Cuéntenos de alguna vez en la que alguien hizo una suposición errónea sobre usted, sin conocer los hechos. ¿Cómo lo afrontaste? ¿Cómo te hizo sentir?
Tell us about a time when someone made a wrong assumption about you, without knowing the facts. How did you deal with it? How did it make you feel?
This question is pretty difficult for me because I don’t have just one anecdote like that—in fact, it’s something that’s happened to me my whole life. I always have a very unfriendly expression on my face, and it’s something I can’t control—in fact, it hurts… It sounds crazy, but it bothers me to feel my facial muscles so tense all the time. That makes people who don’t know me not even dare to talk to me, and since I’m super introverted, I’ve survived almost my entire life this way, without having many friends, and the few I’ve managed to make always tell me the same thing.
”Al principio me caías muy mal, pensé que eras odiosa por que siempre tienes esa cara de pocos amigos”
“At first, I really didn’t like you—I thought you were obnoxious because you always have that unfriendly look on your face.”
And even though I’m not the friendliest person in the world, I feel like I’m a good friend and, in general, a kind and easygoing person—but only with the people who deserve it, of course, since I also have a dark side that comes out with people who make my life miserable, haha, so I’ve always been labeled as arrogant at first when people don’t know me, but the reality is completely different once I get to know them—I even love making others laugh with my witty remarks.
¿Cómo ha cambiado tu color favorito con el tiempo? ¿Qué impulsó ese cambio?
How has your favorite color changed over time? What prompted that change?
I didn't get a chance to participate in the previous post about favorite colors, so today I’ll answer that question. I have two colors that have always been my favorites: blue and purple. They’re colors that bring me a sense of calm; I love working with them. Even when I buy wood stains, I love looking at the purples and blues, testing them out, and seeing the different shades that exist. To me, they’re completely peaceful and melancholic colors that represent me perfectly because that’s exactly the kind of person I am—very melancholic. Blue is a color I associate with memories of the past, with beautiful landscapes, and with dark, rainy sunsets where the sky sometimes turns a deep blue. I associate purple strongly with seeking peace and a safe place; it’s a color that isn’t usually too loud, and at the same time, it’s part of that range of cool tones that I love so much.
Before, my favorite colors used to be black (which I still like, but only for clothes) and red. When I was a teenager, those were my favorite colors, but it was mostly because of the “emo” trend back then. For many years, my favorite color was black, but even though my tastes are similar to what they were back then, they’ve changed a bit; I started to like more shades—even now I like some shades of pink. I used to think pink was a despicable color, haha, and blue and purple started catching my eye more and more. It was when I started doing illustrations that I realized I worked better when using blues, purples, and cool tones in general. I always felt tremendous satisfaction drawing with those colors, and it was as if painting with these tones gave me a sense of calm. Sometimes I’d paint with warm colors and then make color adjustments to blue tones at the end, so basically, I’ve been madly in love with blue and purple for 6 years now.
So, basically, art opened the door for me to experiment with more colors and learn to appreciate these kinds of shades more—shades that, in the end, I discovered I love and that fill me with life.
