Scrobble.life Updates

Had a wee break here recently, mostly watching TV Shows such as Silo and The Gentlemen, but on the side also doing some research with Claude and burning tokens that way and doing a few changes to things, both based on reports from users which I really appreciate and some new things I felt were missing.

I'll list out the boring stuff first real quick.

Quick takes now show both upvotes (when it's a snap) and likes (if you don't wanna upvote something but still like it, now you can)

Somebody requested a hive login by typing the username you wanna login with rather than scrolling down the keychain list of accounts, now this is possible.

There were a few pages that'd hang for one reason or another, this has now been fixed, hopefully longterm.

Our anime/manga search wasn't working, both current existing API's were down so we added a third one: Kitsu! hopefully that one won't go down as well, low on choices when we don't have the funds to pay for API calls!

One more hardening on scrobbles involved in our inhouse player, if a song isn't being scrobbled it'll inform you properly and let you know why.

We also did another full audit sweep, fixed some things there as well as optimized for speed and mobile a bit more.

Mobile Scrobbling

We're a lot closer to enabling mobile scrobbling which has been our most requested feature ever since our existence. This will involve downloading one of a few existing mobile scrobbler apps and setting our website as the endpoint.

Still got some work to do with the hive bridge, so your mobile scrobbles also get turned into Hive custom json ops through posting authority, we hope to announce it soon along with a how-to set it up guide!

More focus on memes

While memes have been part of the /watch pages for a while now, we understand that people aren't really on a certain /watch page of a title when they come up with memes or see a funny meme they wanna share, so now this has been changed where memes have their own submissions page!

https://scrobble.life/memes

Still untested, who'll be the first to dare?

The idea here is that memes will be sent out as snaps and then automatically also land on the correct title's or person's page. Wanna share a meme of Harry Potter? Look up the Harry Potter movie first and then share it. Wanna share a meme of Daniel Radcliffe himself? You can do that as well.

Let's see how this goes!

Closing up on 70k songs scrobbled! Quite a lot of activity. Thanks for using scrobble.life and being part of its early days!

Adding a mobile scrobbling will be cool, as it will give many people access to the site without interaction, I really love the the team is working to make the site easily accessible for everyone.

I've started using the frontend a lot more, and I'm really enjoying it. It's really cool to bring together all the best parts of Hive—and now with common interests like music, anime, movies, and TV shows! It's really cool. :D

A way to log music I listen to on my phone(via apple music) would be so great!

My wife and I started watching the second season of The Gentlemen too. We are about halfway through. I am thinking about turning subtitles back on though because I can't understand what they are saying for most of it! The accents are tough.
