I hadn’t planned to post today, but my walk to the woodland turned into something productive and rather lovely, not for me, but for our wild, furry friends.

When I arrived, I noticed that my little shelter for them was in quite a mess. I couldn’t help imagining how terrible it would be if they had got used to coming inside for a little shelter, only to find that one day it was no longer there.

The ground was full of twigs, so it seemed like the best time to build them a new one.

This time, I decided to make it bigger, big enough that even a big deer could get inside!
I chose the space between these two trees, where I could place a big, sturdy log as the base.

Then I started building it up with twigs, one by one.

Until it became a wall or roof.

It’s actually much bigger than the previous shelter!

And I made sure there's an opening at both ends so they don't feel trapped and can escape if they need to.

I also added a log stool inside, just in case anyone fancies coming in during the day when our wild friends aren’t around, for a little bit of fun.

And oh yes… I got tempted to get in, and it’s pretty cosy inside! I will add more twigs around it on my next visit to make it super cosy.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Now I can just imagine our wild, furry friends finding their way in there: It could be rabbits, deer, foxes… they’re all welcome. ❤️
Have a lovely day,
Mariah 🌿
