I watched a horror movie and it had all the tropes you'd expect characters to make like making dumb decisions and getting killed for it. In hindsight or third party perspective, you'd think it didn't make common sense why character behave foolish but that's what immersion to reality looks like.
I'm in the medical field, it doesn't feel like I'm in Grey's Anatomy but some of the stuff that happens on screen is relatable because it really happens in real life, just not with pretty faces or emotional background music on cue. If there was a 4D creature replying our 3D lives like a movie strip, we'll probably be no different from the dumb characters we see on screen.
You probably have embarrassing moments that only you know happened but imagine if those instances were clipped and replayed by some cosmic observer judging your every move? That would probably be under the comedy genre.
And if you met an accident, your event will just be a prelude to someone else's beginning arc.
We're not consciously tagging our lives under the comedy genre, despite some of it can be destiny's joke but bits of the events when pieced together can make up a comedy film, maybe. At some parts of our past and present, we fit a genre and those are the parts that would make sense if turned into film of that genre.
I guess from all the rambling above, if there was such a thing as a predetermined outcome from all our choices and there was another passive observer looking, then we wouldn't know whether our lives is a sitcom or tragedy.
We laugh at character's having a bad day on screen, at their expense, it becomes our entertainment just cause the script made it so, but imagine if our actions, much like your choice to read this shitpost was also part of a script you're running in autopilot.
What I'm just that side character that sends cryptic messages for you to take a hint and wake up. This isn't the reality you belong. Hive is already valued at 10$ each, pinch yourself.
So if I were to ask you, what do you think your story's genre will be tagged as?
Thanks for your time.
