24 Hours in Charge: Here’s What I’d Change on Hive

I’ve been on the hive platform for some time now, and though the structure of the is quite wonderful, sometimes I do wish there were a few additions and adjustments to it to create a much better experience for the users. So if I woke up on day and find myself in charge for twenty-four hours to manage and do some restructuring as I wish, here are a couple of things I’ll put into consideration.

Okay, first off, I would take some measures regarding the security aspect. In most online platforms that requires you logging with certain credentials to access your account they usually make provision for forgotten password. Now, the hive platform is something that lacks this. Although it makes you more cautious and preservative of your details, because when I got to know that there’s no remedy for forgotten passwords I had to be very careful with mine from the on set. But then, anything can happen and just like that your account is gone and you’re totally helpless.

Next, I’ll introduce still in the aspect of security is to make a provision for 2 step authentication. I think it would be really helpful to further tighten the security and safety of your account from being compromised.

Another area I would love see a change implemented is in the area of upvotes on posts by accounts with high reputation versus those with low reputation. I have nothing wrong with according greater upvotes to accounts that have gone far. There’s absolutely wrong with that, it’s actually a reasonable thing to do.

My concern is in the area where some authors are denied upvotes simply because their reputation doesn’t reach up to a certain number. I feel it would make more sense if the quality of a post is good enough then the author should be deserving of upvotes regardless of the level of reputation.

I think this initiative would further encourage newbies on the platform instead of making them feel sidelined simply because of the level of their reputation. And one more thing I think I’d probably initiate is something like a customer support service directly in the platform should incase someone—most especially a newbie who is finding his or her way around the platform—have some complaints or maybe clarification of certain things. I’m sure there are quite a number of people who have been in the platform for long and may have answers to questions, but as a newbie just starting off you may not know who to ask. And it’s not like you can send a direct message to them even if you come across one.

Like the prompt said, we are all different. And what I may consider as problems may not be viewed as problems to others which I totally agree. But to me, I feel this changes will contribute to a positive change on the hive platform.
