyond that, she was grateful to have left that office alive.
The next morning, when she's asked to go shopping, she's excited to tell Deglend about the situation and share some information she managed to get from the commander that night, in case it might be useful to the subversive movement she was about to join. But her enthusiasm is quickly dampened when she realizes that the maid waiting for her isn't Deglend, and that can only mean one thing: she's been arrested and discovered by the system. Upon realizing this, her face falls, and despair washes over her.

Hola chicos espero estén super bien y que la estén pasando de maravilla, estoy de vacaciones escolares, eso me gusta porque me ha dado tiempo de leer, aprender algebra, jugar y ver algunas películas y series que tenía tiempo queriendo ver.
Una de las series que estoy viendo y la cual me tiene enganchada es El cuento de la criada, he adelantado varios capítulos y actualmente me encuentro por la temporada 2, sin embargo vengo a hablarles del capítulo 2 de la temporada 1. Este capítulo para mí ha sido uno de los mejores que he visto; ya que puedo asegurar que es a partir de aquí que se le va dando forma a la serie y se empieza a dar sentido a muchas cosas que van a pasar.
En este capítulo nro. 2 podemos ver la complicidad que nace entre Defred(june) con otra criada llamada Deglend, recordemos que las criadas están sometidas a un régimen de vigilancia donde cualquiera puede ser un espía y comúnmente ninguna criada está sola, siempre tienen una compañera para ser vigiladas entre ambas, es muy difícil confiar una en la otra; sin embargo, entre Defred y Deglend va surgiendo una complicidad que se va dando poco a poco, hasta el punto de que en un momento crítico Deglend le propone a Defred unirse a una red clandestina contra el sistema opresor.
Además de esta situación muy tensa donde Defred tiene que decidir aliarse o no, surge otro situación que llena a Defred de muchas dudas y miedo, porque ese día el chofer le comunica que el Comandante quiera verla en la oficina en la noche, esta situación la descontrola y la hace sentir un miedo indescriptible. Durante todo el día piensa en ello y se va preparando mentalmente para afrontar esa situación.
Es un capítulo muy revelador, ya que también se nos muestra como es la ceremonia de parto que se realiza cuando las criadas les toca traer un niño al mundo y entregarlo a sus dueños. Fue para mí una escena muy triste de ver porque se ve la deshumanización de la mujer que solo sirve como objeto para llevar en el vientre un ser que al final no le pertenece y le es arrebatado de los brazos.
Una vez finalizada la ceremonia Defred vuelve a la casa de sus amos, su mente estaba nublada por la petición de estar a las 9 en punto en la oficina de su comandante, acto que estaba prohibido, a la hora pautada a pesar del miedo que sentía ya que se imaginaba lo peor, camina directo al encuentro con su comandante, una vez reunido con él, respiró profundo y sintió alivio de que no corría peligro, su comandante solo quería por muy extraño que parezca entablar un tipo de conexión con ella a través de un juego llamado scrabble, es importante señalar, que este juego y todo lo que tuviera que ver con algún tipo de conocimiento estaba totalmente prohibido a las mujeres, June se sentía confundida, pero mas allá de eso agradecía haber salido viva de esa oficina.
Al otro día en la mañana cuando le piden salir de compras, se siente animada de poder contarle esta situación a Deglend y algunos datos que pudo obtener del comandante esa noche por si pudiesen servir de algo al movimiento subversivo al cual estaba a punto de pertenecer, pero su entusiasmo se ve opacado porque inmediatamente se da cuenta que la criada que está esperándola no es Deglend y eso solo significa una cosa: fue apresada y descubierta por el sistema, al darse cuenta de esto, su rostro cambia y el desánimo se apodera de ella.
