It had been way too long since I’d bought that boxed pudding; I think the last time I ate it, I was still living with my mom and was just a little girl… I never got around to buying it because I thought it would be harder to make, but this is actually the second time I’ve made it, and it really is pretty easy. However, I tried two brands—one more expensive than the other—and was surprised to find that one was better quality than the other. Even so, the pudding tastes pretty good; it even brought back some memories.
I bought these two two weeks ago, and they were pretty cheap; however, I’ve only tried the “Tigo” brand one—I haven’t tried the other one yet, and honestly, I didn’t have high hopes for it because that brand has products that taste awful. But this pudding cost less than $1, so it was pretty affordable for me, and if it did taste bad, I wouldn’t be losing that much money, haha. To my surprise, it tasted pretty good, but it had a peculiar flavor—rather than vanilla, it tasted like baby formula. I don’t know how to explain it, but it tastes like the milk babies drink, hahaha. It was really delicious.
And then we wanted to try the chocolate one—I actually bought the buttercream-flavored one for my son—but I decided to get the chocolate one instead. However, we opted for a different brand because I’m pretty picky when it comes to chocolate, and I feel like there’s a higher chance of it not turning out right, so I went with this brand, which is better known in my country. In fact, the puddings I used to eat as a child were from this brand. It was much more expensive—$2 for such a small box—but I decided to take a chance anyway because it’s such a well-known brand.
But I was pretty disappointed—the mixture wasn't thickening properly and it was already starting to burn a little, so I decided to take it off the heat and pour it into cups. I'd been preparing that pudding since the morning, and by the afternoon it was still runny; it didn't set completely, and that was pretty frustrating. It's worth noting that I followed the instructions on the box exactly, so I don't know what could have gone wrong. It’s been in the fridge for HOURS and it still hasn’t finished setting.
Well, I mixed it with Maria cookies to make it tastier, but it actually had the texture of thick hot chocolate—only this one was cold.
