Over the last few days, I've been trying to put up my little Christmas tree—today is my third attempt—since I've been having an internal struggle with this little tree. At first, I didn't like how some things turned out, and as I was rearranging it, I kept looking for ways to improve it, but it was pretty difficult. I never thought a little Christmas tree would cause me so much trouble, hahaha.
The thing is, my first attempt was awful. First of all, I had a really hard time setting up the little tree—I just couldn’t get it to look right—and I think that’s the worst part of putting up the tree. The second most awful thing is putting the lights on it… I always have the same problem: I feel like there aren’t enough lights, and it really bothers me that I don’t know how to space them out properly. On my first try, the tree looked shapeless, and the lights were strung on it in a really sloppy way.
I didn't like it, so I took it apart and started over, this time trying to arrange everything better and more neatly. To be honest, it turned out pretty nice, but I still wasn't too crazy about the lighting. I've always dreamed of a tree with lights on every branch, even though I know that would mean using way too many lights—but I wanted to give it a try since my tree is small, so it shouldn't use that many lights… RIGHT!?.
Well, today I decided to do it this way, and with four strings of 100 lights, I could only light up half the tree, so I went out to buy more lights and brought back three more boxes, and I barely managed to cover it completely. The top is less brightly lit than the bottom, but at least it was starting to take shape, and I also adjusted the direction of the branches so the tree would look better.
And I achieved what I've always wanted—a tree with thousands of lights—but now my eyes hurt when I look at it. Plus, I couldn't finish decorating it because I'm extremely tired. Putting up a tree three times isn't an easy task, so tomorrow I'll be decorating it and seeing how it looks when it's completely set up.
