Delegation as a Subscription

Been toying with the idea, since delegations are so common on Hive, that what if we could provide it as a a subscription service.

While the ceiling isn't high to subscribe to scrobble.life, a mere $2 for the first tier and $5 for the second, and then there's value to be had for them up to 75% of the subscription cost in terms of an AI agent that'll reply to questions you may have regarding your scrobble data and instant translations for posts or comment you'd like translated.

The nice thing about delegations is that the voting power could be further used towards community curation, but to make the subscriptions work with it, there'd need to be a month of delegation in advance before it can be applied. So here's how I'd apply it.

Basically a checker that'd check when you delegated and if you've edited the delegation. As an example, let's say someone delegates 10k HP towards a scrobble account, we can assume that with the 10k delegation, the account would earn roughly 8.5% apr which after a month would be roughly 0.7%, meaning the account would earn 70 hive after a month from the delegation. Thus after the month is over and you've kept your 10k delegation, your subscription would then be covered, as currently a $2 sub only costs roughly 50 hive. Instead it could give you a discount for the $5 subscription, which would cost 125 hive, so you'd be able to get it by only paying 55 hive extra (125-70), that way you'd still get perks for your subscription which the delegation makes up for.

The convenience of course is that you don't need to liquidate your hive to subscribe, bigger delegators could also receive gift subscriptions they could give out to members which is already possible. And you can take your delegation back whenever you like, while at the same time knowing that it's being used towards curating the community.

We could also experiment some more compared to the manual curation we've been doing in the community, we could use the new account that's receiving delegations to maybe have AI curate users in the community based on activity/merit, something similar to how our consumer rewards are being scoped. Or just part of it is AI controlled while the rest just trails the regular curation.

Point is and why I'm making this post rather than going ahead and setting this up, is if there's interest in this?

Let me know in the comment section what you think!

Interesting idea! 🤔💡 A subscription model for Hive delegations could make things more accessible and predictable for users. The different tiers also sound like a simple way to let people choose what fits them best. 🐝✨

Congratulations @acidyo! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain And have been rewarded with New badge(s)

You received more than 665000 HP as payout for your posts, comments and curation.
Your next payout target is 670000 HP.
The unit is Hive Power equivalent because post and comment rewards can be split into HP and HBD

You can view your badges on your board and compare yourself to others in the Ranking If you no longer want to receive notifications, reply to this comment with the word STOP

Smart idea and I wondered at times why people don't opt in for that in other apps as well. As long as the service provider makes an earning for it to cover his costs and a little bit on top, any form of payment even if creative should be welcomed. Good luck with this approach as well, I think it would be a great feature to have.

I used to have that with @master-delegator. The code still lives somewhere.

Clever idea, you are constantly thinking! 😀
