Kicking Our Horses To Race Like Theirs

Sincerely, getting it right in life at any point in time we make attempt makes us think comparison done by some people is the heaviest mistake they will ever do or a worse option they had gone for until shoes are changed and we see how tight and uneasy it is in there not getting anything right with life.

However, it doesn't mean I am justifying comparing ourselves or basically our failures with the success and achievements of others. Truly we are humans and without mincing words, we will always find ourselves in the middle level of life as we can't be content with what we have. That's just the bad side of us but like I mentioned before, we are always at the middle. That is, some people are looking up to us to get to where we are (of which is not even worth something to us yet as an achievement or success) while we are also looking up to some people to get to where they are someday.

It is normal to look at people who have attained the same height and life we so much desire but the moment it becomes comparing them with ourselves, judging and belittling our own little beginnings or achievements then we are off the track.

I've had pursuits in life, the ones I've been able to achieve and the onesss I'm yet to achieve or even move close to but I don't think there are moments when I allow it have a space in my heart to compare myself. With no doubt and lies, those thoughts will come because they start out as thoughts before it grows into something uncontrollable but the ability not to allow it stay let alone occupying space till it accommodate our reasonings makes us the real controller of our lives.

Some of us needs to be motivated to keep going despite all odds and that's why we see some having role models or mentors that they look up to which is cool but comparing negatively does not only bring down our motivation to succeed but also brings down the empire of our life visions. Everyone with their separate destiny and time to fulfil them and that's why I always make use of clock as analysis when it comes to discussions like this. 12 digits of hours on a clock with little or tiny strokes of minutes are not just there as figure head but proverbially telling us that everyone has their own time and even if I have same hour as you to achieve in life, the minutes and seconds might still be different.

For me, instead of harbouring the feelings that I'm falling behind in life, I rather celebrate the success of those I see, take 1 or 2 lessons from their story to see where I might be needing them in my process journey. Just like my tribe people will say that "ogbon ologbon lafi n sogbon" meaning that you learn from others.

It's not bad to look up to people above us or where we wish to be in life. What we do wit that becomes the problem. Do we begin to compare ourselves or find motivation? When we make it all about comparisons, then we lose ourselves and our peace comes along crashing. We should be inspired and motivated, not make it a competition.
