El destino del narcisista. [Esp-Eng]

All of us who have crossed paths with a narcissist have experienced the complexity of their personality, their disorder, their traits, their personal and family dynamics, how they live their life, how they destroy others, and how they self-destruct.

Very often, when we read, talk, or research this disorder, we focus on the malice, the abuse, the facade they project to the outside world, and how rotten they can be within their inner circle, the brokenness of their family and loved ones... But we rarely address the narcissist's fate.

Many people focus on the narcissist's cruelty or manipulation, but we rarely stop to consider how such a person's days end... I recently visited a narcissistic friend from whom I had to distance myself because the dynamics of our friendship were draining me, and I was on the verge of hating her. Therefore, I decided that the best thing was to distance myself from her out of respect for the friendship that once united us.

Well, I passed by her house; her son was on the porch, and I asked about his mother. He told me she was very ill, so I stopped by to say hello. I was completely shocked by the person she is today—her hair a mess, her appearance awful, her house totally destroyed as if no one lived there. She doesn't have a single mirror after having so many... Old age has caught up with her, along with illness, and she's been hit by the economic crisis the country is facing.

There's no way she can continue maintaining the image of a self-sufficient, young, and prosperous woman, so she's experienced the shock of reality. This is an extremely difficult stage that narcissists face because their act is sustained by money, appearance, physical attributes, and close relationships that feed their disorder. When they can no longer continue their usual performance, they fall into deep depression, episodes of anger, aggression, and isolation.

At the end of the road, the narcissist is left alone and isolated... There is a self-imposed solitude so that those around them don't see their downfall; self-isolation is their way of protecting themselves because they dedicated their lives to destruction, destroying bonds, breaking up families, and they are aware that the fruits are rotten, and instead of repenting, they feel anger and shame and make the decision to shut themselves away in their world without peace.

Loneliness arises as a consequence of their actions. Their family, loved ones, and friends distanced themselves to protect themselves. The bonds were so broken that no one is willing to tolerate so much humiliation, abuse, and mistreatment. It is then that the truth arrives, when the inevitable loneliness sets in, when they must assume responsibility for the damage they inflicted for years.

When a narcissist reaches old age, they rarely regret the harm they caused. The truth is that their fate is always the same: loneliness, the fall of their public persona, depression, isolation, self-loathing, and unhappiness.

They dedicated their lives to destroying those close to them, destroying their families, breaking up their children, manipulating and destroying their partners, and in the end, the greatest destruction is inflicted upon themselves. A narcissist is a profoundly unhappy person, without peace, tormented by thoughts that last until the very last day of their life.
